this vocal coach is very knowledgeable about this, i didn’t even thought about the singers channeling the characters and act as if they were in their shoes; cool reaction 😁
Thank you so much! It means a lot!
Its common theater knowledge
Pepa trying to keep her cool so she doesn’t make weather happen, and her husband being gentle and supportive.
Dolores with her super hearing talks quietly to not have feedback, and speaks in the present tense since, _as seen in her green echolocation spotlight,_ Bruno is active within the second floor behind them.
Camilo as a shapeshifter was the most expressive with his tone, reminding me of Doctor Faciliere from Princess and the Frog.
Isabella as miss perfect sings in staccato.
Encanto translate to charm.
Encantoda is charming
Mirabel is voice by Stephanie Beatriz. The lyrics are written by Lin-Manuel Miranda
unpopolar opinion . my favorite voice is Pepa's one ,especially when she delivers
" married in a hurricane"
Finally someone thinks the same way I do. I love Pepa's voice
@@six6286 still can't believe she 8s 50 years old 😱. She seems 10 year's at least younger than Julieta.
I'm always expectant to hear that part, it's just GREAT
Everyone has a favorite voice 😁 I’m talking about the technicality of the voices 🥰
I agree
I love watching people reacting to this song, and I really appreciate the commentary from the perspective of someone who's musically trained!
Thank you Julie! 🤍
Same thoughts here
The girl you wanted to hear sing alone does the first two songs of the movie mostly on her own.
The first song "The Family Madrigal" is the introductory song, and the second song "Waiting on a Miracle" is her personal song.
The panning voices you mentioned (the voices moving depending on the characters' locations) is so nice to hear when watching with the animations, as they do it throughout the movie. It's such a joy to listen to with headphones on, especially when characters are dancing on and off screen.
Lin Manuel Miranda wrote the music for this movie. He's an acclaimed musician, known for works like the musical plays "Hamilton" and "In the Heights." He also wrote the soundtrack for "Moana," another Disney movie. You mentioned the ability to tell a story in the song. Lin Manuel has proven to be a master at this skill, as Hamilton is an almost 3 hour opera of over 40 songs and less than 5 minutes of spoken dialogue.
I did a reaction video on The Family Madrigal and Waiting on a Miracle! 🤍
In the rap section (Delores' part) even though it's a rap-style song, towards the end you can hear the percussion from Delores' shoes, which is a flamenco thing.
A lot of "subtle" sound effects are amplified in Dolores' rap.
Fitting as she has enhanced hearing as her power.
@@DJWeapon8 I JUST noticed this while watching this reaction, even though I've seen the movie a million times. That is SO cool!
It's cumbia, not flamenco.
I love the effect of all of them singing their verses at the same time but you still understand the lyrics
💯!!
Lin Manuel Miranda did the music. He went to Colombia to study all types of the country's music. The technique of combining different characters assigned different musical styles, into the picture of the narrative in all his Broadway shows. See Hamilton and In the Heights. He is a musical genious and can write in any style.
He deserves more recognition!! Thank you for the info! I will definitely look him up

@@DouniaRaphael if you haven't already, you should react to any of the songs in the musical Hamilton. Lin Manuel Miranda wrote all of the songs for that musical as well, and first performed one of the songs in the White House during Obama's presidency. He is phenomenal.
Yes! I watched Encanto to experience Lin’s magic!
Finally! Someone who actually listens to the song first to take it in before breaking it down to analyze. I appreciate this kind of reaction because the first listen really gives a huge impact and having to pause it just to explain kinda removes the whole experience. And I totally understand about the singers having to 'act out' their songs. It's how these pieces become so impactful. Especially to the children. The casting of this movie was brilliant. I hope you get to listen to more of the songs from Encanto. They're all such great narratives.
Thank you for your feedback! It means a lot 🥰
"First I'm going to talk about..."
My brain automatically filled in "Bruno" before you said "the music" lol
😂😂😂😂😂
Same, so I sang "We Don't Talk About Bruno!"
The way this beautiful girl smiles and then dances after Felix sings "🎶 I'm sorry mi vida, go oooon 🎶 " just gives me life 😊
I never realized that Isabella was saying "I'm fine" over and over until someone pointed it out, now I cant unhear it and each time its unsettling
In my country, an "Encanto" is a magical spirit that can curse or bless people, depending on their actions. They say that an Encanto can grant you gifts but for a high price, so high that the gift might not be worth it. Some say that an Encanto can trick you into being cursed, disguising it as a gift.
Tales of Encantos are usually used by parents to get their children to behave and be respectful to nature and animals (as Encantos live in nature and wooded areas). Encantos and other mythological spirits/creatures are not popular anymore in my country though, so I'm only going off of what I remember my grandparents telling me when I was little. I don't know if it is the same in Colombia, but that's what I know "Encanto" to mean growing up, besides the literal English translations.
