I own this same car in a '96 model year completely stock NA with a 5spd Manual. Paint is peeling off the roof and hood. It's my daily driver with 388,900 miles as of this writing. It's more reliable than most of the new cars I know of. My engine is much cleaner than the one in the video. It goes to red line quite nicely. The only option was heated seats - driver no longer works. I still get 32 MPG at 60mph. With a set of new tires it's like a tank in snow.

32 mpg? That sounds damn good for one of those. My car can get 25 at best 😂 but it's also a big V6. Now I want one of these

@@darthdarthbinkss With the turbo mine gets 22 average, and i drive like there is an egg under the gas pedal, but totally worth it for that sound XD

Have you checked the cable under the seat? If the clamps are worn out or have been pulled on with too much force, the cable simply slips out of it's recipient in the thermostat, which is just shoved into the seat.
(If the actual heating mat is intact.)
But be careful if you have the SIPS side airbags, they must be secured via the red safety clamp provided under the cover attached to the seat itself.❤

If Volvo were to return to this body/power train style it would sell, sell, sell. In the meantime, my 850 Turbo wagon becoming a rare sight on the road. Great review, but you missed quite a few pieces of equipment.

Funny that you call it the Lamborghini station wagon, volvo actually had an ad for the previous wagons (740/940) that had a picture of a Ferrari with a trailer and simply said "yeah, it's kinda like that"

Someone once told me in reddit that an inline 5 is the closest engine to a V10. I guess that's why it sounds like the huracan with the muffler deleted. :)

850 GLT wagon ,to this day has been my favorite car. It had a lot more lux. Heated seats & drive style selection. Wet weather sport & economy mode. 5 cylinder turbo was a beast on the highway.

Yes, the rust proofing is outstanding because it's galvanized and that Volvo had learned from the 70s and early 80s when salty swedish roads ate 240s like they were made of wafers.

I also have an 850 however, mine has heated seats front and rear, and a trip computer for temperature and miles per gallon and stuff and a power sunroof.
But it has no power adjustable seats and surprisingly no central lock button, i had no idea that was even a thing for the 850

    • @yeetmachine1737

In mine its just the lock on the drivers side that locks them all, and from the outside all the keyholes act as a central lock.
