Normally i´m not a Lexus fan but i must say, i like this SUV, looks good, drives good, comfy seats inside, good room inside and many engine choices. Thanks Kevin.
I have no guilt driving my Cadmium Orange 450h+ around town. Too bad you don't like the touch sensitive buttons, but they are actually easy to use. They do offer the standard buttons on the lower trims.
21:36 The mechanism isn't unnecessarily complicated, it's there for a very good reason. Ever had to swerve because someone threw open their door without looking? In the NX 450h+ the opening mechanism is linked to the blind spot monitoring and if it senses traffic coming, the door won't open. Another nice safety feature you didn't mention is the front cross traffic alert. There are sideways looking radars in the front bumper so at intersections the car can "look around the corner". If traffic is coming you'll see a flashing arrow in the HUD.
@@MeynMotorGroup The plain and simple fact is that traffic is much safer now than in the "good old days", and in no small part due to such safety systems. Or would you prefer that cars were still built like the Ford Pinto?🔥 You can always choose to ignore or disable the safety systems. Personally I prefer to have them.

Seats are very comfortable but they just don’t have the “plush” feel of semi aniline or even the fake NuLuxe. I believe Lexus regards these seats as being an upgrade over the NuLuxe for the NX models but idk seats feel generic to the touch but when you sit in them they are very comfortable and supportive. I would say more supportive than the NuLuxe seats in the RX
ES would be at the top RX & CX-9 about a tie and NX at the bottom. NX doesn’t ride bad it’s just not as plush as the others. NX does handle the best out of the bunch
Thanks for your thorough review. I have been waiting for my NX 350h for 8 months now and no update yet.I like everything about 350h except for its noisy interior while not in battery mode, and the steering wheel touch buttons.
Thanks again Kevin. Could you tell me your thoughts on how this new NX feels vs the 2022 RX as far as refinement, quietness and nimblessness and handling?
Making a dedicated video on that! RX is quieter & smoother NX does handle a bit better & better fuel economy. Both are surprisingly about the same size in terms of interior
Great review. I really wish Lexus would reconsider its exterior styling. I wouldn't buy it simply cause it looks goofy. I think the LC500 is the only vehicle in their line up that's compelling in the aesthetic department.
Imho, Lexus should never have offered the 250 and made the 350h the NX's base model instead. I hope you get to test the NX350h and compare it with the Venza :)
Starting to see these NX's on the road. Exterior wise it looks stunning in person. It stands out (deisgn language) compared to other cars on the road. Interior: disapointment with the basic front passanger dashboard, and the amount of piano black plastic used. For my money i'd get the 2018-2021 NX Executive Pacakge.
Front passenger side of the dash does really cheapen the whole look of the interior. That was really the first thing stroke me as a surprise when this was revealed first. Previous gen NX had a nice combination of material and design in that area.
Kevin, that is what kept me from considering the 450h+ as soon as I found out it didn't have the ML. On another note, at one time I was almost sure I was going after the RX, and I ended up driving one when I got a loaner from Lexus when getting a service. I noticed that even though it has all the features mentioned, a midsized SUV wasn't to my liking. I have rented compact suvs on vacation and I have always driven sedans. So when I drove the RX it felt like I was driving a bus or a minivan. The following week, they gave me an NX as a loaner, and I was surprised by the handling like you mentioned, but I didn't like the way the suspension felt. This is the older NX I am talking about. So I figured the new NX should be my target. The 350h to be specific. As long as they improved the suspension. On another note, do you think it might be worth it to swap or eventually get regular tires to quiet the road noise?
Yea my friend 350h is definitely the way to go. And yes the new NX suspension is significantly improved over the previous NX but still not as smooth as the RX but that’s fine it’s very good. Does your NX come with 18” wheels or 20” wheels? It can make the NX a bit smoother with 18s and the problem with switching to traditional tires is when you get a flat 😅 it will be a bit annoying waiting for a tow truck. But I guess you could keep a quick fix kit on you. Normal tires would be a lot quieter
@@MeynMotorGroup I realize that about the tires and I don't want to jinx myself but in the 30 years I have been driving I have owned three or four cars or more and I have never used the spare tire.
I wanted to rip that infotainment screen off when I found out there was no ML available for the 60k NX so I would def rather save $10k get the NX350h AND get the ML audio with that 😅😂
Everything addressed apart from 1 thing! I can't believe they're now using piano gloss black on so much of the interior, that simply will not age as well as the matt coated plastics in the previous generation cars.. Otherwise a great car, nice review! I still think the 350h AWD is the sweet spot though for this vehicle, it brakes and handles slightly better due to it being significantly lighter. Also, now with electricity being insanely expensive and petrol prices dropping here in the UK, the 350h makes much more sense as it's around 10-12k cheaper, there's simply no advantage of the 450h now apart from 0-60 time. Couldn't agree more about no ML audio in the 450h, that's a stupid egregious decision on the part of Lexus, shame!
Yea my friend I was pretty disappointed by the use of glossy black plastic I believe this is the first time ever that I’ve seen that in a Lexus. I agree 350h makes so much more sense on more levels, plus you can get the ML audio and it still ends up being cheaper than the 450h
@@MeynMotorGroup it's definitely a worrying trend for Lexus, the bean counters are clearly winning in some areas. Great review though Kevin, keep the awesome work :)
@@MeynMotorGroup Might have mentioned this, but I'm probably pulling the trigger on an ES 350 next year. I may reconsider if interest rates go above 10%. LOL!
This nx450h+ is super quiet in electric mode but becomes a more than ordinary car when the petrol engine starts, it seems to me that it does not have enough soundproofing, which makes it very unpleasant and noisy when the petrol engine starts, especially on the highway, and that's where it's even more important to have a quiet car. I had, before this Lexus, a Mercedes diesel GLK 250 which was very very quiet compared to this supposedly quiet Lexus. I am very unsatisfied to have paid $92,000 for a supposedly silent SUV! Every year I do 3000KM twice with this device which makes an unacceptable noise! I'm really disappointed, Lexus has to adjust to what the customer wants, stop giving a fuck!

