I love how she always has to explain that she's kidding when she's talking about killing someone.
Most of the time it's because she is serious. She proceed to say it was a joke after sensing it was maybe not appropriate.

She's got practice from season 1, since she had to be in and out so often due to work; You have to get your jokes out quick. Internet connection can easily ruin a joke and she did it well :3

I am fairly new to “Critical Role” and have noticed that there’s a bit of a running gag about crayons, would you mind explaining the joke for me? Out of context it’s hilarious, but I have a feeling it’s better knowing the story.

Though I’ve also heard that someone said she (Ashley) looked like a teacher earlier in that episode when wearing a sweater.

@@brotherjorge3 They are all the time releasing new merch, including printed shirts; having worked with a shirt design company before, I know newly printed shirts tend to smell like melted wax, so it's perhaps a reference to them inspecting new merch and enjoying the "fresh from the print" smell that accompanies them.
i love how yasha’s sense of humor is different from ashley’s and she still manages to pull it off so well

@@antares1038 There was no joke there, just the deadpan delivery of a line no one at the table expected coupled with the wild imaginations of the players jumping to wacky conclusions.
@@antares1038 I heard somewhere that it was because the cast joked off-screen about how crayola crayons used beef fat as a main ingredient. She's basically saying she smells beefy in possibly the most ridiculous, roundabout way possible.

there's actually a lot of them considering on how many episodes Ash-o-lee was out chasing criminals and decrypting tatoos. She's quite a joker.
She has so many funny ass lines in blindspot for sure. And all the critical role references, I lived for them

Although they are a bit of meta-jokes, they still count, no? :p

'Throw you under a bridge' wasn't really Yasha's joke though, it was more of Nott confusing her and Yasha trying to fit in. (ICly of course. The whole exchange was hilarious so it's easy to feel that it needs ot be included)

I love these moments, another fave wasn’t line but an action. Matt describes like a long dead bug under a bed or table that Yasha finds and no hesitation “I eat it” I fully lost it

Sometimes i feel its just ashley being herself and honest. Like Yasha wasn't even joking but it comes off that way and she doesn't recognise it as such but goes along with it cause it made her friends happy.

i love that it took yasha a while to feel comfortable enough to start joking and at first she had to clarify when she was joking but after a while they've begun to learn her humor, it's so sweet

God damn, nearly a year and I still buckle at "I smell like a crayon.". Liam absolutely abandoning ship with that faceplant is the icing on the cake.
Ashley mentioned at some point that she tried to give Yasha a bit of a Scandinavian accent, which gives this an extra dimension to me as a Norwegian because our way of doing sarcasm is completely deadpan delivery with no change in tone. When I lived in England I would constantly have to explain to people that I was joking, and I was like "uh I thought you guys considered yourselves the home of dry sarcasm???"

One of my favorite moments in all the campaigns is when Yasha says she smell like a crayon and the immediate reaction everyone has. How each of them create the same, but the manner in how they react is a reflection of who they are. These are all best friends and it's adorable.
To the people talking about the lack of ‘just killed my family...’, [fishmarket] is my favoured terrain’ and ‘you can certainly try,’ my best guess as to why those aren’t in here is because the video is specifically Yasha’s jokes, not Ashley’s. (First one as it was unintentional by Yasha, and the other two because they were meta-game jokes)

I love the fact that no one was expecting her to say that and you can see it on all of their faces. So good.
Yasha is what happens when Dylan Moran isn't as alcoholic and depressed.
If I were in Matt's shoes, I would have at least awarded a Charisma ability score or two to Yasha. Her character progression has shown a dedication to learning how to speak better. It wouldn't drastically change any rolls, and it would add an extra layer of character development.

I think perhaps it's because I'm old and out of touch with pop culture, but what the heck was funny about "I smell like a crayon."? Everyone else seems to find it hilarious, but without a reference it just sounds like a misnomer to me.
Also, Yasha's dry humor reminds me most of some of Clint Eastwood's characters, like Josey Wales or Harry Callahan. It's part observational, part dry cynicism.
I think it’s an inside joke with the cast. The audience, at least to my knowledge, finds it hysterical just because of the absurdity and timing of it. I may be wrong, but that’s just my two cents.
it's not an inside joke. it's just the pure randomness. like travis says while laughing, of all the smells she chooses a crayon, it's hilarious (because humans obviously don't smell like them). everyone probably expected her to say something like flowers etc.
