    You never wanna wrap the line around your arm. We had a boy in 93 die fishing in a blue marlin tournament cause he wrapped it around his arm and it run off and took him with it.

    • @Potent910
      @Potent910 5 лет назад +6

      Theres a certain way you're supposed to do it so when the fish pulls it does take hold of your arm. Cause yeah..if the fish dives and you're stuck, you're dead.

    We hade an experience like this back in the early eighties. off the Jersey Shore we hooked into a fish like this I was up on the tuna Tower and watching the entire experience when the Marlin headed straight for the boat and came up out of the water like a scene out of Jaws I just stared at him his eye was the size of an orange. we did not land him and after it was over everybody said to me did you get a picture that because I was really into photography and had a camera around my neck. I was so engrossed in the moment I did not even think of taking a picture. it is an experience in my life that I will never forget.

    Very impressed this Marlin was landed using a Black Magic harness BUT those big fish so often die because of the long fight. They may seem fine when released but as soon as they slip out of sight the sharks will eat them because the lactic acid build up to too great and they can't swim off strongly.

    • @michaelinnes8366
      @michaelinnes8366 Год назад

      The biggest problem I have had is shark attacking the Marlin during the fight.I had a grander on in Mauritius in 1990 when it was hit by a shark. We never managed to bring the fish up and had to cut the line..

    My soul has always been close to the ocean...Always a Mermaid ...Anchors Aweigh...Blue Marlins are magnefiscent fish...the anglers that fish for them battle for their catch...Some of these fish are hundreds or thousand pounds unbelievable...now this type of fishing really is a sport...Definitely on my bucket list; takes 100% focus and commitment.

    Also was it pulling the boat? I'm not a fisher but this shit fascinates me.

    • @Jesse-yh6wz
      @Jesse-yh6wz 8 лет назад +3

      +Haymaker Productions The purpose of "fighting" a fish is to exhaust and that's the only way to pull in a fish a size like that. Rods have a system called drag where you can crank a set weight on the line to tire the fish just like if you were running with a weighted sled. If the drag is too tight the line will break. The boater was backing up so that the fisher doesn't tire out reeling in so much the fish is pulling out.

      Nicola Turotti they wrap in a way so if the fish takes one run he can just let go and the line goes loose, my dad learned that the hard way though, in like 2002 they were hooked up to a 412 pounder and he was wiring and he pulled the fish up to the boat to grab his bill, and the fish took one last run and tore off his glove and a big chunk of his hand lol
