Great video thank you. One thing not to do that I learned on my 850R is do not replace the SRS dash indicator with a LED as it will blink every second or so which is quite annoying especially at night. I was in the dash for the odo gear fix and thought swapping out all the incandescent lamps in the dash for LEDs would be a good idea for longevity. Now I have to go back into the dash to swap at least the SRS indicator back to incandescent. The Volvo dash is not one of my favourite jobs. :-(
Love it. I have a 850 turbo sedan project I just got for 400$ hopefully one day it's almost this fresh. Also have a non turbo wagon that's the daily cruiser. Love my Volvo's
My S60 has a six speed. After driving through mountains this summer with it. I appreciate every gear, 6 mostly for gas mileage. It's costs at 80 getting 30 mpg
I love these old Volvos. Some of the best cars ever made. Great review btw, I really enjoyed watching it. Anyway, I was looking to see if you have ever done a review on a Chevrolet SS (SEDAN). I did not see one. I cannot remember what brought me to your channel anymore but glad I am here I watch all your uploads and have gone back in the archives and watched quite a few of your older ones. I was lucky enough to snag a new SS back in Oct of '16. It most likely is the last new car I buy (maybe) as I am retired. Yeah it sold pretty fast. The only guy who came to see it in person put down a deposit the next day and bought it! Lots of interest in this car, glad it went to a good home. And it’s staying in MI
Your IPD exhaust sounds from the drivers seat a lot like my P1 T5 AWD w stock duel tips. You get that rumble, that back suction growl right around 3-4k rpms. Cruising at 40mph at 3.5k when you slam on the throttle it like shoots it out, and sometimes you can get a pop. I've notice my P2 2.4T with a stock single exhaust tip doesn't have these exact sounds, but sounds very good still. And also they are two different I5s w different valve timing setups, intake manifolds and turbos. So I guess the lesson is, not all I5s are the same. Great video, sad you had to sell the AT, there's never too many Volvos you can have.....like past lovers but yo get to keep'em. Volvo for life!
Hey, I’m pretty sure your manual came from a guy near my neck of the woods, which is Concord NH. Great video and a lovely car. The manual 5-spd turns this car into a real beast. Enjoy!
Here in Sweden and Europe some take 400-500 HP out of that engine and use it at daily driver. It's fun to see the faces of Porsche riders when you drive away from them on the autobahn.
I am very much in the minority here but I vastly prefer the auto in the 850R over an M56 car. I have driven several swapped ones, 2 of them done really well and it just doesn't feel the same. The auto's gear ratios in my opinion are WAYY better than the M56 that all the NA 850's got (99% sure that's what is swapped in this). The key to doing this swap well is also updating the ECU to Motronic 4.4 but almost nobody ever does that. 1998 C/S/V 70 T5M's will always drive a hair nicer right out the gate because of that. The manual swap is cool but I'd pick the auto 850R every time over the 5 speed swap. I still need to drive one with the proper ratio'd transmission from the Euro 850R (for those that don't know, 850 Turbo, T-5R, R, and T5 cars were all auto in the US but in Europe & some years in Canada you could get a manual turbo 850)
I got one recently, it’s my 2nd 850 Wagon, and it’s my 3rd Volvo. One word: BEAST. Don’t want to cliche it but it’s like Thor’s hammer. Raced a few idiot Vin Diesel wannabes with 1.2 litre Renaults with fart cannons for exhausts. Beat them every time, even won a race against a Skyline.
Is overtaking from right side allowed in US? So many illegal overtakes when compared to Finnish traffic laws lol. Left side should be only for overtaking here
