    Back in March i fell into a little Settlement. Decided to treat myself, got a Pre-owned '21 Lexus IS. Over the month even with it being certified i was having weird issues. Took it to 3 Lexus Dealerships that stated they couldn't find a issue. By this time, this was the third Toyota Product. After owning a 2014&2018 with some weird issues. In August after looking at the Mercedes C Class and Infiniti Q50 i went with this. But a Pre-owned '22 TLX Tech Package and traded in the IS. Didn't grow up with Honda Products. And was never a fan of Honda/Acura styling over the years. But this is the best choice of vehicle for me. My brother also likes it. He says he doesn't see a lot of newer Acura Sedans on the road. Only older ones. If anything new ,its always the Acura SUV'S. If something happened to my TLX, I'd get another one.

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  22 дня назад +2

      Yea that's really unfortunate and the IS is one of the old school Lexus products where one would think is going to be reliable and trouble free.
      Sure many in the comments and in forums will say they own an IS with over 150k miles without any issues but from your experience, it is clearly possible to have issues with those cars and this is my problem with today's cars, what can you truly trust to last?
      Really none of these new cars which is why I defaulted to leasing and dumping whenever it makes sense. I hope your TLX lasts tho

    I test drove a 2023 at a CarMax recently and I absolutely LOVED this car, driving dynamics and cabin noise is so low, truly luxurious and fun to drive.
    My concern lies with the reliability and build quality issues I keep hearing about from owners which pushed me towards the Lexus alternatives instead..

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  23 дня назад +5

      Yea my friend def drives nice but the main issue is what new luxury car doesn't have problems? There is nothing we can buy today that is going to last 10 years headache free I've stopped looking at modern cars as some sort of heirloom that can be kept for a long period of time this is why leasing as of late has really taken off especially for luxury cars as reliability and resale value (two of the biggest problems with luxury cars) pretty much goes away if you can get a good lease deal

      @2685544526855259 23 дня назад

      @MeynMotorGroup  23 дня назад +4

      @@2685544526855259 if you can get 5k off on a Type S then man that is tough to beat great price for that car.
      I have seen people negotiate $5k off on the Lexus IS 500 tho so discounted IS 500 vs Type S at sticker, I would choose the IS 500
      Not every lease is worth it (most suck due to high rates) just gotta run the numbers on a calc to see I do know almost every performance car lease is going to be atrocious like on IS 500 or Type S
      Better off financing and extending warranty if need be or dump once warranty expires on most performance cars. Very rarely is there a good lease program on performance cars usually stuff that doesn’t sell like that C63 4 cylinder AMG

    I think people are becoming leery of the Honda 6 cyl engines in light of recent complaints over engine failures about connecting rod bearing failure, leading to catastrophic and complete failure of the engines. This is undergoing investigation by the NHTSA. Honda has done a massive recall, but they may need to do more. I wouldn't take the risk buying one of these as much as I would love to have one.

      Yes lots of engine issues as of late but the real issue is what car doesn't have problems? This is why people who buy luxury cars have given up on finding a reliable car and just lease and dump these products as there is nothing that is going to last 10 years problem free anymore

      Here’s the thing. The we have modern versions of the Honda V6 in a 2016 Acura MDX, and another in a 2020 MDX. Our neighbors also have Honda Pilots (2017 and 2021) with no issues with the exception of the 9-speed auto that a bit clunky in our 2016 MDX. I think the issue is that people change their oil based on the maintenance minder. Which will stretch intervals to almost infinity ♾️. We all typically change our oil based on a 3k-5k interval no matter what… oil is cheap and engines aren’t. Plus, it’s great that Honda/Acura taking responsibility for this and are repairing/updating the engines. The European manufacturers wouldn’t have

    I am a fan of most the Acura brand. I own a 2022 ILX premium package, its my 3rd one from the 2014 to the 2018 to my curennt 3rd ILX model. I am waiting to be able to level up into the other product lines of the TLX very soon, and go for either an A-spec or Type-S TLX. I've remained in the ILX because I love this car over it's Integra replacement and will wait to get into a larger Acura soon. But, I'm hearing great stuff about the Integra, but it's essentially a new version of my ILX premium, and I'd like to upgrade into a larger Acura, sticking with the Brand.

    I think that if you spending money like that then you want the better engine. I’m looking at the type s like I like the performance but I don’t want the boy racer look. I’d prefer something a bit more subdued. The second point is when they unveiled the concept it was a two door. I get that that’s not what sells but I feel they should have kept that and just made a four door model as well (TL/CL) and that back seat might not have been a problem.

    • @MeynMotorGroup

      That is true MSRP wise Type S can be had for like 8k more from an A-Spec and you're getting a way better experience although it is common to get 10% off on something like an A-Spec so the difference is closer to like $13k from an A-Spec to a Type S which is commonly sold at sticker sadly

    I'm not sure this guy understands his economics. And I don't mean any offense to that. A car is not necessarily bad, because you don't see it often, which seems to be your main claim. Cue the exotic cars or niche types, like sedans. We've all known that sedans have become much more rare in the last decade or two. That doesn't mean consumer demand for sedans is low. Manufacturers dictate the supply. And cars are not an on-demand commodity, like bath tissue or toothpaste. I think one of the main points trying to made is simply missed.
    Edit:
    Owner of a 21 TLX Advance. I have heated seats for 4 people. Heated steering wheel. Air cooled seats (although lacking in force). Navigation built-in, which I think is very undervalued. Heated steering wheel, HUD, remote engine start. All of this for $35k with Honda reliability seems like a great deal to me. Oh, wait, there's more? I'm still driving an 05 Accord with 250k miles on it as winter beater. I even put brand new snow tires on her. Sure, the A/C went out, but fuck it. I paid $4000 for it in 2016 and every time I accelerate at stop light, a nickel hits me in the face and conveniently lands in the nickel drawer.

