Right! I thought this was recent then I saw 7 years ago and was very confused due to the quality being so good! I don’t know how he got 2020/21 technology in 2013 yet here we are
This man made a video as if he was a professional video maker. Good quality video, good editing, good sound. My favorite video that got me into skating few years ago. I transitioned into aggressive inline 3 years ago and I am so thankful to this guy.
Andras Sz I've learned a few own tricks since my original comment. Like falling backwards on my elbow or screaming in panic while going downhill. Overall, I'm making good progress.
There is something we often forget to teach: *arms*. It's really important when you learn to make your arms follow your feet, and to look where you going instead of looking at your feet. You will learn faster and have a better balance. Arms up at the level of your shoulders, when your turning keep your arms up, the outside one front and the inside one back, so when you do a half turn, inverse your arms position. When you jump, flex your knees as much as you can, and make your arms follow: from the sides of your body (up), they will go down and then cross against your breast with an impulsion to the top.
Love this video! Here's a list of the exercises: 1. Sprinting 2. Cross (step) overs in a circle 3. Rolling and turning with skates inline, one behind the other 4. Rolling on one leg, straight and curves 5. Rolling over obstacles and roughness 6. Turning 180/360 in place by putting down back foot 7. Walk steps parallel and perpendicular to the steps 8. Skating backwards 9. Turning 180 into backwards position 10. Don't brake: slow down with curves and turns 11. Jump 180 into backwards skating 12. Roll on two wheels: turns and backwards 13. Backwards on one leg 14. Jump over everything! 15. Spins in place
Back in the 90´s there was this one summer when my parents gave me roller blades because I had good results in school, so naturally, I tried my best to learn how to skate with my friends, and succeeded. Since that year I never skated again, but now almost twenty years later and with 33 years of age, I decided I needed to exercise more, and went to buy a pair of skates once again. I was mind blown on how my body "remembered" how to skate and keep my balance. Now all I think about is skating after a hard days work, it´s like I am a kid again. Even my wife and daughter want to skate with me, it´s amazing how the family is getting closer because of this sport. Loved your video, I´m going to try and do some of the things you suggested. Cheers!
Arena dos Jogos Hmmm well I "was" able to do what he shows in the video, plus I was an aggressive skater to, I have memories doing backflips, 360´s, 720´s on ramps half pipes etc, but aggressive skate = you wont skate for many years the body cant hold that abuse for a long time I have plates and screws in my bones because some epic fails on half pipe, so I had to abandon more than had I was forced to abandon aggressive skating and go on freestyle. I actually enjoy it freestyle, but my business married life etc etc force me to abandon that to, same as you I feel the need now, after 12 years I got my ass on my skates again, I didn't forgot it to but also I dont feel that secure anymore cause the leak of practice. When I saw this guy video makes me feel so hard the need to skate again at my 36 years old =P
Arena dos Jogos So interesting as this is very similar to my story! I was a good and fearless skater when I was a kid, now I'm 27 thought I needed to be more active and adopt a new hobby. So the first thing came to my mind, embracing a long lost friend, skating. Now my friends are thinking about buying/renting to join me. This is an awesome sport!
+Arena dos Jogos thats great you remembered, my bike got stolen and skating was the only i had to commute faster so i might go back to cycling in the future and leave skating for a while but i was worried i might forget a few things in the future.
+Arena dos Jogos Lol all you guys sound so prematurely old from the way you write, reminiscing about the 1990s. I'm 30 and I feel exactly the same as when I was 18. You're not even middle-aged for another decade and a half.
everyone thinks wearing pads makes you look nerdy... WEAR THE DAMN PADS! and a helmet! wrist, knee pads and helmet. start on flat smooth surface maybe next to some grass if you can. fall on your knees a couple times use the knee pads and wear your wrist guards... helps to fall couple times on the pads, try wearing shoes and just fall on your knees few times, see how easy it will be for you...
Look at the brand enui if you want good protection, may be pricey but it'll save hospital trips and they have nice designs worth the money take it from me with personal experience:)
Something i used to do when i was still skating (i grew out of them, quite literally) was to wear the pads underneath my clothes, so it wouldn't look as weird and i'd still get the protection, though that might be more tricky depending on the kind of pants you want to wear
I've been skating for over 8 years now and i hate pads because they restrict my movement but with skill you learn to fall without getting hurt too much. As a beginner get some pads tho.
I have never used any protecting pads and still never got hurt doing any of these tricks the pads might also weigh you down and give you a more chance of falling then without the pads.
seriously, even pros. I've been skating for almost 10 years, took a bad fall on one of my knees last summer, and now have a horrible scar and a super sensitive knee.
Someone wrote a comment here, "I hope he is still skating", so I went check his channel and apparently this was the last video he uploaded. Now all I can think is "I hope he is still alive!" Anyways, I really hope you are, and that was a great video, so thank you!
Well, he at least still lived in 2016. Did some research and found a picture of him. In 2013 he went to the USA for a half year as an intern. I guess he kinda forgot about his channel back then.
