Thanks for the specifics that most videos do not include, although all is appreciated. This just helps most of us understand a bit better! Those looks very nice as well

Love the screw box idea as well. I’ll definitely be creating a version of one of those 👍

Hello! Can you quickly explain what furring is, please? Is it to avoid bees getting stuck in the holes? I heard that can happen, so I am trying to find out more and how to avoid it when drilling the holes. Thank you for your help!

Hi, you’re welcome…..really it just when you drill too fast or the drill bits aren’t sharp enough then the holes aren’t very neat which the bees seem not to prefer. I like to put a 50/50 mix of PVA/Water on it anyway afterwards which seals it all. Never seen any bees get stuck before.

@@Calastein Bees can get stuck in the holes, but only if you do not drill from the side of the tree. If you drill into a tree slice/disk you tear apart the wood fibers in the hole. Some of them get pointy and let the bee in but not out. This is why you always drill from the side of a trunk. Of course you can sandpaper the holes to prevent this. But its not really a common problem. In most cases the bees know which holes are good for them.
