I really appreciated this video! About 4-6 months ago I decided the grown adults I manage at work are not worth the stress I was going thru while trying to convince them to do their job. So I’m leaving my current job and giving up my short 20 min commute for a promotion with a 2hr+ commute BUT I will only be responsible for myself! Many have told me that I’m nuts because of the 2hr commute but knowing I won’t have to stress out about supervising/managing staff is so worth it! I start Monday 1/13/2025! Here’s to 2025! 🎉
That is so exciting! I know you will love this new chapter.
Thats a great way to say it, luke warm. Thats how I feel about some dolls too
Right, it's not that I don't like them, but I want to keep dolls that are extra special to me.
Looking forward to your Videos and VBR. Working full time, I am amazed at all you do on RUclips. ;-)
It's a lot, but I enjoy it.
You definitely made good points. I also need to declutter but getting started in earnest is hard. So far I've been letting things go in drips and drabs.
That is some progress.
Thank you for sharing Tammy. I really appreciate what you had to say about FOMO and culling too. Culling through my collection and through my possessions. It’s really difficult for me to stay with it. I will start and then get overwhelmed and stop. I would really like to hear about your progress throughout the yr. Maybe it would inspire me to do the same.I always enjoy your vlogs.
I will try to share and do more similar vlogs. It might help keep me on track too ;)
Filming weekly videos! Sharing more sewing and free patterns! ❤
That sounds like a good plan.
Hi Tammy. I have watched a few of your videos and particularly enjoyed your videos on Ellowyne Wilde. I think this is the first time I have made a comment though. Everything you spoke about resonated with me especially the part about FOMO. I have to tell myself that it's ok to not have a particular doll. It's hard when you see it everywhere and everyone is posting photos and talking about it. I have spent far too much money on dolls during the past few years so I need to cut back and only buy the odd special one. I can relate to the healthy eating, exercising more and most definitely the decluttering of stuff and mindfulness. I wish you luck. We should check in with each other at the end of the year to see how we did. Take care!
So glad you have commented. The support of this community means a lot to me. Yes, I might do update videos throughout the year to help keep me on track.
4:16 that's what I need to do but I don't know how to put a cap on what I like and when I don't like if I like it I buy it if I don't like it I don't buy it but sometimes there's certain doll lines that I have to have all of them of and then there's other doll lines where I can just pick and choose
Completing a collection, I totally get it.
I always enjoy your videos! You made so many great points. I really would love to focus on clothing for All of my dolls. There are a couple that I would love to add to my collection. My sister is an English professor as well. It can truly be stressful. I’m sure your students enjoy your class. Your background display looks really cool. ✨❄️✨❄️✨❄️✨
I love the idea of focusing on clothing! The dolls need stuff too! ha ha I'm not the most popular teacher because I'm very old school, but such is life ;) I want my students to learn in my class, not play on their cell phones.
Wonderful video! I know what you mean about enjoying what you have. Sometimes I just get into a doll frenzy over something new and I don’t spend as much time playing with the wonderful dolls I have already. Thanks for the reminder and inspiration! 🩷
I know what you mean. We all have our doll "obsessions" sometimes.
I am definitely in need of a declutter in my flat. I have boxes of things from a home move from about 7 years ago that I don’t even look in 😪
For dolls I only started collecting Blythe in 2024 so I have a big list but I also want to go to Blythecon Uk in October so early months some purchases but not overkill.
I also collect gen 1 My Little Pony, Rainbow High and Monster High dolls but I’ve got most of the RH dolls I want.
For RUclips I am massively inconsistent and my channel is mainly sharing tarot deck related items however I’m hoping to share more consistent content and share some of my dolls in 2025 because they’ve really helped me feel better the last few months especially on real difficult days (I have some health issues). I like the idea of sharing dolls I really like as opposed to unboxings.
Less stress for 2025!!! Yes 🙌🏻 also I can totally relate to needing to losing some weight though I really need to. I’m working on it!
And ai sucks!
Yes, "less stress" and "letting it go" for 2025! Thanks for commenting.
I completely get you about collabs!! I just don't have time to do a lot because of my day job - I can barely get my weekly videos out - hahaha! Love this video Tammy! Let's do a collab asap! LOL just kidding. 😆😆😆😍😍 Oh I love Yoga with Adriane! She's great!
I want to do the tag that you did recently. Thanks for watching.
@ yes! I would love that! Ambiei came up with those questions. Really fun tag!
9:50 I like this idea!! I am guilty of being a chronic unboxer.... To be fair I'm only unboxing things I really want anyway...
