    Hi Jon a good win on a nasty day. I learnt something interesting in that I am not the only one who bands direct to the hook sometimes. I do that on the waggler because it means I can change to meat or a bunch of maggots etc without changing hook lengths. Everyone else I have talked to tell me it’s wrong and I should be fishing a hair but I’m not sure. Drennan used to produce a band with an eye which I liked but I can’t find them anymore. Your little girl is growing quickly, as they do. Before you know it she will be a teenager brace yourself!! I’m now a great grandparent where did the years go. Regards Bill

    Hi Jon, great vid as usual. You mentioned elsewhere in the comments that the waggler line was set at dead depth but where the fish taking on the drop or once the pellet had hit the bottom? Your videos are most informative and well made. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jon why do you think you never caught on the bomb line,great dip about the pellet band as well thanks

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  5 лет назад

      I just think they can blow a bait in and spit it out on the bomb so much easier without you ever seeing a bite.

    Hi Jon, what led you to try pinging hard pellets and the wag? I would never have thought to try either at this time of year

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  5 лет назад

      Just a hunch really as I knew there was potentially a load of silvers and wanted to avoid them and catch the carp. Plus a hard 6mm allowed me to fish sensible gear to get 10lbers out.

  • @scottessery100
    @scottessery100 5 лет назад +2

    why does a bomb over the pole line work better than the pole float? or a waggler work better if a pole has better presentation?

    Hi Jon, were you fishing the waggler at depth or off the bottom? Thanks for all the videos, first one I watched was the Friday flier at tbf and haven't missed one since.

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  5 лет назад +1

      At depth mostly but I tried off and deeper. I set the waggler to the depth I found down my own margins and used that as a benchmark. Immediately after the match I walked round to where I was casting and plumbed it up and it was the same depth.

    what's the reason for short hook length 2 & 4 inch? great show

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  3 года назад +1

      Shorter the hook link on a feeder the greater the chance of a fish not being able to eject it. Shorter on float gear and the quicker you will see a bite. Too short on both and you'll miss bites or the fish will reject the hook bait too quickly.

    • @Robonthemoor
      @Robonthemoor 3 года назад

      @@JonArthur can you explain in more depth! do you mean it's the distance from your last shot? but the shot can be put on hook link! or better still do a little video.

  • @Matchfishing251
    @Matchfishing251 5 лет назад +1

    did you fish the wagg on the deck jon ?

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  5 лет назад +2

      It's impossible to fish perfectly on the deck casting towards a sloping bank but I made a rough estimation based on my own margins and fished anything from the depth to 1ft off the deck. Straight after the match I went round and plumbed it up and I'd got it dead right. If time I might've gone round before the match and plumbed it!

    Have you had to adapt your fishing to the matrix gear or just fish the same ??

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  5 лет назад +1

      I think any new gear takes a bit of getting used to but not had any issues. Just learning what each elastic is capable of is the biggest thing for me. That's why one top kit had 12-14 Core and the other 12-14 Slik.
