Mimir actor is AMAZING, he's so fun to hear and Mimir is a funny cocky guy. And It's incredible how they establish Odin as a huge threat, especially by his mind, they emphasize a lot how super intelligent he is in the scenes i've saw, which is a surprise cause you would expect talks about raw power.
@@GustavoSilva-ny8jc Odin isn't a brute force powerhouse. His biggest assets are his intelligence, vileness, his manipulative and deceiving nature and most of all his Seidr magic.
When I heard the word faerie king I think he means Oberon king of the faeries as well as goodfellows which are fairies of mischief. Which means Mimir originated from Celtic mythology
Yeah there's a lot of hints that he's Celtic. The section where he's talking about the sgian dubh is a big one, sgian dubh is a Scottish thing. Then there's his accent and I'm also fairly sure he mentions the Celtic gods at the scene where you see that board in Tyr's temple
MIMIR (God of war): Thankfully the ages and roads travelled since then have turned me from that *merry wanderer* into the paragon of virtue you see before you today. PUCK/ROBIN GOODFELLOW(dialogue from Bill's play): Fairy, thou speak'st aright; I am that *merry wanderer* of the night. And on her wither'd dewlap pour the ale.
It's amazing how obvious they made his identity but I still didn't get it till Odin said his name. What amazing Lore overlap, they tied in pantheon and mythology we never anticipated.
Mimir said that Odin would later take HIS eye, which he could've used to replace the one he gouged out. That could've been before the incident with the rift. Which means Odin could've sacrificed his eye TWICE.
Atreus later asked mimir how Odin said his side of the story was different, which mimir responded with how Odin is a liar, and liars lie only to bend the reality of the truth to however they see fit. Mimirs account was correct, Odin was BS'ing Atreus.
In the first three the Greek pantheon weren’t so mortal or human. They were something more than human. I love the new designs but it just feels less like God of War and more like a cool TV show.
The norse gods were always less serious and more human than the Greek ones. The Greek gods are silly but are taken seriously, the Norse are serious gods who are taken in a silly manner. The Norse gods have serious responsibilities and consequences, and face them, but joke around and act in more human ways while doing so. The Greek gods mostly, quite literally, fuck about and act in all manner of petty ways towards mortals, despite being so revered and powerful, but do or face very little of real consequence.
@@cerdic6867 i think it has a lot to do with the greek pantheon in these games being far more powerful, maybe not in pure raw strength but, more in the magic and manipulation of nature. it doesn't matter how the greeks or norse gods act, what matters more is the power they hold, odin was fundamentally far weaker then zues, zues was literally able to die multiple times and manifested his soul, odin got fucked by a kid who didn't really know how to even use his power effectively. i like the new game but if I'm being completely honest, the pantheon was lowkey kind of ass. even the thor vs world serpent fight ended up being far less than we could've imagined, its not that they're equal its that thor was so much more powerful that he was able to send him back in time and fracture the world tree, which we already know is a childs play compared to what kratos had to deal with in the greek pantheon. and final thing to add to it, i was EXTREMELY disappointed with Ragnarok, it was probably the most boring thing ever, this dude freyr can just casually hold a sword thats supposed to be destroying realms? bro i feel like the writers cared so much about the father-son thing they forgot this is god of war.
My opinion on this game, is that its over rated by a lot of people in the sense that they say its better then it is, but thats more just because its brand new and fresh. i think this game is a middle ground game "which is what i thought the last game was" i want to see atreus get taken from kratos, i dont want to see him die but we need to see the old kratos, we've gone two full games without seeing his real rage now and its annoying tbh
@@tylerberman7527 This did happen in Ragnarok. Kratos stopped himself before he could become his old self. For the better. I don't want to see him undo this character development after the lesson of the first game is to be better than who you were.

you could make the argument that he just made a huge amount of progress towards the knowledge rift in like 3 days even though he'd been trying for hundreds of years, probably got especially annoyed that he was so close to the thing he'd be trying to achieve for that long and some random dwarf starts to unravel his lies and physically knocks the completed mask out of his hand, all he had to do from that point is use it and look into the rift figured that holding the deception didnt benefit him anymore, didnt count on kratos spearing the mask from his hand last minute

He is the same va of Armstrong from Metal Gear
Odin is more a nerd for knowledge in Norse mythology. He goes out on quests for knowledge all the time and does the wildest stuff for it.

He mentions being from an island as well..
Then there's a bonus promo of Ragnarok where he straight up admits he's "Puck".
Bit obvious with the Scottish accent along with the game being based of gods

This lines up in Ragnarok to how on occasion, the various gods refer to him as Puck.
Huh. Wow
The idea of the wiseguy Odin we see in Raygnarok taking some dank shrooms and trying to cut out his eyes is pretty funny

1:21 the way he says it so good lol
I mean, if you have been a councilor for gods, you'd want to show off. Especially for a God who killed a pantheon.

The death of baldur, whatever happened there.

When did Odin say his name? I know the Norns called him Puck but that’s about as much as I remember