That’s very nice!!! Thank you for the information
Are you Filipino?
@@saxonkeel4445 yes 😆
ok, first "COLOMBIA" there's no U in there.
secondly, we definitely don't have any stories of "encantos"
@@JuanMunzerAsakura OK, I specified that I'm not sure if it's the same in Colombia anyway. Thanks for correcting me on the spelling too, my brain must've been not present when I wrote that
I melt everytime he sings "Sorry Mi Vida please go oooon"
Me tooooo, that onnnn is like Butterrr, so smooth so niceeeee
Perfect song for a flash mob performance.
Lin Manuel Miranda is Puerto Rican. He was born and lives in NYC of puertorican parents. He spent years studying Colombian music, which he called the cousins of Puerto Rican music. He had to find the differences so it would sound authentic to Colombia, and not just Latin or PR. Btw the song is inspired by Cha cha cha, not salsa. There is a scene in the movie where salsa can be heard, but it’s not in any of the character songs.
Pepa and Felix (the mixed married couple) are adorable!!! I LOVED this movie!! Lin Manuel Miranda did a WONDERFUL job!!! Ps.. the voice of the main character is the actress who plays Diaz is Brooklyn 99
Also I really love that u hear one time in silence for first pay attention at everything and just after u watch a second time, pausing and putting ur thoughts, it's a really genius move in my opinion
Thank you Felipe 🥰🥰🤍
i cant stop rewatching because of three things
"ISABELA YOUR BOYFRIEND'S HERE! HAHAHAHAHA"
*camilos whole part*
*the mashup*
😂😂😂
Interesting note about the singer for Camilo (the shapeshifter) singing with his throat-voice to get across the evil vibes while pretending at being Bruno.
Carolina Gaitán did the voice in English and Spanish. She's a latin singer and actress
The song writer is puerto rican and he also wrote all of hamilton
I like the voice actors in this movie. Encanto is a great animated Disney movie.
Hi! I just watched your reactions to Encanto's songs and I loved them. Felix and Pepa (the couple who starts the song) are Mauro Castillo and Carolina Gaitan, they are Colombian singers and also actors. They also do the Spanish version of this song. They are very talented.
The main character has been compared in another reaction to a different song to being someone who would be perfect for a musical stage production.
Regarding the animation... In the "Behind the Scenes" extras they showed Disney actually hired dancers, which would do the dancing, so the animators would have a proper template to animate from. Also you can see the voice actors/singers in the studio booth recording the songs and yeah: They had a lot of fun time with it.
Also Lin Manuel Miranda is just a genius of analyzing, adapting to and reusing music styles when composing his originals songs.
They also traveled to colombia so they would get the real influences and mindset.
Regarding the movie I totally can recommend EVERY song in it, but especially "Dos Oruguitas" and "Surface Pressure".
Also, watch the movie. It's just awesome hearing and seeing all of the songs in the context of the story.
Honestly u should watch Surface Pressure, that music have so much weight of feelings
Will do! Thank you 🤍
I also did a REACTION VIDEO of Surface Pressure if you'd like to watch! 🥰
Dos oruguitas and surface pressure are the most emotional songs of the soundtrack, you should definitely listen to them
I will!
I did a reaction video for Dos Oruguitas! 🥰
YO I LOVE THE PRIEST TOO, OH MY GOD THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IVE HEARD ANYONE EVEN RECOGNISE HIM
"Surface Pressure" is the best song in the movie, and the most meaningful.
I personally think "Dos Oruguitas" is the best, but "Surface Pressure" is such a bop!
I also did a REACTION VIDEO of Surface Pressure if you'd like to watch! 🥰

@@DouniaRaphael Nice! I'll check it out!
Seeing you smile while listening to the song made me so happy OMG
POV : Your scrolling on RUclips and watching all the producers/ musicians/voice coaches reacting to encanto music
but really its just a way to way to whatch the music again
This song its a bop and a half
The man at the beginning is Mauro castillo is and actor and salsa singer in Colombia, the girl is Carolina Gaitán, Also AN colombian actress AND singer
One of the best reactions I've seen of this song. Much better than those that just listen. She really knows what she's talking about
I for real thought you were going to say "First of all, I am going to talk about Bruno" hahahaha
You’re not the only one 😂😂😂
Having seen several shows on how the voice acting is captured for animated shows/movies, I can tell you that it's pretty much a certainty that all of the voices are recorded individually for both the speaking and singing roles. In an animated show, the first thing that is completed (besides the script) is always the voice acting, so the animators can match the animated characters' movements to the sounds the voice actors have made. You have to remember that, in an animated show/movie, ALL of the sounds have to be created from scratch - there is no such thing as "ambient noise". So even when all of the cast are singing a song at the same time, it was all recorded separately, one at a time - which of course, makes it a lot easier for the singers, as they aren't having to "tune out" all of the other singers doing their different parts. All they would be listening to is the orchestra/band tracks for the song that have also already been recorded. And like all voice actors, they may repeat the same line(s) several times, with slight changes in accents and inflections or emotional delivery, until they get exactly the sound that the director wants.