Lol I actually learned the turn on accident when I was trying to stop and I just put my foot down down and I did like 7 spins and my friends where so surprised and they were all saying how did you do that!
When I was learning the T-stop, I couldn't put my braking foot down flat against the ground so I used the front wheel only to brake. Instead of braking it just made me turn and I stuck with it when I needed to slow down when going into a turn, if I need to do a sharp turn or if I need to turn 180 degrees and face backwards. I still need to slow down before doing a turn to avoid losing balance due to counter forces but its still a useful technique.
Same. I used to inline skate as a kid, and when i was playing in the frontyard, I accidentally did a turn. The kids who were outside passing by started to watch me try it again and succeeded! Coolest trick I learned that time 😂👌
I'm re-watching this video after couple of years of practicing and not only I'm proud of how much better I'm now. I am, most of all, soooo freaking thankful for this tutorial. Dude, you are the best!
Your tricks are basic but essential to improve skating. I watched your video last year, followed your advices while skating, and one year after, I am actually a better skater. So thank you, I watched tons of tutorial videos for beginners/intermediate skaters and yours is the best.
Thanks dude! After watching this video I've finally decided to get back skating. It was 14 years since I last skated, but now I'm back and practicing! Thank you again! Cheers from Brazil!
Ditto. I just bought my first pair in 10 years. I need to get out and move about. Great refresher on rock-solid fundamentals in this video in a clear and to the point manner. I will have blast this summer "shredding" asphalt. You all have fun!
I cannot thank you enough for this video. It's been 8 months since I first started out. I can do turns, cross-overs, walk up stairs and sprints. Of course I still have so much to learn. Long long way to go. Your videos keep me motivated! I have one problem though. My guitar is collecting dust in a corner :P
This is a great video... and as an old crunchy 42 year old, who originally started rollerblading back when they came out in the 90s... This is all the silly stuff we just naturally did for hours on end, and how we progressed to jumping over thing, ramps, urban stuff, etc. Now I am trying to get back into the sport, and closer to that teenage fitness level I once had! :D
im trying to rollerblade again after almost 20 years of quitting (school, college etc) & i felt like i couldnt do it anymore. but its just my second session and i've fallen so much it feels discouraging. part of me is blaming the non-flat roads but i felt like im just making excuses.. what did you do to get back your lost skills?
@@linnyxue3870 Though I did feel out of my element at first I just started on easy hard surfaces, like tennis courts or basketball courts. Just had to put in the time, and keep pushing myself to try harder skills as I went. After 3 or 4 outings I was rolling off stairs, as well as hitting bad sidewalks and low speed streets in town again. As an old crunchy 40+ guy... Being sure to keep stretching before and after was important too. 🤓
In 2015 i watch this video and start skating and now in Dec 2017 i watch this video and i want to hug this guy that inspires me to do a skating now I'm. A professional skater
Starting inline skating is one thing I have been planning to do since last year. My parents don't want to pay for anything fun in my life but I'm going to buy myself my own pair of skates and learn once I get my credit card. I might even try all the tricks you showed on video too😁
One year ago I started to learn "real" inline skating and this is one of the videos I watched a couple of times and I were not able to do 80% of that stuff. Today I watched it again cause I was curious and I actually got everything of the list to work. But guys It does take hours of practise and yes at the beginning it feels like you will never do it but there will be a certain point when you keep trying where it just clicks and it works. Perfect list for the basics of actual skating. Grüße gehen raus!
I'm pretty good at inline skating as it's the only sport I've ever kept up with since I was a kid, I got my first pair very young, I just realized I did most of these things by myself just out playing, a lot of these are tricks that come naturally if you just keep going, practice makes perfect, but still an incredibly informative video and I appreciate it 👏 can't wait for summer so I can go skating again!
I ordered my blades today and I can't wait to try out the techniques in this video. Going to learn the basics and hopefully work my way up to inline speed skating.
it has been 4 years since i have done inline skating like this, and i wanted to go back to this video today since i miss skating.. this was the video that helped me skate better so thank you
10 years now and it's still the most informative skates video ever. I am still recommending those that I teach to watch this video for advanced techniques and to get into self pace learning
1:30 I started doing this as soon as I began learning. My sisters made fun of me for it until they found out how helpful it is to be able to skate in-line! I guess thing #16 would be "Don't worry about others making fun of your skating."
I used to do roller in line when I was a teenager, I Loved it. I'm 40 now, and for my daughter's birthday I bought her one pair. We go out every day and we skate. I finally learned going backward. I'm so happy to see I can progress even if I'm not really young anymore. Great video!
+romahnae I played hockey for years, and bought my first pair of rollers a week ago. NOT the same thing :)) But loads of fun. For the first time since I'm a kid I feel like a beginner at skating, and I'm thrilled to learn again!
