It’s great that you get not just current wrestlers, it’s cool to catch up with the stars of the 90s, Charles always looks like he genuinely enjoys life
The guy had a very healthy relationship with wrestling, he took it seriously but not too much. At 60 he looks 10 years younger when many of his generation have died, good for him.
@@ChrisVanVlietgodfather comes across as a Lovely guy. Genuinely kind, caring, down to earth. Wise beyond his years. Well meaning towards to anyone he meets? I could be wrong, do you find that when you interviewed him? It comes across in the interview .
Man this is the first time i didn't skip 1 second of the stories. I'm only 30 years old and didn't have the chance to watch him wrestle but this dude is awesome to listen. Awesome interview and great person.
I definitely was watching something I shouldn’t have been watching at 3yrs old lol . I just turned 29 last week and i remember so much from the late 90s wrestling . Late 90s to early 2000s was the best time period of wrestling hands down
Godfather and Billy Gunn are always the 2 most bubbly guys on these interviews, They come on and start chatting and I'm giggling right on along with them 😎
20 years ago, no one would have ever expected that The Godfather would be one of the best and most entertaining interviews in wrestling. It's so freaking cool.
One of the best to ever do it and i remember Papa Shango' being one of the most feared wrestlers in the world and he was huge!! excellent interview Chris.
Chris this is up there as one of my favorites of your interviews. You could interview a wet napkin and make it fun! Glad to see Godfather in great health and crushing life! Thanks for a great childhood!
I'm such a big fan of Charles. As a kid, I loved how much fun he had in the ring, and as an adult, I love the fact that he only did what he did as long as he was enjoying it. Everyone should try to live their life that way!
i was at that Raw in St Louis the night after owen fell....i'll never forget the atmosphere out there...the matches were nothing special in terms of what they were doing but even as a 9 year old i remember just how much those guys were wrestling for owen that night....idk how to explain it properly but it was heavy yet also inspiring in a way
As a kid watching wrestling in the mid 90s, I actually liked the look of his Kama, Supreme Fighting Machine character in the Million Dollar Organization. It reminded me a lot of a character in Street Fighter. Another great interview, CVV. Thanks for the memories, Charles.
I'll never forget when The Godfather came out at the Royal Rumble in 2013. Of course he got eliminated instantly, but it was more about seeing him than it was him actually wrestling for me. About a week later my Dad passed away. And I remember having finally made a Twitter and I tagged him and told him that it was so cool seeing him come back to which he replied "Thanks! It means a lot!" And with the Godfather being one of my all-time favorite wrestlers, that was just such a cool moment to have, even if it was on Twitter. And that really picked up my spirits, because of how depressed I was after losing my father. So I will always be a fan of Mr Charles Wright aka The Godfather. "Pimpin' ain't, pimpin' ain't, pimpin' ain't easy man!"
I agree with The Godfather so much on weed, it has helped me in my everyday life so much. It has made me quit so much awful things and drop such bad habits I was doing, I'm thankful for weed. I'm glad Godfather also had that experience.
I was at the Las Vegas show and honestly it really wasn't that bad I can understand why the godfather doesn't like to talk about it but for all the fans that were in attendance I think it was a great show and I think that you two did an amazing job and it's one of my favorite memories of all time
I'm glad Charles Wright ended up having fun with the Godfather gimmick. I'd have fun too with it, imagine getting that pop every time you came out and just dancing and acting silly. I remember when I first saw Papa Shango when I was a kid and the voodoo "magic" gimmick he did. it was creepy as a kid, but I loved it. Though I recall thinking Papa Shango was shorter than he really was. I thought he was like 5-10 or 5-11, finding out it was Wright, I'm like Shango was 6-6?!?! Kid vision must be playing tricks on me.
So I live in Las Vegas and I was randomly at a bar. I think it was at Timbers and he came in and I looked over at him and I was like are you Bear and he's like do I owe you money? It was the funniest shit ever. Super cool dude. I didn't even ask him to take a picture cuz I didn't want to be that kind of fan but he came over and offered to take a picture with me and we did. Super cool guy. Salt of the Earth, can't say enough good things about him although I really wish Papa Shango would make a comeback. LOL
I met the godfather about 11 or 12 years ago at cheetahs in my buddy took me outside and we walked to the other side where his office was.thw godfather is exactly like this such a cool guy and d-lo brown was security.
Love listening to Godfather interviews I was supposed to meet him in Vegas in 2018 but I didn't get to a lot of bad things happen to me that year and I didn't get to meet Godfather of Godfather still isn't mad at me I feel bad about not being able to meet him back then things didn't go the way I planned I hope he's still ain't mad at me I still got to make it up to him one day
My coworkers interviewed the Godfather on their very first podcast episode three years ago. If I ever get the opportunity, I’d be honoured to smoke with him.
51:00 WM 16 (billed as Wrestlemania 2000). I recorded that one on VHS and may very well still have it. They opened the show. I don't remember who they wrestled, just that they lost and they never used that song again. I actually preferred it, but I understand. Can't really disassociate Godfather from the regular entrance music.
He was at Exstravaslamza a few months ago and walked out with my brother in law Eddie Levaughn! Toke Signals needs a Godfather sesh!! It's almost like you were meant to do an episode of Toke Signals! We could definitely keep up with the smoke....we have issues also. 😅☁️✌🏼😎☁️
I did not know that Charles saw his Kama character and Kama Mustafa characters as separate characters... To me they are the same, same name, similar gimmick - bad ass fighter. One being in the Nation, one being in the Million Dollar Corporation...