I love your reactions because you appreciate the song first so then you can re watch it pausing to comment. It's so frustrating to see other reactors pause ALL THE DAMN TIME without even appreciating the flow of the musing in the first place. Keep on the good work ❤️
Thank you Murilo! 🤍
The singing different tunes and verses blended together is very theatrical. This is a rather common device in theatre scores with each tune depicting its respective character’s narrative.
True when you want to sing musical you need to be an actor as much as you need to be a singer.
I watched a diffren vocal coach who was all about clear singing but thats not what a musical is about its about the charachter and their feeling so sometimes they must on purpose miss a not if they are angry or in tears just to deliver the feeling better.
Mauro Castillo(the husband) is a salsa single and also and trombonist, listen to que viene y se va
Great discussion on the video. Actually Disney often had actor/singers do the roles - Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty in the early years. Then later Ariel and Jasmine. Then even more recently Belle and Megara. Definitely covers though, such as Mulan and Pocahontas. Thanks for sharing 😊
I'd translate Encanto as Charm. Because encanto is a noun; the adjective enchanted would be encantado. Also, you use that word to refer to a spell, but also when something has encanto, it has charm.
I'm an English speaker so I'm probably bad person to vote into this I thought of it as enchantment? Would that be considered wrong?
@@ALunarLight Not exactly wrong, but enchantment for me feels close to "spell" or something involving magic. Encanto has both the meaning of enchantment, but also the meaning of something being adorable or lovely. For example, I would say that you are an encanto, meaning you are charming.
I feel like enchantment, while not a bad translation, has only one meaning, and encanto has a double meaning: that of the spell and that of something being lovely. That's why I would use "charm", because it has both meanings as well.
And of course, the whole movie is "en canto" (In singing / in song)
@@radicaledward84 🤯 Of course!!! Also, Madrigal, their last name, is a music term.
Lin Manuel is a Puerto Rican American in which his musical influences can be experienced with his writing. He is a musical genius
As a beginner animator, I would highly enjoyed to reanimate this song. I bet the animators had a lot of fun
That's Lin Manuel doing his thing!
16:49 Honestly if the vouce matches the animation it’s up to the animators since the voice is done first.
Though in this situation, it is up to the choreographers as the entire song (Along with “What else Can I do” I believe) were choreographed. Thats why it looks and sounds like theater, I mean cmon look at Isabela’s scene! That’s something out of Broadway
THANK YOU for listening to it all the way through the first time and then analyzing it later on! I feel like it's not the same when the song keeps getting interrupted every 10 seconds as other creators do. Amazing video and great analysis!
I’ve never seen this vocal coach before, I found you while searching for “we don’t talk about Bruno”. I look forward to being on this vocal journey with you from now on.
Thank youu!! 🤍🤍🤍
Love this analysis. We Don't Talk About Bruno deserves all the love it's getting. I think it's really telling that so many people who are listening to this song for the first time, even without seeing the film first, are sucked in and by the end say something like, "OMG, I have to watch the movie now!" The song is such a masterful blend of musical performance and story-telling. Not that I'm surprised, because Lin-Manuel Miranda is very good at pushing a story forward through song.
Weird so see somebody who doesn’t know Lin Manuel Miranda from Hamilton, as Hamilton and its composer, and the song Non-Stop (which has similar vibes as this song).
I love that you couldn’t help but dance along! That’s always my first instinct when hearing this kind of music (especially since I can’t sing at all, which is clearly not your case!)
If u want a song for girl singing alone "waiting on a miracle" it's her music solo
I made a reaction video on it! 🤍
For more of Lin Manuel Miranda's AMAZINGness, check out the songs from the musicals 'Hamilton' and 'In the Heights'
I watched the movie and loved everything about it.
15:56 made me die 💀🤣🤣
I love all of the voices all of the Actors/Singers are really good behind the animation it’s one of the best animated Disney movie
Actually i learned that Camilo voice actor (that little man who can transform himself on another person 15:20) wasn't a singer.
He did a very good job.
Wow! I didn’t know that either! He’s really good!!!
2:54 I love the personality that’s shown in this song haha
15:56 hehe me too
😂😂😂🤍🤍🤍
LOOOOOVE your take on this!! You broke it down perfectly...it was very well articulated...you put in perfectly...great job!!!
