Not necessarily gave it to him. Odin sacrificed his eye to the well of knowledge. So mimir saw the trade of an eye for a cup of the well water as a fair trade.

SemperInvctus I think it would be fitting in perfectly since they will messing around with timeline. Plus if with this trend they will somehow revive Zeus since the timeline might change. 😦😦😦 but still a theory
Kratos being hesitant from the start is super great writing and forward thinking. Remember this is Kratos the God of War a man whose talked and battled with 10s of thousands of warriors, and would know when he sees the potential of Freya's lie and how even though she is helping them that it will happen again. This isn't him disliking her because of the attitude she gives him for threatening to reveal his identity to Atreus, although not to discredit that as he does seem mad at the time, this is Kratos having an intelligence the other gods couldn't of expected. Great writing, sorry for the rent
Every now and then you see a glimmer of that spark from Young Kratos. Kratos who killed the Gods because they made him mad, who killed people because they got in his way, who killed people even he said wasn’t a threat to him simply because they said something he didn’t like. It’s played for comedic effect but even Kratos saying “I’m going to cut off your head now” after Mimir called him out I thought “there’s the old Kratos”
for those who call out mimir lack of knowlege when kratos ask :"Why does the son of odin hunt us?" Mimir is translated :"to remember" which mean that he only has knowlege of the past rather than recent event, so yeah.... the game director know what he is doing
Mimir: "It is said that the serpent and Thor's battle was so violent it splinters the tree of life and spirals the serpent back in time even before his own birth." Kratos: "That is madness." Really Kratos...Really?

The more you think about it, Kratos probably took Mimir with him because he reminds him a lot of Orkos. Both men were subject to torture and torment. Both are smart as well and dont want the enemy to win even more than what they already have. They both want to help Kratos as well
10:57, always thought this was weird but I’m beginning to think that Freya just blocked his memory when it came on how to take away Baldurs abilities when resurrecting him. Even Mimir didn’t realize he had repeated the exact same thing in a row, feels like a brain glitch.
I like how he speeks very flowery when he first meets kratos. He's trying to sell the idea to take him. But then he opens up amd connects with him so much he tells kratos of his mistakes.

At 12:52, Mimir mentions that Thor and Jormungander have an unpleasant history between them, or they will rather. What does 'or they will rather' imply? Was there maybe some time travel for the serpent that sent him back in time following his battle with Thor during Ragnarok which resulted in him continuously in a loop? If so, how far back in time did he end up? Being one of Loki's children in Norse mythology, would it be likely that Loki sent him back to protect him or for some bigger reason to ensure his victory come Ragnarok? Anyone else notice this?

@@WhiteBoyTariq True, but he never once trusts gods anymore, and given Tyr is the only good god he's heard about so far... Why should he also trust Freya? Especially since, despite how much harm it causes her, she blindly defends the ever-invulnerable dickweed who just showed up to Kratos' house and threw hands, simply because it's the only good part of her marriage to Odin.
The voice actor for Mimir is phenomenal. The best in any video game.
He’s the same guy who said NANOMACHINES SON!
Ironically in mythology Mimir is the one who gave Odin the gift of Knowledge
Not necessarily gave it to him. Odin sacrificed his eye to the well of knowledge. So mimir saw the trade of an eye for a cup of the well water as a fair trade.
Yeah, not “give”. More like “sold”. For an eye.

Absolutely no one talks about the scene when Mimir is talking about Tyr going down the elevator with Atreus and Kratos? Kratos basically seeing what he could’ve done in his life instead of what he did. While hearing his son praise Tyr. Gosh that’s gotta be a super powerful moment for Kratos mentally
Brought me back to those days of carnage and destruction from the previous parts. Sure sounds embarrassing, maybe he too felf that way.

This isn't him disliking her because of the attitude she gives him for threatening to reveal his identity to Atreus,
although not to discredit that as he does seem mad at the time, this is Kratos having an intelligence the other gods couldn't of expected.

Really? It was the corruption of the Gods that caused the downfall in Greece. Study history and next time you will not appear ignorant. During the reign of the Titans there was peace, all was well in the world. When Zeus had his Coup d'etat and the Titans imprisoned and defeated, the world felt their chaos.

No, pretty sure what ended the Gods of Greece in the GoW series was Kratos killing them all...
I missed Atreus' innocence of GoW4 in RAGNAROK. It's endearing
The more you think about it, Kratos probably took Mimir with him because he reminds him a lot of Orkos. Both men were subject to torture and torment. Both are smart as well and dont want the enemy to win even more than what they already have. They both want to help Kratos as well
