    • @2bookoo4u
      @2bookoo4u Год назад

      Be forewarned that the soul crystal red paint is fragile, and it's a very difficult color to repaint if it's ever in a wreck. I had a CX-5 GT with the red paint. Ended up trading for a CX-5 Signature in deep crystal blue mica. Google the soul red paint. Lots of complaints with that color's durability. I believe the CX-50 also uses the soul red crystal paint. Just some food for thought.

      That is not ingot blue. Ingot blue is only on non turbo models. The color you see is polymetal grey. It is $395 option.

    I very much like both the interior (except the piano black around the shifter) and exterior styling of the CX-50. I have one in up here in Canada. The only thing I don't like about it, is the air conditioner. Not sure who is in charge of that department for Mazda, but they should be fired, lol! I don't know what has happened to Mazda's air condtioning in their vehicles in the past generation. I had a 2019 Mazda 6 sedan turbo Signature, 2022 CX-5 turbo signature (signature is your premium plus turbo) plus test driving the 2023 CX-90 turbo Signature and the cabin barely gets cool even on the lowest setting after driving it for at least 10 minutes. My wife's 2015 CX-5 GT gets frosty after only 30 seconds. The 2023 Nissan Rogue Platinum I test drove was frosty after 15 seconds, and yes these were test driven on very hot days. The torsion beam suspensioni is a non factor unless you are canyon carving. I agree that I wish they would have kept the acoustic glass, as the cabin isn't quite as quiet as my CX-5. The strip down the seats I don't notic at all. I do however get a lot of second glances from pedestrians, and motorists alike. Cheers!

      Thanks for sharing this. I live in Texas so the a/c is a big deal. I asked a salesman and he's telling me the opposite. He says the a/c in the older ones wasn't that great, but the newer ones are better. But he's a salesman.

  • @vickigarrison3161
    @vickigarrison3161 Год назад +1

    I just test drove this last week I don't think the 50 drives anything like the cx-5. The 50 drives much stiffer and feels much heavier and more planted. Maxda also uses double payne glass for a quiet cabin. The only thing I dislike about the 50 is the seat height- the few inches shorter makes a big difference for me. Also, if I'm paying for a higher trim I better get a panoramic moonroof that opens all the way. It only opens about 6 inches- disappointing.

  • @daynevickers1079
    @daynevickers1079 Год назад +2

    Mazda has a winner here, no doubt; powerfully designed, with just right use of lower height, width with great looking haunches, this one really grabbed my attention. The only thing(s) I would like would be perhaps a sliding rear seat (I haul some pretty big dudes around at times), a thicker rimmed steering wheel (for a more sporty feel to match the looks), and yeah, make that wireless charging actually work thru a phone case. I'd bet they went with the torsion beam rear suspension in order to increase the towing capacity to 3,500lbs as well make it more off-road capable. Great review!

    • @2bookoo4u
      @2bookoo4u Год назад +2

      I had a 2021 Acura RDX Tech I bought new. After 6 months it developed an irritating rattle in the dash. The moonroof sounded like it was going to explode going around tight turns on a slight incline. It also didn't even get close to the advertised gas milage. In my opinion, Mazda makes a far better vehicle. I currently own a 2022 CX-5 Signature. No rattles, gets the advertised gas milage, and the moonroof doesn't sound like it's going to explode. This is my 3rd CX-5 since 2017, and I haven't had an issue with any of them.

    I currently drive a 2018 CR-V with a 1.5 liter turbo charged engine. I am not sold on a turbocharged engine as the car seems underpowered unless you really step on it. It’s anything but smooth. I think that I would prefer a larger, non turbocharged engine as feel that it would be a smoother drive. I drove it from Wisconsin to Florida twice and it felt like I was really pushing it keeping up with traffic and when I checked the fuel mileage I was appalled. I was averaging 23 mpg. Certainly nothing to write home about for sure.

    • @gailenrique2804

      Rent a Mazda cx-5 and put in 93 octane. Might be expensive to put 93 octane, but you'll feel the Turbo kick in at low rpm. Unlike Honda, you'll get a CVT. Here, you get a tried and tested 6 speed transmission.

    The CX50 is not only for the USA, it sells also in Canada and in 2023 will be selling in Latin America and some European countries. The reason why Canada and the United States were the first was obviously because the can sell it at a higher price,once they covered that then they sell it in other countries.

    Question for long term Mazda owners. Have you noticed/had to make repairs for carbon build up in your direct injected engines? Mazda is known for reliability, but carbon build up can become a serious and expensive problem. If the engines do get problems with carbon build up early in their useful life, it wouldn’t make sense to think of their vehicles as highly reliable.

    • @2004cyrus
      @2004cyrus 2 года назад +1

      I’m on my 5th one, that’s the only brand I’ve ever owned because they are so reliable. No carbon build up so far. I’ve had the 3, the 6, the old CX-7, the CX-5 and now a new CX-5.

    • @2004cyrus
      @2004cyrus 2 года назад +1

    Great review Kevin, with the wheels and the style I think its a much better looking vehicle than the CX5, a little less pedestrian. Not to say 40k is not a lot of money, but for a top of the line sport utility that will appeal to a more Subaru type of young person that will throw a kayak on top. I think they might be on to something, if you add the Mazda driving dynamics, and reliability I they have a market. Not for me, but unlike the Lexus LC with no F Sport, I can see where Mazda is going here, it makes sense.
