I really admire Flora's painting greatly and how she has captured the spirit of the Rococo (including Tiepolo), it's colours, movement and spirit in a modern way.
I suddenly came across her work here on RUclips and I have to admit this is the kind of stuff my mind was looking for! It takes me to a dream like state - where colors, forms flow all around producing ethereal perceptions... love her work absolutely
Her work seduces me., I’m a grown man that seriously paints as hobby. Flora’s a big influence on me. Ive been following her work before on-boarding w Miro gallery. What a fit! I hope she keeps searching. Your work flows in such an intriguing way. It is abstract but has clarity. I’m glad Flora’s around.
Very, very clever, I would say its highly organised freedom!! Ethereal... Flora has a depth to her personality and soul she is expressing beautifully. Thank you for talking to us too, Flora. God Bless you.
I cudnt believe what I?was seeing...the works allow one to see so much + the colours ...absolutely stunning ..they make use your mind/eyes together as images FLOOD your whole everything!!!!what an absolute gift -I KNOW THESE PICTURES ...INCREDIBLE you think u know what yr seeing ,+then you look?again...I am SO MOVED BEYOND BY HER STUNNING WORK....BRAAAAAAAA-VOOOO
I love Flora's work, and it was great to hear more about her inspiration and process. I was particularly interested in her point about the art world's distrust of the decorative and beautiful and where that feeling comes from. I also found her reflections on her work to be quite thought-provoking, inspiring me to take a closer look.
Wow! ❤ What a brilliant gem of an artist! The way in which she describes how she thinks about her art is how I operate in my life. My inner world is as colorful and abstract as her art. I’m constantly breaking down concepts, ideas & the human experience to the sum of it’s parts to reinterpret, reimagine, explore myself and find meaning in the world around me. It is a fabulous way to live. I live in a world of magic & I live close to life’s raw materials to build my own world 🍃🌸🌿✨
Usually visual artists are less articulate and struggles to verbally define there way’s of seeing art! you open a secret territory for us and share your intimate landscape, I find your philosophy extremely mature for a young woman like you, I greatly appreciate to listening to you ! ❤
What an interesting worldview she has, I love her way of analyzing things. The work is absolutely stunning, the colour schemes are very inspiring for me as a painter ❤
Interesting to hear how Flora sees art. I agree that it has immediate impact, unlike music....although if i hear the first 2 bars of music, i can be tuned out pretty fast. Unraveling all the aspects of a painting can be an enlightening experience. I fell in love with her artistic marks and colours and how knowledgeable Flora is. Romantic and enchanting and sometimes angry and painful but always made with heartfelt emotion....with a name such as Flora, maybe this was always within her?
Thanks for what you have to say in this film, Kate, especially how your painting connects to your own understandings of life - yours and your Father’s.
Wonderfull Artist and so articulated about her inspirations and practice. Really interesting to meet her and her art and I really loved her expression “ from the looked at to the experiential” 🎵🩷💗♥️🎶
9:00 I agree, I think the chauvinism against the 'decorative' is also deeply linked to anthropocentrism. in nature, there is no distinction between form and function - the reason why a flower is decorative is not just for fun, its directly tied to its survival - to absorb a certain quanta of light so it can function optimally and also attract pollinators to continue its future progeny
I agree. Decoration or adornment is a universal of human culture. There's nothing trivial about it. Our long-standing greed for gold and precious stones is all about decoration - these things have no basic useful purpose.
@lobstermash it’s useful when you’re attracting mates or using certain jewels or minerals as a way to directly symbolize hierarchy, power and exclusive access. Decorations easily communicate ideas or feelings that can saturate a place. A “sacred” place will have decorations that hope to invade the psyche and senses with whatever properties the deity that the sacred place is dedicated too. We do this in our homes in smaller ways. You can trick the mind to getting into a certain state much faster. As for the greedy….i think they care a bit more on symbolizing to others that they are at the top of a hierarchy, are powerful or have exclusive access to something. Like Tyrian purple only allowed to be worn by the nobility.
@RapidBlindfolds chauvinism against the decorative seems to be something that is much more contemporary. Humans have always seems to love decorative flourishes to their everyday objects. I think a lot of ideas regarding decoration being akin to frivolity comes from utilitarianism and movements that are related to communism and (subsequently) secularism. Decorative items became much more symbolic of the excess of the “bourgeois” class and the perceived absurdity of the religious. I also think the Industrial Revolution encouraged this too. As production of everything from buildings to household items become more streamlined to be made cheaper and faster….we have less and less skilled laborers and artisans who learn the more decorative elements of craftsmanship because they’re more expensive and take more time to create works (and hone skill necessary to create the works).
I love your painting style it’s full of energy and harmonious colours. These paintings make me feel happy. How long does it take to create a large painting?
Wow, what a fabulous artist, so articulate in explaining how she sees and feels her painting practice. Really interesting.
She is my favourite living painter. I am so happy she is succeeding.
To come across an artist who can articulate their process is a gift. And what work. Fantastic from Ireland 🍀
These are such stunning works. Its so good to see a painter really engaged with actual paint. Such vibrant colours. Beautiful!

Lovely, soft yet bold, evocative brush strokes which bring the colors to life. Very eye pleasing. Cheers!!
Absolutely brilliant work. A deft hand and great awareness of the essence of art. Beautiful.
How something that have been layering over time can be accessed in one go is a blessing. Beautiful work.👍

I feel it's also rigid intellectualism, as if enjoying beauty is somehow superficial, when it's natural and essential part of being human.
Beri good Art ❤❤❤
Intellectuals that do art, are my favorite artists.
A rare breed indeed today. But this artist didn't get too intellectual, I think. Interesting - but mostly talk of the practical.
Nice work!