lol. ..interesting. yeah, when we're kids there is little to no fear at all of falling so we learn to skate on ice or surface seamlessly with no prisoners taken. that's why it was a "piece of cake" for me, when i first hit the ice years ago and found out that i could balance and skate on ice. it's other way around for me, though, i've since recently started roller skating, again in years.. the ice isn't so easy for me anymore since i have not been ice skating for a long time. i'd decided to hit the ice last week and found out that my confidence had greatly diminished.. i had to skate around for a while before attempting, something once simple to me as, cross overs. my feet felt wobbly, i kept going off the ice to retighten or loosen my skates and i was relying more on outside-edges turns to just turn. it was just last winter season that i was 'killing it' at my beginner to intermediate level, skating really fast, hitting turns sharply and building ample speed with cross overs on both sides. last week, i felt completely new on the ice... maybe it's due to me roller blading at lot recently and thought that it would be same on ice, you know, that child mindset i once had. i prefer ice skating though, i was always say that i wish i had a frozen over lake near me all the time. i consider myself a beginner to intermediate skater, right there in between.. but i wanna be a freestyle skater on both ice and surface.
Great video for beginners!! I grew up skating and even worked at a drive in restaurant in high school. But it’s been a about 10 years since I last skated. I’d been wanting to get back into for the last couple of years but just hadn’t had to time to find a store to buy a good pair, as I live in the US and it seems to be pretty rare around here. About 4 months ago though I found a brand new pair of skates at a yard sale! Sure they were a cheap pair, but I paid $5 for them and that was enough to give me the little but of motivation I needed. I now am the the (probably weird 😂) girl who skates around our suburban neighborhood for 5 or more miles every other day. It’s like riding a bike, you never forget. Which is funny that I’m so good at skating because I’m super clumsy with regular shoes. It also helps me maintain my leg mass that I don’t want to loose as I approach 30 years old. Anyways, thanks for the video, I’m sure it’s been really helpful to beginners!
Roxette Hubbart so glad to hear you don’t lose it. I used to skate when I was young and I finally got the courage to buy a $100 pair yesterday..I’m hoping it’s the same case scenario.
I watch this video every day I swear it always makes me feel happy. Anyway since I started skating I thought what's the point now I've seen this video, I want to skate every day I would be able to if my mum isn't always worrying about my safety : -D
This made me sooo jealous haha... Great video though ~ I hope I can be as good a skater as you one day. For now I'm still working on simply strengthening my legs enough so they don't hurt while practicing for extended periods of time.
I've been rollerblading for about 6 years and your legs definitely get used to all these motions pretty soon. I'd recommend sprinting with the skates for a while to build leg strength and also learn more balance.
Thanks dude! I'm searching for tutorial videos and texts for begginers to medium skaters, this video help me a lot (including to teach my girlfriend). I actually do 11/15 from your tips and I'm starting to pratice slalom, so some steps told in this video really have to be "mastered" to do some tricks of slalom. By the way, thanks again! =)
I got a little tip too If you remove the two middle wheels you can jump higher and you are faster but that also has a drawback you can not ride so well over stones or small hills, but your inlinestakers are a lot easier try it it is fun
Azuuu Haft this is a myth. Especially at skating rinks this doesn’t help. I see a lot of new skaters doing this and it makes them look stupid. Half of them don’t even know what it does. It doesn’t make you faster but it decreases weight by a tad. Best idea would just to invest in a more expensive and lighter pair of skates. You lose so much grip and speed by taking those wheels out.
I can practically do all of those. The only thing I have trouble with is turning and going backwards, BUT it's only when I turn a specific direction. I can spin right into it very easily, but I have a little harder time spinning left into backwards.
I have been doing that lately (translating the iceskating moves I already know to roller skate). It is a bit more difficult on roller because the edges are not as defined as in the iceskates. Also it takes more strenght to do each movement (I get tired easily on roller but not on ice) But in general the movements have the same body posture components. You have to practice each of them with care because your brain has to get used to the little differences in how to balance, but the gross movement you already have it.
I've been wondering this the other way around I love being on roller blades but it takes so much energy. I wish I just had a local ice rink so I could at least practice :/
Man this video really made me improve and skate like a pro within 3 months! Thanks but I wonder, how do you manage to turn from forwards to backwards on two wheels?
strikefishingman I suggest you make some tutorials on just one skill, for example turning from forward to backwards and vice versa. A lot of guys struggle with that. Thanks.
When going backwards and turning back forward there is a force that you can use to swing your self up, it's practically a natural jump. once you feel it, you can start vending your knees and adding your own force to perform a cool jump. It's very fun.
To say nothing of the skating in this video, I applaud your ingenious use of a selfie stick to do closeups. You've given purpose to an otherwise really annoying invention ;) Oh yeah, and thanks for making this video. I too just got back into rollerblading and although I feel like I'm picking it back up fast, I still have a lot to learn.
I haven’t been practicing for 20years.. in less than 3weeks these tips have really improved my performance... back then we had no internet or a pool of knowledge on RUclips as today ;) thanks mate!
