Thanks for posting this video. The 80s, those were the days. NBC made a massive comeback as a network, after being a laughingstock in the 70s. Their sports coverage was also topnotch during these years. I miss that station jingle they would play either going to commercials or coming back from them. Thanks for the nostalgia trip.
@@paulevereklian Had Pat Ryan been able to finish that Divisional Round matchup vs Cleveland, I think they would have. After Ryan's injury, when O'Brien was forced into the game, I think even the Jets knew they were screwed...
@@nurserock77 The funny thing is there was talk of NY-NY Super Bowl when The Giants were 9-2 & The Jets were 10-1. The injury to Marty Lyons & Joe Klecko really hurt the team. That loss to Cleveland was so preventable
Cheifs score 3 TDs on special teams, win by 5. Marino and Shula lose last game at the Orange Bowl to the Pasties. If not for flukes, there could have been a Giants-Bengals SB, and maybe a watchable second half of that game. Instead, the Giants got to route the Denver Mules in the 2nd half of that game.
Obviously this game ended up being a blowout but the Jets took two timeouts after first downs deep inside Cincinnati territory with under two minutes remaining before halftime, the second one at 1:01:10 . Cincinnati was left with plenty of time and its timeouts to come down for a field goal before the half, although Cincinnati let the clock roll after stuffing the Jets' running play.

I smile every time at this Introduction on NBC.
If you look up the term “backing into the playoffs” you’ll find a picture of the 1986 Jets
whats crazy is they almost made it to the afc title game too

@@cbod14 yeah the injuries really did them in. Even in this game they were in it for a half with a healthier team maybe at least its closer.
Let's not forget Gastineau's stupid late hit on Kosar.
Thanks for the video Jamie Johnson! The Jets back then had an elite defensive front led by Mark Gastineau, Marty Lyons, and Joe Klecko.
Love ya Marv
Ken Anderson took the last snap of his career in the first half of this game.
Excellent thanks!
awesome upload thank you.
the 1986 Jets were much like the Eagles of this past season
Not good company for the Eagles to be in.
WHO DEY
Thanks great stuff in the 80s Boomer could really light up the scoreboard when he was on