Ok
It's the new BSK! taker, Charles, my boy maven, cvv, and the Godwin's! I'm the next in the faction along with my booker t
Chris my man, settle down on that Shango promo lol
Hey Chris when Godfather was mentioning Ron Simmons and Bradshaw it made me think they would be awesome to do an interview with!
The Godfather taught me a valuable lesson to me when i was 11 back in 1999 that "Pimpin Ain't Easy".
Facts 😂😂😂😂😂😂.
“Roll that blunt up and say!!!!! PIMPIN AINT EASY!!!!!”
@@adamweger40”Roll a fatty, for this Pimp Daddy!”

Vince is finding that out now !
your reaction after hearing the Godfather doing Papa Shango's thing is priceless... looks like you literally want to cry
Scared him like he was kid again 😂

Charles looks AMAZING for his age. Loved The Godfather from back in the day!
😂 Stop being a weirdo. Theres no need to use his government.
Currently listening to this on Spotify. The godfather comes across as such a genuinely nice person.
He really does seem like a cool dude.
That’s dedication. Listened on Spotify and came to RUclips to leave a comment for engagement
He’s one of those nice guys that has a demon inside if you hit the right nerve

I can't believe The Godfather is 63 years old, that man doesn't age!
Right when I read this comment Godfather said I’m 63 years old while I was watching.
Dude Papa Shango…. My man was a beast. Absolutely loved that character. Awesome interview as well!!!
The guy had a very healthy relationship with wrestling, he took it seriously but not too much. At 60 he looks 10 years younger when many of his generation have died, good for him.
Well said. 🤙🏼
Godfather is one my favorite character in the late 90s, including Viscera and Big Boss Man
One half of possibly the most underrated segment of the Attitude Era, alongside William Regal. If you know, you know.
Ayyyy super early. Feels good being up here. Big Fan CVV, you got me through a lot of night shifts ❤️
Appreciate you SMcB!
"LIGHT UP A FATTY FOR BIG DADDY!!!"
😂😂😂 What a legend. Super nice guy.
The more I watch the GodFather interviews, the more I want to listen to him talk.

Another Great Interview Chris Charles Wright in a word #Awesome
I got to meet The Godfather earlier this year at a convention and he was probably one of the sweetest people!

man, Godfather coming out to Jerry Lawler's commentary was absolute gold
pleasantly surprised how well spoken he is. nice to see him looking healthy and not to worn out from the life.
Back into the early 90s I seen him magically make ultimate warrior pike in the ring. Freaked me right the hell out. Thanks for the great memories.
My favorite guest in the CVV chair!!!!!
This was a great interview. Such good vibes. Bravo Chris and Godfather 👏
If it wasn't for Charles Wright, we might never have had the American Badass. ❤ The Godfather.

He has such a great energy. Love this interview fellas.
He's always a great interview, even just off energy alone. His one with Taker felt like a bunch of buddies sharing some brews in the garage lol.
Papa Shango was awesome. I know Charles is in the HOF as the “Godfather” but “Papa Shango” needs to go in too.
