A blank white canvas is intimidating all by itself. As an over-thinker and a perfectionist, having a time limit relieves the pressure I feel that my painting has to be just so, and free from mistakes. But now I can have fun and just enjoy the process of creating. Thank you so much for sharing and helping remove my greatest stumbling block.
I totally get that, Karen! A blank canvas can feel like a lot of pressure! I’m so glad the time limit helps take the edge off and lets you enjoy the process. Have fun creating without the stress of perfection!
I loved to watch this. It shows me how limits can be freeing. Limited time and color can be less overwhelming and will avoid me overthinking.
That’s exactly it, Celeste! Setting some limits can actually open up so much freedom and keep you from getting stuck in your head. I’m happy it resonated with you!😊
Chris I find your challenge so interesting and love what comes out. Thanks for sharing
I appreciate it, Nilda! These were fun exercises.😊
I have now watched every video here. Really enjoyed myself and learned sooo.. much! Your color choices are always just right in the end. I will be warming up with prompts from now on. Thanks for your consistent, pleasant commentary.
Wow, you’ve watched them all?! That’s amazing-thank you so much! I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed the journey and found the commentary helpful. Warm-ups are such a fun way to get started-happy creating!
Really great demos Chris! I'm still binge watching your videos - can't get enough of 'em! Thank you for sharing your talent!!! ☺
So glad you like them, Shari! ❤️
Great demos, as always, Chris, and it is so good to be reminded not to 3xp3ct masterpieces every time😂 and the phrase "i enjoyed making it" is crucial to my sense of purpose😊😊😊
Thanks so much, Emmanuel! You’re absolutely right-there's no reason to miss out on all the joy of painting with high expectations. Keep having fun with it!
Great to watch you paint these. Thanks for the advice and sharing your thoughts 😊
Thank you, Maggie! I'm so happy you like these!♥️
You're amazing! Loved watching this.
@@karenisamedium Thanks so much, Karen!
I know you just put this video out there - already watched it several times - so much to take in - ❤ thank you sharing and teaching the way you do
Hey Kelly! So glad you like this one! BTW-I love the art that I see you posting on Instagram lately!❤️😍
@@chrisloudart your so kind!!! I want to do more art like you - yet people want more art like I have been posting - I am in a real struggle with myself. Do I do art for them (it is selling can support my habit) but doesn’t leave time for me to do art work that I truly want to do …. So for the moment I will live vicariously through you - so thankful :)
@kellybeale1895 Strike while the iron is hot! You'll eventually find time to play with other styles 🙂
@@chrisloudart thank you! I will follow your advice
:)
Can we just put 7 more hours in a day so we can do everything 😂
@@kellybeale1895 Haha, wouldn't that be nice?
Thanks for the demos, and for sharing your tips and techniques.
Thanks for watching, Cicero!♥️
I love these process type videos …. Yum ! More please !!!
Thanks, Jason! More to come🙂
I love and appreciate your prompts. This was great and I look forward to trying them. Thanks Chris, for your videos and walking us through how to loosen up. ❤️🇨🇦
Thanks so much, Helene! Let me know how the painting goes😊
New subscriber here! I found your channel a few days ago and you are just what I need right now. For years I've have painted commissions of realistic portraits in acrylic. Sometimes get a bit fed up trying to paint exact likeness and flawless faces all the time. I'm desperate to let go, to try something completely different to keep me sane if nothing else, and I've found the answer here. Your challenge is just what I need to 'free myself' and I intend to get started today! May have to give myself 20 mins each tho..😉
Thank you so much!
So glad you found the channel, and thank you for subscribing! I totally get it-painting more representational pieces can be intense, and it’s great that you’re ready to let go and explore something new. Giving yourself 20 minutes sounds like a perfect way to ease in and have some fun with it. Make adjustments as you see fit, but remember to push your boundaries when you can. Enjoy the creative freedom!😊
I have been waiting for your your next video! Inspired me to put ‘Paint’ on my to do list today…
Love it, Nicole! We both have 'Paint' on our to do list 😊 I just finished putting gesso on a few canvases and varnishing a couple of small paintings. Next...I get to paint!
This is always fun and motivating.
Thanks, Guylaine!
It was fun to watch ❤
Thank you, Jane!
Thanks Chris
Thanks for watching, Marc!
Love your videos, I always feel inspired! Thank you 🙏
So glad you like them! Thanks, Ann!❤️
Wow this is just wonderful! Thank you
Thanks so much, Kelly!
Merci, j’adore vos pistes créatives!
Merci beaucoup Ghislaine !
Always find your videos inspiring. Just a thought about the orientation of the finished pieces whether looking at them through a mirror might just make either 'work' maybe
Thank you so much! That's a great suggestion. I haven't used a mirror in a while like that. I'll give it a try! I keep going back and forth on both of these-one moment I really like them, then next not so much.
I have learned so much from you regarding color. Adding depth to colors so they aren't so flat and your shading techniques!!!👏🏼 I super appreciate you always sharing. These techniques have definitely improved my artwork 🎉 Thanks Chris!
I really appreciate you letting me know that! ❤️ You've made my day!😊
Chris! This is another fine art mess you've got me into. Thank you. Much love and peace from London UK 🎉❤😊
Haha, glad I could inspire some creative chaos! Creative messes are usually where the magic happens.😊
This is cool! Love it.
BTW, who do you use to do your mugs?
Thank you so much! ❤️ I use a company called Spring (teespring.com) for my mugs.
The first abstract vertical, looks like a profile of a rooster. 🐓
Hey Kimberly! I'm not seeing it yet, but I have a feeling I'll be looking at this all day until I do. 😂
Amazing! How do you make the paint transparent like that? Did you use acrylic medium? Asking as there is no mention about it on the product list
Thank you so much! Neither of these paints are transparent, however, using the silicone bowl scraper creates such a thin layer of paint they look transparent on the page. When I'm using the brush, I added a little water to the paint. I hope that helps. 😊 Using a transparent paint is also a good way to do this exercise, but you don't have to.
Chris what are you using for the black, is that an oil pastel?
Hey Kelly! I'm using charcoal and spreading/softening it with a blending stump. I've done something similar with an oil pastel before, though.
I'm with you, I'm not sure about either of the paintings, but the first one might grow on me. As always Ive enjoyed watching you go through the process of de-thinking🫤☺️ and I look forward to the next one.
Mums in her new little house now I'm working on evicting her stuff from my workshop yeay!! Cheers!
Thanks, Howling! The first one has started to grow on me a little, but still not in love with either. Oh well, they were fun little warm-ups. Congrats🎉 on getting Mum all moved in and a step closer to reclaiming your workshop! Cheers!
@@chrisloudart yes its is fun doing warm ups, and maybe if you see them long enough you might be able to tweak them more. But it is as you say, they're not meant to be master pieces, but I reckon its certainly a bonus if they are😊. Yes not long now and I'll be able to reclaim my workshop back, mums adapting quite well to an off grid system, once the weather stops being savage I'll make a little video. How was your trip away with your friends, I hope you had a most spectacular time away, I hope you're well and happy. Cheers!
I’m so glad to hear your mum’s adapting well. Can’t wait to see your video once the weather plays nice. The trip was fantastic-feeling refreshed and creative again! Cheers!