Wout Mertens It's years ago that I actually fell the last time. But I almost fall every now and then. When you skate for many many years you can catch yourself and find the balance again, even in bad situations. :)
Wout Mertens I have been skating for 8+ years and have fallen 2-3 times. I would only wear wrist guards. The last time I fell, last summer, i couldn't walk for 4 days while attempting a jump and had to miss work. Had I been wearing knees pads and other, might not have been as bad, so naturally, i started wearing the knee pads too. It's a small gesture, with potentially much rewards. I had to say!
Wout Mertens Yea I'm skating for a long time now and now I never fall, only sometimes in the mornings, I fall on my butt, but it doesn't hurt because I'm sleepy.
Remember; best to wear all your gear (helmet, wrist:elbow:knee guards). I always wear at least my wrist guards; I sprang my wrists way too many times learning how to skate.
knees, wrists, helmet. Butt pads if you find yourself on your ass more than once. I'm about to find some butt pads just to increase my confidence, so I can hopefully start doing some cool stuff. I've got maybe 40 hours in on blades, total, and I'm pretty good at starting, turning, going up reasonable hills, traversing crappy pavement .. not so great at stopping, and the times i've tried to jump or go over speedbumps, I've landed straight on my ass. Last time I was at a roller rink, about 3 weeks ago, I lost control and managed to fall "properly" completely by accident .. "properly" meaning i rolled right into my shoulder, somersaulted, and damn near landed on my feet again. If I could repeat that willfully, I'd be awesome. :D
I've been skating since I was a child. Two years ago, I received a pair of Seba skates, but I haven't used them so much, because of the lack of people skating in my city. But I really want to learn tricks (I already know most of the tricks of this video, but not two wheels, for example), so I've started today to go skating in the mornings. I would love to learn how to roller slalom! Wish me luck! :P
Just retired from working since 1977 and I'm doing work out inline skating two and a half hours first day worked up a good workout man it's rough but I love it I don't know what I've been doing all my life I should have started this a long time ago merci beaucoup Mon amie
I literally learned these basics from this back when he uploaded it... guess what! Am managing a skating group in Dubai :D I kept practicing day and night
this is a great video i myself have been skating about 2 years and i am good at going forwards and really slow backwards going over most things and siting (or kneeling whatever you want to call it) i do have a question though, how do you go from up on a curb strait down to the street? i can do tiny curbs but they give me trouble. oh and you are an amazing skater, thank you for the tips in the video.
Thanks :) ... so I just roll it down. No jump, no nothing. When you are not suuper slow, you can just drive it down and you will drop down to the street. But of course be careful ;)
try going downhill backwards. this will help you go faster when you are going backwards. for the curb, just try to jump a little bit in the air, but be careful. dont worry of its hard. just keep practicing.
I've watched this video in 2016 before I learn anything about inline skate, and now in 2021 I can do ALL things in this video, even more than this.Thank you so much 👏
I roller bladed a lot as a kid and I just ordered some again (I'm 27) I'm afraid I'm not gonna be able to do it regardless of having done it in the past so I'm watching all the videos I can. Thank you for yours!
i started rollerblading again at 24 (currently 26) and after a bit of warming up i was right back where i was as a kid! i love it just as much as i did back then. you won’t regret getting back into it!
Finally, an instructional video that addresses bad roads tips! I am just getting back into in line skating again after several years and I find I'm having trouble with bad sidewalks roads near my place, just like I did years back.
Hey I really liked your video and it was informative but I was just wondering if you had any recommendations for a good skate brand for a beginner to get?
+Shahin Nawabi agreed hahaha I just started trying to roller skate I've fallen about 5 times in the first 10 minutes and I just laugh my butt of about it instead of getting mad
I really thank you for this video. I first watched it back in 2016 and it really helped me out a lot. I tried every trick in the video too. Now I'm a lot better at Rollerblading and have mastered all those tricks thanks to this video. I came across it today and it brings back memories when I was still learning.
These are some really helpful tips on how to improve your skating skills! I'm a beginner myself, I'll definitely come back to this video once I've mastered all of these. Cya in a few months!
3:15 “it takes a lot of practice” Me, does it first day of getting inline skates :o (I practice iceskating (not that good) so i guess that’s kinda hacks) One thing that’s scary about inline for me is going downhill cause there’s no such thing in iceskating
This is a great advice! I didn'tt brake my wrist, but I directly hit the concrete with my palm and the force traveled up to my elbow almost fracturing it. A wrist protector would've just slid and absorb the force. It's a must!
... and probably without falling on your ass / other body parts quite a lot too. I've got the "rolling inline" part down, but everything else here, is pretty much way out of my league so far. ;-)
Yeah. U r right people. Its all about asses falling but you keep trying untile you get to the point that you wanted and still wishing. So. DON'T GIVE UP!
It’s almost 6 years since he uploaded this video and it’s still the best content about inline skating so far.
I saw this when it came out and 😧 I'm still waiting for better content about inline skating in the next decade
Sure watch nick Lomax out and about you obviously haven’t looked enough

