It’s amazing how subtly it is shown that the reason she said no to further lessons was her father’s silent disapproval. She wished to continue but she knew her father found the singing too impious and distracting from a humble god-fearing life. She was living in a prison indeed.
This is the French operatic baritone Jean-Philippe LaFont. I’m quite fond of Jack Black, but he’s better sticking with Tenacious D than trying out for opera!
@@luxio369 I'm curious. What do you think the point of the movie is? I admit that for a long time I thought their father was selfish in not letting his daughters pursue their own life paths and happiness. But, lately, I wonder if he didn't shield them from the world Babette decided to leave behind. After all, were the sisters unhappy? They were together and remained an important center of their village. The three women together became a blessing to one another and to the people there. So, I'd love to read your view on this beautiful film
A feast for the ears in one of the great food movies.
A divine scene
He is great in this. Just a beautiful scene.
Love this film, love this song
It shows how music can bring joy
Can we talk about how this must be Jack Black’s inspiration? If only he had gone the operatic rather than the rock route.
@Lisa Mathis I'd love to see Jack Black playing an opera singer.

Belíssimo!
When I watch this, I can’t help but think of Gaston in Beauty and the Beast.
Are they singing in French?
Yes ! A rare version that we have here!
Interesting, it was written in Italian.
Lindo
Quero o filme dublado