If you want them, nothing wrong about that.
Thanks for sharing your plans with us. We do feel overwhelm sometimes but if your faith is strong that will help you through... Take care and stay strong. Have a wonderful Wednesday. Keep the sparkles on. Lovies Yetta💕
Thanks for the well wishes!
I like hearing others plans for their dolls collecting, crafting downsizing and just life. It helps solidify thoughts and ideas I have had. Good luck on your journey
Thank you, I'm glad you found it helpful. Maybe I'll do this on occasion and give an update.
My husband and I have an on going donation box and we are free to fill it with items we no longer use. We have given away many wonderful possessions and always feel so good doing so! I try to remember that maybe someone will be blessed with our generosity, and try not to not to think about greedy resellers! Sometimes it's hard, especially when it comes to dolls!😁 But you are right, we can't take it with us! Thank you, Tammy!😊
That's a great idea. It's good to declutter! And exactly, when we are gone we actually might burden others with all of our stuff.
Love this video and I'm with you totally on all of this. I will probably be doing a similar doll plan video for the year soon, but essentially I need to be more mindful on what I'm buying too, I managed it quite well last year but I still have a ton of dolls that I need to unbox and I want to do more things with the dolls that I already have too. I've also started trying to go through what I own generally and trying to cut down on my belongings because I've realised that living with so many items and so much clutter just adds to my anxiety. I'm not going down the minimalist or Marie Kondo route but I have been watching a lot of Swedish Death Cleaning videos for tips.
Lastly, I just wanted to say how great you looked in this video! The lighting was lovely and you looked so well, also the background setting was perfect.
Thank you for that last comment because I was hesitant to get in front of the camera. My hair is a hot mess right now. I have a hair appointment this weekend, but I didn't want to wait too much longer on this video since all these ideas have been rolling around in my head for a while. I look forward to yours when it works for you to film one.
Thank you for sharing your goals with us! It was very entertaining and inspiring! ❤️🌟
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Can't wait to see what you do in the new year. I felt that HEAVY on the box openings all the time.
Happy new year! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment.
Everything you said, same here. Except retirement, I've already done that. Sew while you still have good vision. It never occurred to me that I would not be able to see what I am trying to sew, now that I have time to sew. Live and learn. I'm stubborn though, and still buying fabric. 😊
Thanks for that tip. Yes, one reason I don't do much cross stitching anymore is because of my eyes, and I could see how that could affect sewing too.
So lovely to hear about all of your plans! Here is to 2025! Glad to hear that you are thinking about retirement. I had to retire due to hip osteoarthritis (strenuous job teaching in special education), but luckily I was old enough and had the years to get my small pension and insurance. So many of my co-workers retired either because they had to due to health issues or had health issues come up right after retiring. It is sad really. Anyway, you are on a great track with yoga, getting rid of things you no longer need, and doing what makes you happy!❤ Take care!
I hope you are doing well! It's good to hear that you are retired and enjoying your life! 😊
Great listening to your thoughts. Don’t have or plan to have a RUclips channel (posting comments was a huge step for me!) but I practically share all your thoughts on doll collecting and life. Definitely need a slow down on doll collecting and feel I have a nice (and very large 🙄) collection to enjoy for a while. Definitely want to have more “no buy” months than not this year. For life, the same as you…lose weight, more reading for pleasure, more yoga and walking, and looking forward to planning for retirement sooner than later! 😊 I started with watching doll related videos a couple of years ago and have landed on subscribing to a lot of the ones you and other content creators watch. You all do so well making your viewers feel like friends and part of a community so your content is definitely appreciated, but at the same time, I agree that you or anyone else should not stress yourselves out by trying to post more than you can. Just keep it fun and manageable! 😊❤
Thank you for your thoughtful comment. This is a community that I really enjoying being part of too.
Im looking forward to seeing your bag of fashion packs!
I can't wait to show you what I've got!
Great Video Tammy, I really enjoyed this chatty style video. Your plans sound great! Having a smaller crew that mean more to you sounds like a great goal compared to having a over whelming amount of dolls to sew and care for. I have definitely noticed the youtube shift to, so much doll content is just about getting new dolls nowdays. When I started watching doll content back in the 2015ish it was much more focused on creating for them (Be that their stories, characters, sewing, crafts ect) and I enjoyed that so much more. I'm looking forward to seeing what you create for your crew as thats always been my favourite part of your channel. Good luck on your decluttering, it is quite the feat so please be kind and take it at a steady pace! 40 years of stuff is a lot and will be taxing to sort through both emotionally and physically. Your reading goal sounds great to reclaim something you love. I've always favoured listening to books that I can (Plus the added bonus of being able to draw or craft while 'reading') and then saving sit down and properly reading time for books you cant listen to like coffee table books, craft or manga. Heres to a happy and healthy 2025!