I remember watching this video 6 months ago when I was a complete beginner - now I can do all these tricks!
ParaglidingPony for how long did u take to be a pro ? how many hours a day or a week average?
Oh man, I'm no-where near being a pro... Though we'll all get there one day!
I was really lucky to take up inline skating when I did - it was during the year I was studying in Spain. Same I’ve been skating for a year and I’m pretty good
Me too!
The quality of this video is so damn good for 2013. Not sure what you used to record and all but great job mate. Holds up in 2020

xD exactly what I thought!
You know people were making a living off of RUclips by 2013 right?
It’s been 7 years. I hope he’s still skating
I hope so too
x3
He had a big incident because he was not breaking. Rip 😢
@@slamie87 really😢
I can't tell if this is sarcastic or not.. like is my man alright?@@slamie87
I found the easiest trick was the one where he stayed on all fours while crying toward the asphalt.
+clray123 LMAO. I love you!

+clray123 :)))))

clray123 :))) I hope i won't learn those tricks. Sounds too complicated :D
Is there a way to learn this without dying?
Genuine Peach learn slowly
No
U have to die in order to learn
Learn slowly
Wear protection. I can't stress that out enough.
When you jump, flex your knees as much as you can, and make your arms follow: from the sides of your body (up), they will go down and then cross against your breast with an impulsion to the top.
similar to figure skating!
i will remember this.
Is there a video that could show and teach me how to do this, that you learned from?
Love this video! Here's a list of the exercises:
1. Sprinting
2. Cross (step) overs in a circle
3. Rolling and turning with skates inline, one behind the other
4. Rolling on one leg, straight and curves
5. Rolling over obstacles and roughness
6. Turning 180/360 in place by putting down back foot
7. Walk steps parallel and perpendicular to the steps
8. Skating backwards
9. Turning 180 into backwards position
10. Don't brake: slow down with curves and turns
11. Jump 180 into backwards skating
12. Roll on two wheels: turns and backwards
13. Backwards on one leg
14. Jump over everything!
15. Spins in place
Dope, thanks.
Thank you bro