I had both models and i feel like it’s a decent choice for this segment but the m340i or the S5 sportback is a far wayyyy better choice in so many ways. Acura is not as reliable as you may think. Both aspec and type s i had nonstop issues with transmission and electronics. Quality was horrible. Acura corporate was insane to deal with. For me it’s a 6/10 vehicle and the type s is a 6.5 or 7/10. Just lacks technology, power and efficiency. I don’t feel like the price matches the luxury that you expect. The report is a bit real world skewed. The entire sedan market is suffering. The Integra is an entry level vehicle that people get because they can't afford the TLX and then use the excuse of it having less room in the rear seating area. They bitch and moan that it should have more room because a comparable Audi or Mercedes has more room in that same area. My question is will they actually go buy from one of those manufacturers? I believe that most talk, but fail to act on the European car purchase. People have to understand that the TLX is SPORTS SEDAN, NOT a FAMILY SEDAN. if a family sedan is what they want, then there are other manufacturers that build them.
    The MDX is a whole different situation because it operates on a whole different cost end of the market, as it goes to the more affluent side of the spectrum. SUV's in that category are ridiculously high. So compare the price of all levels of the MDX to a Chevrolet Traverse The last time I looked, you'll pay more for a Chevy Traverse than a base model MDX. Either way, they both sell well. And why is that? Because there is more want for group room. Sport sedans don't cater to group room, only personalized room for two.
    For those who have chosen the TLX, they did so in knowing they weren't worried about the back seat room. That thought was dismissed while making the final to purchase one. If the available room is an issue, there are plenty of Toyota Camrys out there for purchase. With the Nissan Altima and Maxima, you get a CVT. There's always Hyandai & Kia. They still use real transmissions. The TLX has real transmissions.
    Another reason you don't see as many TLX's is that the production has been scaled down because of the re-tooling of another assembly plant to accommodate the production of electric vehicles. I had a hard time trying to find a 2024 TLX of any model. The Detroit Metro area dealer weren't stocking them. They couldn't tell me the reason why not. I was gonna order one but a salesperson at the dealership that I've dealt with since 1998 didn't get back me. (The salesperson I talked to, quit and didn't tell me.) I went to another another dealer and they had ONE new TLX on the lot. It is a gray A-SPEC. I bought it. I also own a 2019 TLX A-SPEC with Super Handling AWD. I bought it brand new too. Both cars have different suspension set ups. The 2024 allows for 3 driver selectable dampening settings. I don't know of another vehicle in that category at a similar price that allows for that kind of control. If there is one, you'll pay much more.
    The Integra is for young folks who need room and want to practice practicality. I once owned a 1996 Integra LS SE coupe with a 5 speed manual. But I've grown up and can now afford a bigger vehicle. (The RDX was designed by a woman for woman.)
    The bottom line is this: 80 mph is 80 mph, no matter how you get to that speed, it all the same. As far as I'm concerned, when a buyer purchases a sport sedan, they are buying a sports coupe with 2 extra doors. And because I don't see many TLX's on the road, I feel that makes my selections affordably unique.

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  22 дня назад +1

      Right that's why these don't sell because only a few people are able to put up with the compromises of the TLX and actually appreciate the strong points of the TLX.
      For the average buyer the cons are too much of a turn off and the pros which is mainly driving dynamics is something nobody really cares about anymore as the average person is simply doing 20 mph under the speed limit.
      That's why I mentioned the sales figures of a rival vehicle, a Lexus ES which is a sedan and sells over double the units of the TLX as the average person can appreciate the pros of the ES and live with its cons more.
      Just google sales figures my friend it's very easy to pull up these data points. I know you love the TLX and yes it is a blessing to own/drive.

    • @virgilwyatt4632
      @virgilwyatt4632 21 день назад

      @@MeynMotorGroup The problem with the Lexus ES is that it is more of a luxury-sport sedan than a sport-luxury sedan. With a sports sedan, sports coupe and especially a sports car, it is imperative that SPORT be infused in the design of vehicle in both design & mechanics. The Lexus is comfy looking. It's old folks looking. And this is coming from the writer of whom is 62 years old. It does not inspire spirited driving. (Even the Toyota Camry TRD inspires spirited driving.) It LOOKS TOO GROWN UP.
      Even though Lexus isn't as old as Acura, it seems that they have done what is needed to to cover a broader spectrum of the market. However, when it comes to the current TLX and even the somewhat initially the mix-up 1st generation TLX, Acura kept, or at least tried to keep in sport over luxury. I own one of each. And before the 2019 TLX A-SPEC SH-AWD that I currently own, I owned a new 2010 Acura TL Tech SH-AWD with a 6 speed manual transmission. When it was hit by 16 y/o driving a pick-up truck, it was totaled. I replaced it with the new 2019. There was nothing else in that category that even captured my attention. But this car has 2 draw backs to me. One is the push-button transmission selector switching. I'd rather have a shift lever like the one found in the same 1st generation TLX, of which was mated to the 2.4 liter inline 4 cylinder engine. It allows the interior vehicle to stay sport sedan looking. The other was the copycat switch to Mc Pherson Struts on the front suspension like BMW. The 2nd generation TLX returned this affordable sedan to the sophistication of the TL's and other Acura/Honda products long before it.
      The TLX is a stand out for a cheap price.