The effort to dig out my relative's house was sober, and you are right: It was a lot of emotional and physical work. I would find a half finished project of hers and just about cry. There were literally 3 pickup truck loads of stuff brought to my house that I had to sort through, and while I don't think I have that much stuff of my own, when I look at my house as a whole, well, there's a lot!
Thanks for sharing your plans/thoughts Tammy! really interesting! ❤
I've definitely calmed down with buying new dolls for myself, and have been SO GOOD not to have bought a new Smart Doll for months now...but I am definitely craving one😆
Hubby and I go to the gym 3 times a week, but I definitely need more than that after putting on nearly a stone over the last year😭I'm going to get back to doing core/calisthnetics workouts at home too, and have started intermittent fasting (16:8) as well. I'm going to tone up and shed some weight this year! 💪
Happy to hear you're planning retirement too! My mum is just a couple months away from retiring, and she's so excited to spend a lot more time crafting miniatures!
Here's to a happy and healthy year ahead for us all! ❤
I know a few people who do intermittent fasting, and it works very well for them. Smart Dolls are so tempting!!
@@TammyPowley I'm really glad to hear that! Lost a couple lbs so far🤞
A couple new black navy girls just dropped, veeeery tempting!🤣
Great video Tammy. You brought up a ton of good points from collecting to exercise. I do agree though, mindfulness is the key to 2025. I am really trying to rein it in this year and focus on purposefully adding to my collections. No more, "oooohhh pretty...add to cart". LOL
Exactly, I'm trying to not do just that, which I find is a struggle!
Great video Tammy! I loved all of it! Glad to hear I’m not the only one that still has wedding dishes I never use. (And I’ve been divorced for nearly 8 years now) 🥴 and I still have them in boxes. I too need to start purging some things! 😬 I would also like to get back into doing some yoga again and want to read more books this year too! 🧘♀️📚💞
Yes, yoga and reading are great goals!
@ totally! 💯📚👍
I agree with a lot of what you said and I have similar goals for his year. I am planning to post a New Year’s resolutions video this weekend.
I can't wait to see your resolutions video!
It was good to hear some perspective! I am also looking into retirement but it's a process and a big change. I agree with the scary part, especially when they tell you your benefits stop cold the very day you depart the job! However, I am dealing with arthritis and varicose veins , so my bones have about had it!
I also have many dolls in boxes, though my favorites are out and on display, I hate selling but cringe to just drop them off at a thrift store.
I haven't sewn in quite awhile but have been cross stitching and knitting a bit.
Thank you for sharing this part of your life, it was encouraging to listen to some similar circumstances.
I agree also about pulling back on activities that others have going and just pick which ones spark your joy!
I certainly wish you the best in all areas!
Thank you Mel :) for the kind words. I found a thrift store for a charity that I felt good about donating some of my relative's doll to. They were not my taste and very large, so shipping them anywhere would have been expensive. I did not want to just drop them off anywhere, but this store was for a good cause and very well kept.
Thanks for sharing your plans for the future. Yes….it’s a bit scary for change, but it can be exciting too.
That's the truth - change can be exciting!
I think you hit on a theme that resonates with a lot of people! I’m definitely going to sell off some of my impulse buys,be more mindful about what I buy in the future, and I do want to do more crafting. As I’m making my way through menopause- also have to shift my eating & exercise. I want to be able to have a very vibrant retirement.
I hope you can find success with your goals too!
I really enjoyed hearing all about your plans 😊 my partner and I live in the flat his parents once owned and he has been here since the late 70s. It’s filled to bursting ! We are both collectors, he has guitars, records and books and I have dolls, toys books and tarot.. we plan to move to a little house in the next few years so we have to rehome stuff. I hate putting things into landfill so try hard to find a good home for things but it can be really hard. I’m going to think out my collections and also get into customising and I plan to have a go at some new crafts like making doll wigs, re rooting and making a rag doll or two. I am a teacher too but art and history. My students are a bit young for AI luckily but surely they can invent a sort of reverse AI you can scan essays with that can tell if AI was used to write it? That would be great for teachers! Happy New Year 🎉
There is AI detection software, but it is not 100% proof that someone used it.
That sounds like you have a lot to declutter, but just knowing you need to do it is a big part of it IMO.
