Bring back that fast old courts and we will get to see more of these Davydenkos and Gonzalez and Safins instead of over rated wannabe social media millenials.
@@taopaille-paille4992 Close but no. 2009-2016 was still really good, specially from '10 to '13 with nadal's phenomenal years and novak peaking. 2017-'20 was really bad.
I claim myself to be one of the biggest fans of Davy and yet , I haven't seen some of these points Magnificent thank you ! Davydenko's quickness is unmatched in addition to his legs/hand-eye coordination ! Finally Davydenko is getting a little more recognition thank you !
He was such a fantastic player. Lucky to see him play in person. Amazing footwork, court coverage, and racquet head speed. If I was a player on the tour, I would seek him out as a coach.
Until the Ultron years, Davydenko was the only man to have played Nadal more than 10 times and have a positive h2h. Hugged the baseline like nobody else.

An absolute monster from the baseline. Power and angles were so good. He was at his peak from the end 2009 till the AO 2010 where he blew Federer away for 1,5 sets. After that the match and his whole career went complete downhill inexplicably.
First up: Tennis TV....thank you so much for all these fabulous highlights you've been posting during lockdown. Have enjoyed them so much. Second up: I loved Davydenko. Always seemed to hit the ball a quarter second faster than anyone. Court coverage and anticipation like the great David Ferrer, but at a speed turned up just a notch. In that regard only Monfils and DeMinaur have ever matched him, imo. His two-handed backhand was both lethal and a joy to behold. I reckon Murray watched and learnt a lot about his angles. How he never won a slam is beyond me. Just goes to show how narrow the win / lose margin is at this level.
Felix Y davydenko talented player amazing to think he didn’t win a slam or even get to a slam final but at least he won the ATP finals and 3 masters series
@@trulaila8560 But Dimitrov made 3 grand slam semi finals as well and won ATP Finals beating Thiem and Cincinnati 2017 beating Del Potro(who made it to US Open semi final following week beating Federer). I guess Davydenko is better. Who do you think is better?
Basically played Djokovic's game before Djokovic did. Defensive, but determined to stick to the baseline and apply pressure wherever possible. Sadly he never quite seemed bothered enough to really go for slams; he loved playing lower level tournaments with high prize money and was very successful in those tournaments. The ATP finals he won showed he could mix it with the best when he wanted though.

No ... that was not his weapon. That is Nadal and Djoker's weapon - lack of consistency was Davy's weakness. Some days he would just be off and nothing would work. Amazing amazing player. Totally deserved his master final. He should have won a grand slam!
Davydenko was such a machine. The pressure he exerted on a constant basis with his depth and directional control was truly scary.
