Nice fish guys! I've been fishin' for 47-48 years and I'm impressed with your catch. I saw marlin and sailfish when I lived in Costa Rica but none hit my lures. I caught a pile of little Pacific yellowfins and dorado/mahi mahi trolling there, and lots of other fish but no billfish. Goals... May I suggest rigging a small tuna or bonita on a bridle rig when y'all are out there again? If you keep trying you might find that marlin are more common than you thought. And I'm sure you'll catch sharks or something else if you try. Maybe amberjack or wahoo or a giant cubera snapper would eat a big bait there if you're in the right spot. Anyway that's a badass fish you caught. Thanks for letting it go.
@Knot_Guilty dude I deal with people vandalizing my truck at the boat ramp, and just blatant disrespect when offshore. The amount of losers that will cut me off and run me down when I'm fishing pots is ridiculous. The Pic in my profile was a 53lb wahoo I got in a 16ft starcraft 32 miles off AC. People don't get that literally every other country uses under 20ft boats and run 50 plus miles offshore. People here are terrified and spoiled and really don't know how to properly operate a boat and how to read weather reports and know when not to go.
@ same in the northern gulf. People are terrified to go offshore unless they are in something over 27feet and 2 engines. South Florida, where I grew up, people will run anywhere in any size boat. I’ve take my 20 foot boat from Stuart to Grand Bahama island and that’s 78 miles. No one thought anything about it there. I go 40 miles offshore in the panhandle and people will yell and cuss me out for going out that far. Most people in the panhandle won’t leave the inlet unless they are in something around 24 feet. I’ve sailed a lot of the Caribbean, they run all over in small boats like you were saying. Those boats are usually made out of plywood too.
@Knot_Guilty I'm repowering a 19 Hydra Sport that I have every intention of going to the canyons (75 miles usually) on the right days. Unfortunately up here is a 50 mile ride to get to water over 30 fathoms and real chances at decent fish. If I could afford a bigger boat and the expense that comes with it I would, I just can't do I do what I can when I can. It's sad that people can't just be happy for someone
Good job! As a kid in the 70’s, my father and I would go out into the gulf off of treasure island w a 12’ Lowe and 110 9.8 hp. My father said we usually were out there 25-30 miles. People who stopped told us to while asking are we ok? Looking back we were Nuts!
Wow. Incredible that they got that blue on a little C hook rigged for tuna. Congrats, boys! I fish the hard water, so I am blown away. A lot bigger than the slabs we get on the ice!
Most amazing catch. I caught a small one who fought like that, epic, but their blue was massive and a flier. The big ones often dive which is not as fun
There are no words to see one of these dance on the surface in-person. Lucky guys. I sooooo badly want to fight a black marlin just once! This was a great video.
WOW!! That was freaking cool. My son goes out of Port Fourchon in a 22' Tidewater, to the P/F's out there. Just watch the weather & have your safety equipment. Great video guy's.
Off the coast of naples i hooked into a marlin. We were doing a slow troll while we ate some sanwiches. My line took off as soon as i took my first bite. The fight lasted all of two minutes. That marlin jumped completely out of the ocean, swung its head hard and spit the hook right out. As far as fishing goes that was the coolest thing i have ever experienced
People are doing the same thing in Panama and maybe Costa Rica in the Pacific. There's a RUclips channel with lots of videos of kayak fishin in Panama for billfish, huge snapper and roosterfish. They get big jacks too.
Great fish guys! I was fishing on a head boat with about 75 other people at a rig about 75 miles out. We had 4 to 6 foot seas, with an occasional 8 footer crashing into the boat. Imagine our surprise when we see two guys in a fiberglass Tri-hull like you'd see on an inland lake, pull up to the rig! They had a single motor about 55hp and two 55 gallon drums (I suppose the drums were gas). Even without the big seas, I wouldn't want to be that far out in a 16 foot freshwater boat! That's just crazy!
Meanwhile, my 6 year old son and I get asked for our fishing license 3 times in one afternoon by FWC using a cane pole fishing from the bank on the yellow river.
Great fishing story but the sinking accident story will be different, having the Epirb in a box instead of a float free bracket could cost lives accidents happen so fast they might never get to grab the box
We also just had 3 large canes that have our fish all over the place. Sorry not sorry this is not that big of a deal the fact it’s on National news blows my mind. With every thing else that’s going on Cool congrats
It's fine if you have the right equipment and know what you are doing. You watch the weather and enjoy the ride. Some might think shark diving is insane but seems like it's okay for you. Everyone has there own level of what is acceptable and what is not.
@@studiohost you never put your phone down do you? You prolly never had the freshest fish ever which is caught and cleaned and ate with out being cooked Truth is truth facts are facts

You guys are so fun to watch. At some point I want to get off shore with you. Keep the great content coming!
Great Job guys! Subscribed last month!
@ thank you
Now that is a real fishing memory! Good job guys.
I'm impressed. I've fished for about 48 years and never caught a billfish. That was light tackle for a marlin. Very well done!
This great. I run a 17ft boat out of AC NJ and I regularly go 60 miles offshore and people think I'm insane. I love this
me too, outta Rhode Island...my 1965 Whaler. Ran her to Key West in 2018 too!
I quit telling people how far I take my 20ft CC because I’m sick of hearing that same thing.

Going that far with a single engine takes some big ones
I'd ride with those guys.
EHH it’s just about brand new I would do it also!

What a magnificent creature.

I like the end of "Two Young Men and the Sea" better than Hemmingway's story. Congrats, gentlemen! That footage is ridiculous.

Foul hooking a fish is like saying you got a hole in one but took 2 shots. They didn't catch. They snagged it.
Recreational ocean fishery is getting way out of hand they need to start protecting the species. Technology has made it unfair.
