I also think that it was good for Travis’ first delve into TTRPG for it to be Laura. Made it more natural with his words and just make them to be one of my OTPs of real married life. (After my parents and grandparents of course)

I love how Laura's big smile when Travis gets Fjord to make the first move with Jester just screams "Ladies and gentlemen, we got him."
They literally screamed that after it happened.
Oh yeah, she's been after him since the start of Campaign 2, and that big ol' grin of hers is a silent celebration at cracking that nut *wide* open.
I will sincerely miss watching the Fjord/Jester romance. Watching a married couple with a kid devolve into an awkward high school crush was a level of wholesome I never thought I needed.
He gets really awkward talking about romance or when RPing romance. His tick is that he rotates in his chair, which is what he did when the two of them were asked about how they met (IRL).
It's kind of funny and cute seeing a big strong man like that reduced to that sort of awkwardness. But, I can understand, it can be awkward for some silly reason.

Love is all of these things and more. Full of tears and snot and anger and smiles and awkward glances and dumb poems and chicken dinner. And yet we love all of them for it. Especially Yasha and Beau.
Caleb and Essek: Showboating
Jester and Fjord: also quite sweet...adorable as well.
Percy and Vex were my favorite, because Laura and Taliesin were clearly having a ball quipping back and forth with sexy accents and seeing how far they could push things before the characters finally got together.

Marisha turning a book goblin when she's excited, stressed, or otherwise emotional will always be one of my favourite quirks among the cast
That and the "Okay, okay, okay."
Book goblin is a phrase I’ve been looking for my entire life
And she turned again in c3 ep 25
That's an ADHD management technique. Shes using the book as both a fidget and a means to take note and track things she needs to remember because it's hard for the ADHD brain to do it without that kind of aid. You can see that when she starts avidly taking notes (about the start of c2 and towards the end of c1) is also when she started talking about getting help for her issues and as they were rolling out their own company.
Beau and Yasha are the dictionary definitions of "disaster lesbians" and it's hilarious and also really adorable to watch

In the first two campaigns Marisha's characters were into the goth character and now in the 3rd she is the goth character.
Goth characters with functional wings who got at least one foot horrifically burned in lava.

@@ferrous719 Vax and Keyleth happened very early on in C1 so I don't think fan service had anything to do with it, especially when they didn't really know what was ahead of them. Liam took the players and the audience by surprise on that one.
@@ferrous719 That doesn't make any sense for me the more I think about it to be honest, none of the viewers were asking or expecting for any romances at the time. Liam initiated Vax' romance with Keyleth on his own because that's where he felt his character was going to developmentwise and he already considered that Vax was slowly falling in love with Keyleth pre-Stream.

@@maggieh3587 lmao. So my character is a lightfoot halfing. The party had been on a mission the day before to clear out some mines and Tessa (my char) had obtained a dead bat after an encounter. Wanting the bat stuffed, she went out into town to get some help. She called over a firbolg and they had to communicate through charades because he couldn’t speak common. Anyways apparently sharing a bat heart is the start of a firbolg marriage ritual and next thing I know Tessa is married to a 7ft 9 firbolg

These moments hit different with the characters' faces right next to one another.
It's kinda adorable that the two who are actually married in real life have the most "first high school crush" type of romance story.
I saw a comment at one point that Vax and Keyleth are like highschool freshmen: awkward, emotional, talking through it, neither is really sure how to be in a relationship. Alternatively, Vex and Percy are like highschool seniors: confident, drinking a lot, flirty, and not really caring about the feelings of anyone except each other (the Full Scrooge McDuck).
This is such a good explanation of the dynamics! And honestly one of my main reasons for this video, was that I wanted to read these sorts of takes on the different couples! So thank you!
Meanwhile: Yasha and Beau are middle schoolera.
Vex and Percy was such so a slow build up it over the first few arcs that when it finally happened I was like "oh finally,............ YES FINALLY!!!"
Vax and keyleth are that young/first love, high-school sweetheart kind of lover, and vex and percy are the power couple who met a bit later in life, but remains young at heart

God, I don't care how many times I see it but Marisha's REACTION when Vax kisses Keyleth, and Travis *ANY* time we see Perc'Ahlia. It's just ALWAYS delightful. Man, I remember watching the Fjorester kiss happen live and just *screaming* into my friend's shoulder. Just how *intimate* and borderline *EROTIC* Travis made the act of asking for consent was *insane*.
Travis: "I will never roleplay romance."
Laura: "You'd have to reject your wife, then."
Travis: "....well, I don't want to sleep on the couch over a game, so.... I KISS HER!"
Relationship assessments:
Keyleth and Vax: Young, Angsty, tragic, emotional, teenage love. Incredibly awkward love driven by people who are not good with relationships.
Percy and Vex: Romance, furious banging in private, passionate, full of depth. A power couple who are meant to be and are very very passionate.
Fjord and Jester: Adorable, paradoxically wholesome and also weird at the same time, romantic. Overall a very stable relationship.
Yasha and Beau: Even more awkward, dysfunctional, but also romantic and battle lovers. They are lovers and fighters.
IMO, I think Percy and Vex and Fjord and Jester are still the best of the couples. Percy and Vex is my #1 for its emotional weight and its buildup.
Just the way Travis looks at Laura.

Having said that, it’s hard to overstate how tricky this sort of thing is to make happen in a campaign. You need two very committed roleplayers, and the right style of campaign.

Honestly think the players adorable real life chemistry is like 90% of that pairings appeal.The actual characters of Fjord and Jester however really just felt kinda eh together.
I really cannot overstate how much I love Jester's chiseled cheekbones line. Laura knows Travis is taking a leap he wasn't previously comfortable with, and she gives him that small comedic moment to breathe and let some of the tension out. Beautifully done.
