    These are lovely! I would call these "handmade" rather than "homemade." I make handmade cards and prefer tape runner to glue - easier and way less messy with no drying time. Thanks for sharing this with us!

      Thanks so much! Good point on calling them "handmade", I think that is a more accurate word. I picked up some tape to try out with "handmade" cards but haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Thanks for the suggestions!

    A good way to get past “fear of the blank page.” The layers make for a richer surface than just one layer painted directly. I enjoy making master boards that will be cut up into little gems. New subscriber.

    I love the way the cards turned out. Thanks for the tip about providing a transparent sleeve. As for adhering the print, it is much easier to use a tape runner or any double sided adhesive tape.

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  Год назад +2

      Thanks, Minna! Absolutely correct on the tape. I've used that as well. Some of my pieces are a little warped because I'm painting on paper and using the gel medium and then pressing usually fixes that.

    I love these! Making cards is vital for me to not feel overwhelmed by the amount of “stuff” I’m generating. It has to have somewhere to go. I’ve just begun some abstracts which eventually be Christmas cards this year, which means using red and green that i never usually go near 😅

    Funny you did this video... I think it was in one of your previous videos that i cottoned onto the concept of using a little cut out square to help me see areas of interest in my little warm ups... and what you know. I ended up turning them into mini abstracts (some of which you have seen. ) Good way to keep the happy parts of the warm-ups. Thank you for the inspiration and creativity.

      Thanks, George! When I have some available I usually do $10-$12. What I see is usually $10-$25+ for homemade artist cards. If you have time, I would do a little research to see what artists are selling them for now on Etsy.

    I can never guess how it´s going to turn out but you always end up with nice pieces, nice compositions. Do these practices become ideas for bigger paintings?, The cards are beautiful and people can frame them too. Nice idea.

      Thanks, Priscilla! Most of the time I don't know how they're going to turn out either. Funny you should mention turning warm-ups into larger paintings. I just gessoed a canvas to do just that. I plan on making a video of that process. I've had several warm-ups that have inspired larger pieces.

    I enjoyed this so much. The thought never occurred to me to use abstract warm ups for these. I've been gel printing cards like crazy, with the 3x5 gel plate, mainly daffodils, and now feathers (got a bag at the craft store), so much fun. I truly enjoyed this card making vid, thanks! p.s. you have amazing content!

    • @KathyBrooksArt
      @KathyBrooksArt Год назад +1

      @@chrisloudart It is addicting. Thankfully, the daffodils have stopped blooming. They were gallant volunteers for printing, each flower lasts for about 10-18 pulls (I put them back in the water at the end of each printing session) they make great prints, and the paint pull off sheets are great collage fodder. I also love painting directly on the plate w/brush, and pulling cards w unique abstracts. So much fun.

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  19 дней назад +1

      Thanks, Dawn! For these cards I was painting on 98lb (160gsm) mixed media paper - amzn.to/49dSlou Since the paper isn't very thick I typically paint with thinner layers of paint so it doesn't buckle too much. 😊