everyone thinks wearing pads makes you look nerdy...
Now all I can think is "I hope he is still alive!"
Anyways, I really hope you are, and that was a great video, so thank you!
@The Truth Seeker omg for a few seconds I thought it could be he answering my comment.. it started with a joke but I'm seriously wondering now hahaha

Coolest trick I learned that time 😂👌
I don’t think that’s true
The trick is to predict and control your turn otherwise it is truly dangerous. Control is the key word.
Lol the easiest was spins for me to my sister is always asking how to stop and i show her spins cause that's how i stop myself.

Okay, haven't been skating for 20 years. This is the perfect tutorial to get back into it. Thanks a lot dude!

Grüße gehen raus!
of course it will take hours of practice to do these when you need hours of practice just to roll without falling, losing balance, etc.
the first half of the video I was like easy I can do this then after I was like... damm I ain't sh*t

One thing that I totally believe in and you stated as well,

I used to do roller in line when I was a teenager, I Loved it. I'm 40 now, and for my daughter's birthday I bought her one pair. We go out every day and we skate. I finally learned going backward. I'm so happy to see I can progress even if I'm not really young anymore. Great video!
I'm currently saving money to buy skates! I never did this before, I hope this will help me !
it's worth it.. transitioning to ice will be a piece of cake.
+romahnae I played hockey for years, and bought my first pair of rollers a week ago. NOT the same thing :)) But loads of fun. For the first time since I'm a kid I feel like a beginner at skating, and I'm thrilled to learn again!
+Lucky 7th
Was the skating action similar though?
lol. ..interesting. yeah, when we're kids there is little to no fear at all of falling so we learn to skate on ice or surface seamlessly with no prisoners taken. that's why it was a "piece of cake" for me, when i first hit the ice years ago and found out that i could balance and skate on ice. it's other way around for me, though, i've since recently started roller skating, again in years..
the ice isn't so easy for me anymore since i have not been ice skating for a long time.
i'd decided to hit the ice last week and found out that my confidence had greatly diminished.. i had to skate around for a while before attempting, something once simple to me as, cross overs. my feet felt wobbly, i kept going off the ice to retighten or loosen my skates and i was relying more on outside-edges turns to just turn. it was just last winter season that i was 'killing it' at my beginner to intermediate level, skating really fast, hitting turns sharply and building ample speed with cross overs on both sides.
last week, i felt completely new on the ice... maybe it's due to me roller blading at lot recently and thought that it would be same on ice, you know, that child mindset i once had. i prefer ice skating though, i was always say that i wish i had a frozen over lake near me all the time. i consider myself a beginner to intermediate skater, right there in between.. but i wanna be a freestyle skater on both ice and surface.
+romahnae
Cool!
Good luck!

I used to skate when I was young and I finally got the courage to buy a $100 pair yesterday..I’m hoping it’s the same case scenario.
i started skating 3 days ago i guess i am now the weird suburban girl lol