As a former English/writing teacher, I can relate to the reading fatigue and the stress! Big kudos to you for doing such a hard and important job. Creating syllabi and grading English papers are very taxing parts of that profession. I can imagine that AI is a whole new monster to tackle in education. (Sort of related: I'm concerned that AI will eventually take away my job as a writer/editor 😕). Take care of yourself and thank you for sharing your intentions for 2025 💜
I spent years as a freelance writer, and the publishing worlds has changed so much. Now, we have AI, and I think it will change yet again, so I think your concerns about AI taking over writing and editing jobs is very possible.
Such an insightful video Tammy, you and I are on a similar journey this coming year. Thank You!! Oh and I am going to try and be healthier this year too! I love yoga with Adrianne.
Yes, back on the road again to try to get in better shape!
@@TammyPowley Agree!
Same, I have too many. Yes I plan to get more, but I am getting rid of a lot of stuff. I get stressed looking at all of them.
Stress, exactly, too much stuff becomes overwhelming for me.
Hi Tammy. I am impressed that you can do 2-3 videos a week. I can only manage one a week but it’s important to know our limitations. I do agree that we should be enjoying what we have. I am in that camp for sure. I will be buying less this year and I look forward to hearing your ideas. I enjoy a little hand sewing but on a machine I find a bit intimidating. Your tutorials are great. It’s interesting, I have also given thought to what “stuff” I would be leaving as a burden for others to sort through. How nice that you had some nice things to donate to those who would appreciate it. Great video. It felt like we were having a cup of tea together. Speaking of tea.. I didn’t even know if you were married. How does hubby feel about your doll hobby? 🥰
2 to 3 is a lot still for me, but I try to film a few at a time so that I have a bit of a stash to edit from. Yes, I'm married ;) He is fine with the dolls. He has collected various items in the past so understands the idea of collecting, and he knows how I enjoy crafting.
If you already sew by hand, then I think you could handle a machine. Of course, if you know someone who sews that you can get some in-person help, that's always best.
Nice chat. 😊I am definitely on the same plan path…. We’ll see how that goes. Except for the exercise part 😬 Have a few physical challenges lately… sure does suck getting old. I do admire how you juggle so much - you always seem so busy. In a good way. I hadn’t given the AI thing much thought with respect to school until lately, chatting with a few teacher friends. Gosh. What a sad and terrifying concept, where we can’t even do our own thinking. Anyhow - here’s to 2025 🥂 and the start of a retirement countdown- it’ll be here before we know it and that that’s a whole another type of terrifying 😳 One day at a time….
You have to be tough to get old! Yes, I do tend to have a lot going on, which is why I have to say "no" sometimes, even if it's something I want to do, like all the fun collaborations that go on in the doll community. Thank you for your thoughtful comments.
First of all Happy new year Tammy !!! I wish you all the best and that you can achieve all the goals you’ve set up for this new year.
It was a very interesting video, thanks for sharing your point ! I have the same goals in terms of doll collecting. I’ve told myself I will buy only 2 or 3 dolls this year, cause I want to enjoy and spoil the ones I already have. But FOMO in Blythe is real… every new release I have to think mindfully before buying and telling me this is ok, if it’s not this one I’ll buy it will be another one cause there will be a new release almost every month and I can’t have them all right 😅
So yeah that’s a struggle
And as for my goals I want to learn sewing and crochet. Like you I love seeing crafting content for dolls, not just unboxing. So I’m looking forward to seeing yours!! 😊
I know the feeling, and I'm determined to enjoy what I have too, but the "new" is always tempting! have to admit that! I already have a few new dolls headed my way for 2025. Thank you for the thoughtful comment.
Lovely to hear your plans Tammy. I will try to create a plans for 2025 video.
Wonderful! I look forward to watching it.
Oh if you want a weight loss buddy let me know!:D
Good idea. I tried to make an IG group and added you to it but not sure if it worked or not.
@@TammyPowley I saw your message, but not the group, I will look again.
Omg Tammy! I love the idea of using what we already have. That’s exactly what I’ve been struggling with too. I have everything I could ever want and I still find myself searching for more. I’ve only shared probably 30% of my fun accessories. I want to want less. That’s my goal this year. And yes, that will most likely including some culling. Jaylah is my last pending doll too 🤣 We got this 😰💪 Thanks for all the fun content; you’re inspiring me to possibly start my own channel.
🫧😳🙃🐠🦀💙🫧
I just subscribed :) You have great IG content and wonderful collection, so I think RUclips would be fun for you.
@ thank you ☺️
