I love Laura’s immediate laughing fit when Matt says “you can feel the tug of it” and Travis’ equally fast “Laura, come on” Big “Wife. Mother of my son.” vibes
Yooo, my old Biology teacher showed us a picture of a tumor with teeth and I near threw up in the middle of class. Teeth where they shouldn’t be is fucking terrifying.
Matt: Though, you would also note, there is no water in the fountain. Caduceus: There is no water in the fountain. Fjord: *dramatically* My God... Veth: It’s the best fountain I’ve ever seen!! ^ killed me 😆
the twins collapsing at "the tug of it" KILLS me lol it's been 4 years since c1 ended and i still refer to laura and liam ooc as the twins i cant help it
Me, laying down in my bed at 12 am watching the livestream and all the sudden matt gives that horrific scream. I think I had PTSD for the entire episode.
The city seems to be a mixture of 'John Carpenter's The Thing' and 'the flesh that hates'. Wonder if being in the Astral sea keeps it from being able to spread or infect.
The eye theme also reminds me of bloodborne a lot, where the otherworldly insight is what drives you mad and the most horrific creatures tend to have eye holes or eyeballs all over them
@@nigeldepledge3790 I mean there's the internet, but maybe 8-7 years ago there was a whole thing about adding goatscreams to songs like Taylor Swifts " I knew you were trouble".
This city is super awesome to me because I am now realizing that body horror is just as fascinating to me as freaky. Matt is doing a great job with it.
@Gracie Waffles I think he means the last part of the Aeor arc. The Mighty Nein story could end here too, but this feels more Chroma Conclave than Vecna.
@Gracie Waffles It's ultimately up to the players and DM to talk and decide, but given Matt's been setting up stuff for them to do after this Arc like crazy (the Cerberus Assembly, the Augen Trust and the Cobalt Soul, Zeenoth's trial, Sabien and Vandran and Uk'otoa, a return trip to Aeor and time travel) I find it unlikely he's planning on this being the final arc of the Campaign at this time.
I loved watching this last Thursday, I am SO GODDAMN HYPED for this nightmare city. I'm just fucking sad that there's no way they'll ever see all its secrets. I desperately need the Campaign 2 Q&A to have a full 2 hours of questions about stuff they didn't see in Aeor and the Cognouza Ward. But I love nightmarish body horror stuff like this and I love how clearly fucking pumped Matt is that they're finally here.
This episode was amazing. Loved the The Thing/Tyranid Hive Fleet/cosmic horror from this, I was making notes throughout for when I can start GMing again in person
I'm only on episode 27 of Campaign one so I don't know if there's any scary episodes there but DAMN! I was taking to off guard by how CREEPY this one was!!! I loved it!
Nothing was as creepy as that. I am only at 50 but I am pretty sure. Maybe the first time the eyes talked to Beau and Caleb but that shit here seems to be next level
There's some good creepy moments in the next few episodes of Campaign 1--there's one particularly chilling moment that I can't wait to see in the animated series. I can't remember anything that gets quite on this level, though.
I love Laura’s immediate laughing fit when Matt says “you can feel the tug of it” and Travis’ equally fast “Laura, come on”

I love them so much
The Laughing Hand made me realize I have a phobia of teeth where they shouldn't be, and now we get A WHOLE CITY OF IT. *LUCKY ME.*
Noooooo

@@santino7470 Whatever you do don't google Teratoma or parasitic twins
My younger brother had his adult front teeth growing behind his baby teeth so he had two rows of teeth for a while
@@santino7470 I'd be about three seconds from passing the fuck out if I saw that. 🤢
I was not expecting him to actually scream. I've never slept with so many lights on afterwards.
matt is too spooky ;-;
Nothing he does will ever beat the screech he did for the giant worm though, that was so creepy.
@@spectralumbra1568 omgg that was so frickin good
The sad creature in the wastes was the most horrifying sound I had ever heard made by another human being. I think it still is honestly.

You can definitely tell how happy Matt is with the reactions he's eliciting.
During the live there was a stream of "Tug-beaut" comments after marisha saying tug boat, gotta love it
That’s true. Saw it myself haha almost snorted my fruit salad
matt mercer said i'm going to flex my va skills but i'm also going to make everyone deeply uncomfortable while doing it
Feels like Matt's past experience with Resident Evil has influenced his monster transformations and I LOVE it.

Yeah I was falling asleep while watching the stream and the scream happened and I was wide awake after that
A down side to being an east coast critter is just not being able to sleep after Matt does creepy shit at 1 am
@@Katie_OvO agreed lol
I love this arc. The body horror, the cosmic alien threat, and M9 completely and utterly out of their elements.
Yasha: Caleb will you polymorph Beau into an octopus?
Caleb: ....... Why?
Yasha: No reason.
That's at least 3rd date material.
Ashley in Orphanmaker shirt is sooo cool

Yea the flesh that hates is scary when considering if the victims are still conscious with what is happening to them
The eye theme also reminds me of bloodborne a lot, where the otherworldly insight is what drives you mad and the most horrific creatures tend to have eye holes or eyeballs all over them
Maybe a bit of the 001 broken sun in there too
Is it just me or does Mathews scream sound just like a goat scream!?!
I've never heard a goat scream.
How is it that you know what that sounds like...?

As soon as Ashley made the tentacle comment, you saw her instantaneous regret as she forsaw the future Rule34 going through her head, lol.
I’ve found one on AO3 already lol
@@swagpotato720 is there a link?
And then she tries to take it back and Laura is just like "Nope! It's in the hands of the internet now! You're screwed this time!"

I will not be surprised if someone pukes during this final arc....(Matt said it himself...)
Yep. This final arc of the Eiselcross/Aeor/Cognouza....Arc. It's been a hell of a ride, but I can't wait to see what the Nein get up to next.

This is like if Matthew Mercer became the game director of Dead Space 4
This city is a David Cronenberg and/or John Carpenter nightmare.
Clive Barker

Isn't that an SCP? "The flesh that hates" or something?
Considering that the final Boss is basically of Taleisin's creation... This dungeon seems oddly fitting.
That scream bit was just Body Snatchers
The moment when matt makes a city made of the thing......john carpenter would be proud
I love Travis! He’s so good at finding moments to add some levity!
I'm imagining some wonderful fan art from this episode...
Man, he's talking about trees and stuff being made of flesh and all I can think about is Fel Seed.
Edit: Oh cool, it gets worse.
I love how scary this part was, I love playing/watching/or DMing scary campaigns!!!
still sad they missed the chance to say "TOWagard"
There WAS tug-beaut, though
Yeah, I probably made a mistake when I decided to play resident evil 8 immediately after this episode.