I used to replay this video so often when I was young and it feels nostalgic to just watch this again.
Thank u very much. After a few weeks of exercising, I already do some of these tricks. You are an inspiration:)
I watch this video every day I swear it always makes me feel happy. Anyway since I started skating I thought what's the point now I've seen this video, I want to skate every day I would be able to if my mum isn't always worrying about my safety : -D
Ajete Ashia totally agree i probably watched the Video like 10 times and i keep going ^^
I suggest you to do it on grass or fake grass if you dont want to clean your rollerblades cause its better
I took up skating over six years ago and this was one of the earliest vids I’ve watch when new. Still relevant today, especially rolling on one leg.
Thanks dude! I'm searching for tutorial videos and texts for begginers to medium skaters, this video help me a lot (including to teach my girlfriend). @@strikefishingman hey, we're still waiting you know :D
I got a little tip too
If you remove the two middle wheels you can jump higher and you are faster but that also has a drawback you can not ride so well over stones or small hills, but your inlinestakers are a lot easier try it it is fun
I'm in the same boat as you. I also need to figure out how to stop when going really fast. Have any tips?
+Michael Layton I turn it into a trick that decreases your momentum then you can stop or just doge and glide.
do a T- stop untill your speed is low enough to engage a power stop (powerslide) . Or t-stop all the way to get started.
Nice tips and narration and explanation of the methodology and encouragement. You're a natural teacher.
I can do most of these things, but on ice. can a lot of these transfer over easy on inline skates?
Mahfew these were made for in line skates so yah
Mahfew depends lol
I have been doing that lately (translating the iceskating moves I already know to roller skate). It is a bit more difficult on roller because the edges are not as defined as in the iceskates. Also it takes more strenght to do each movement (I get tired easily on roller but not on ice) But in general the movements have the same body posture components. You have to practice each of them with care because your brain has to get used to the little differences in how to balance, but the gross movement you already have it.
I've been wondering this the other way around I love being on roller blades but it takes so much energy. I wish I just had a local ice rink so I could at least practice :/
hell yeah bro. only thing is that u can't brake the same way u do on ice, unless u want to eat some concrete.
Man this video really made me improve and skate like a pro within 3 months! Thanks but I wonder, how do you manage to turn from forwards to backwards on two wheels?
+Eddie Mitch it's pretty much the same as doing the turns on all wheels, just takes a bit more balance :)
strikefishingman I suggest you make some tutorials on just one skill, for example turning from forward to backwards and vice versa. A lot of guys struggle with that. Thanks.
Thank You very much for very teachable, simple and accessible video! :-)
When going backwards and turning back forward there is a force that you can use to swing your self up, it's practically a natural jump. once you feel it, you can start vending your knees and adding your own force to perform a cool jump. It's very fun.
I am already skatin 8 years ( i am now 14 ) an i thought i could practise everything , but i learned a lot while watchin your video :)

+TofuCakeCan I feel the same way about selfie sticks! And I would never buy one or even let someone give me one. I used a mono pod upside down ;)
oh derp. Well carry on then!
I haven’t been practicing for 20years.. in less than 3weeks these tips have really improved my performance... back then we had no internet or a pool of knowledge on RUclips as today ;) thanks mate!
so... no guards on your knees, elbows, wrists? Do you never fall?
Thanks for the awesome video, I'll try all those things :)
Wout Mertens It's years ago that I actually fell the last time. But I almost fall every now and then. When you skate for many many years you can catch yourself and find the balance again, even in bad situations. :)
I'll skate a few more years first then :-D
Pinkiepie The Atrocious so what is better: butt landing or forwards?
Remember; best to wear all your gear (helmet, wrist:elbow:knee guards). I always wear at least my wrist guards; I sprang my wrists way too many times learning how to skate.
Even me also. .i just started to learn a week ago. .my wrist paining like hell. .
knees, wrists, helmet. :D
ekdikeo Good luck, sounds like youre making good progress, awesome!
I've been skating since I was a child. Two years ago, I received a pair of Seba skates, but I haven't used them so much, because of the lack of people skating in my city. I would love to learn how to roller slalom!

One thing that’s scary about inline for me is going downhill cause there’s no such thing in iceskating
I'm a newbie in quad skating but I think your advice is useful none the less. I love your energy 💜
and HAVE A WRIST PROTECTOR (i broke my wrist :'c)
damn me too. it's quite painfull. i'll buy it now for sure.
uyetu etyuetyutyu same but I had took pain killers right before I broke it for a head ache so it really only felt like it was sprained
uyetu etyuetyutyu I just sprained the shit out of my knee.
This is a great advice! I didn'tt brake my wrist, but I directly hit the concrete with my palm and the force traveled up to my elbow almost fracturing it. A wrist protector would've just slid and absorb the force. It's a must!
Or you can just not land on your wrists and try to land on your butt or knees with kneepads because that's obviously the better way