Thank you so much! 🥰
"he's using the throat singing, i love that in a guy, i think it's sexy"
me: **happy camilo simp noises**
but fr, camilo's (the shapeshifting guy) voice actor is incredibly talented, fun fact actually: this was his first time singing!
😍😍😍
Do spend some time with the work of Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights, Hamilton). He's brilliant.
Dolores's part is 🤌🏼
We Don't Talk About Bruno is the best song in the movie!
Your commentary was great, I've been watching a lot of these "vocal coach reacts to bruno" videos and I keep seeing them just smile and make faces throughout the song and say two things and that's it. I was a little nervous in the beginning but then you went in and talked and watched it again, you brought up a lot of aspects I hadn't thought of (and thank you for also thinking that priest was stealing the show with his one line!)
Thank you for your feedback!! It means a lot 🥰🥰🥰
I can’t when she just begins to stare into my soul ever few seconds
Voiceplay just did an a capella cover of this. Genius incarnate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is random but I appreciate that you did different sections like do a full reaction before actually doing a commentary analisys on the song, lots of reactions people constantly pause the reaction to talk which becomes annoying, so GREAT JOB HERE!! KEEP GOING!
Thank you! 🤍
There's a live presentation of the French dubbing cast of this song and it's amazing. You should check it up.
I came back to this video to hit the “Like” button, also an excuse to watch it again. I’ve seen the movie, reactions to the movie, reactions ro the songs and your reaction several times. This viewing sparked my imagination and picked up to focus on your “voices moving together with dance”. Inspiring me to restart the video and ‘watch’ it with my eyes closed. WOW! Can I just recommend everyone try it? Every characters voice was represented by a different color, fluorescent rope almost of varying lengths, widths, colors/bold, soft, leading, following, flowing in a dance together and solo at times to then merge at the end in their distinctive style, yet harmonious. It’s so glorious, I wish I had better words to describe it. 😠 Argh! Such fun! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much!! 🤍🤍🤍🥰🥰🥰🥰
I have watched by now all your Encanto songs (and film) reactions. I've also seen tons of other reactions by both vocal coaches, various music representatives as well as anyone else. I very much like the way you're doing the reaction with comment only after you have seen the entire song/clip instead of jumping to the commentaries on the first run.
With your comment you inspired me to focus on just one musical line in the madrigal part of the song and it allowed me to discover something I didn't hear earlier despite having seen WDTAB countless times. Isabel in her part sings what sound very positive. I could not understand her line after second Dolores part though (where she sings: "I want not a sound out of you"). Until now, I thought it's just her being mean to Mirabel. However, in the blend of voices, after singing her main line Isabel is singing several times "and I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine" and you can clearly hear pain in what she's singing. It is so much resembling how Mirabel was singing "I'm still fine" in "Waiting for a miracle" giving away that she is not fine and she is actually in pain, feeling exactly opposite to what Bruno foretold her and keeping appearances to meet abuela's expectations It even sounds as if she was trying to convince herself that she is fine because Brundo told her she will be in his prophecy.
Moreover there is another similar situation in this song, where Dolores is singing "I can hear him now!" ("him meaning Bruno"), again several times, foreshadowing that she actually can still hear Bruno in the walls. Yet, many people capture Dolores' line in the comments but I don't recall anyone noticing similar foreshadowing for Isabel. Later (just before and in "What else can I do") we will see that Isabel isn't fine, that all she does is pretending to please abuela and the family.
Thank you very much for this reaction as it allowed me to find another layer of Encanto I wasn't aware of (and boy, I love the movie from the first time I've seen it, it has just taken my no 1 position for all movies seen ever and defends so far very well).

10:39 for your question there, Lin-Manuel Miranda is Puerto Rican!
THANK YOU for not pausing the video every 5 seconds💀
Greeting from Colombia 💚
I feel a little bit sad the voice coach does not now the background of Lin Manuel Miranda, that would help her to fully understand how the song was constructed and give another perspective about this song
18:39 hey, maybe you should watch the broadway version of In the Heights!! The song 96000 has the same overlapping of voices thing but LIVE. ITS NOT RECORDED. It always baffled me bc if even _one person_ misses a beat, it deraileds the entire song. Its truly amazing to watch!
I love your reaction.
Just a little note. It's not Spanish music, it's Colombian music. Spanish music is from the country of Spain.
You wouldn't call music from Australia "English music" just because it's spoken/sung in English, specially if it that music is full of indigenous styles and rhythms as is the music in Encanto.
Exactly what I meant! I meant Spanish language 🙈 Thank you for correcting me! 🤍🤍🤍
It's hard not to dance to this lol