@@MeynMotorGroup I think it's important to note that Toyota and Lexus' eCVT isn't a CVT in a traditional sense. Seems like they're just calling it so for marketing purposes 😅

The q5 phev is also better The nx is just a rav4 w lipstick and somehow with their pathetic marketing techniques Lexus expects us to call it luxurious when we can see it’s really not. Rebadging a rav4 Camry and just changing logos and a few curves here or there doesn’t make it luxury
Yes that’s correct my friend they are platform mates but each vehicle gets different enhancements depending on the class. NX is far smoother and quieter and has more insulation than a RAV. VW & Audi are platform mates for many of their vehicles. Some Audis, Porsches, & Bentleys are platform mates. Old Rolls Royce Ghost was on the 7 series platform. But you are an expert on European vehicles, so I’m sure you know a 7 series and a Ghost are different for obvious reasons 😊
I like the styling and performance of most Volvos, BMWs, and Audis nearly as much as most people, but I rarely drive my cars to their performance thresholds. Aside from seeking reasonably good styling, performance, technology, safety, luxury, and comfort in a vehicle, I really care about the long term reliability and cost to repair and maintain a vehicle over 10-15 years ... that's not a particularly strong suit of European vehicles, but I also acknowledge many people lease or sell their vehicles before the warranties lapse. Regarding the Toyota Rav4 Prime comparison, the NX 450h+ has more going for it than lipstick, but I don't disagree that the Prime is a better value proposition than the 450h+ if both are purchased at MSRP. Therein lies the "fly in the ointment" for some of us. My local Toyota dealership was marking up Rav4 Primes $10,000 over MSRP, as were many other Toyota dealerships. My local Lexus dealer sold me my NX 450h+ at MSRP, which made my decision a no brainer.
