Thinking of you today John and your kindness to come and sit with a goggle eyed 16 year old teenager and her Mum after your show at the Kingsway Casino in Southport in 1969. What a beautiful gentle man. RIP today
Met him about a year or so before he passed. He was doing a 60's show in Halifax. The voice was still great. Had the good fortune to have a photo taken with him which I cherish. R. I. P. John
I love this song. John is so smooth and may I add quite handsome. He was also a great singer and I understand quite the guitar player. He and Scott are so missed.
John's voice was every bit as beautiful as Scott's. He was so down to earth handsome beautifully romantic singer. Underrated and had hard time in Scott's shadow. Love to hear his vocals. RIP John Walker. 🎶❣🎶
@@cm70707 hi Colin when I was a kid he married my sister & he bought me a guitar which I foolishly didn’t really bother to learn but later in life I remember when on a few occasions I asked him to play me something he played this track to me while we were watching the Rockford files , something we did a lot .
Oh Sweet Jesus...this song by Johnny Walker is the most beautiful melody of all the Walker Brothers recordings. I absolutely love it. Miss your voice and presence in our lives dear John. You left a footprint on our hearts. ⚘🙏⚘
This is not the Walker Brothers. This is John Maus, solo. Difficult isn't, as one goes his own way, to leave it at that. Or do your parent still take you by the hand?
John was and is underrated. Disappointing a voice like this can't be remembered perhaps outside those who lived it. I can't think of anyone better to harmonize with Scott.
He was indispensable to the Walker Brothers sound. Solo is always difficult when the mold is broken. He was less of a song interpreter than Scott, though clearly a vocal and instrumental talent.
I was fortunate enough to meet John Walker Maus in person and I can honestly say that he was and still remains the most handsome, sexiest man I have ever encountered or set eyes upon. That jawline, husky voice and long lanky physique - that is what made him irresistible to me in the 60's, 70's and way beyond. I have never encountered anyone who could compare.
My brother me him and was fortunate to open for him one time at one of his concerts he couldn't stop talking about him all I could say was did you tell him about me lol but I don't think he did
I have just had my 70th birthday and have been a Walker Brothers fan since I was 13. I also was fortunate enough to meet John when he did a solo gig at the Kingsway Casino in Southport in the late 60s. My mum took me in as I was a little underage. After the show my mum asked if John would have a drink at our table. Will never forget how kind and polite he was to a very shy, dumb struck teenager. He chatted away to mum about films and I couldn't string two words together. Lovely, lovely gentleman.
The famous ’54 Fender Esquire guitar that Jeff Beck played early on in the Yardbirds, was bought by Jeff off of John Walker (birth name John Maus), when John was in the Walker Bros. Jeff couldn't afford a case for it, & it once fell off the back of an equipment truck at the loading dock. Not only was it not damaged, it was still in tune! Jeff eventually traded the guitar to Seymour Duncan for a Strat. The Esquire is now on loan from Seymour to the London Hard Rock Café for display.
Never heard this song before, though I lived in the 60's sounds period. It's so beautiful.Love hearing it for the first time in 2018.Like a time capsule trip.
As John had the misfortune to stand next to one of the greatest voices of the 20th century ( Scott Walker) , there were the inevitable comparisons. I think maybe it was a mistake for him to compete at all e.g. an album called If You Go Away, Scott's version is unsurpassable IMO. With better, more individual material and more imaginative management, maybe he would have had more commercial success as a solo artist
Never heard this song before, its beautiful ! I love John Walker , and Walker Brothers music. My favorite all time group , takes me back to 1967 with their music..my special year with the love of my life that I gave up. RIP You are missed.
They take me back to 1965 . First time they appeared on TV here in the U.K. I was only 12 years old then and so lucky to see them on their 1st tour @ Newcastle City Hall. They were the opening act on a triple bill which also included Lulu and was headlined by Roy Orbison . Nobody could hear a word Lulu or Roy sang cos the audience were still screaming for John ,Scott and Gary R.I.P. my beautiful angels and thank you for your beautiful music
this is the first time i heard john walker by himself ,i knew he had a wonderful voice to .but i didn't know he made songs on his own, which is a dame crime.and if they advertised here in the usa the idiots who let the brothers go to begin with i would have gotton his songs a long time ago,he had a wonderful voice and john and scott ,were heaven together,i loved both of them, i always wondered if they stayed together, what would have happened ,but scott did his own thing ,but they are in my book the best group of their time and being from that time ,both handsome men,but they should do his songs a lot more on any oldie stations around the world, open up and let people know THE USA IDIOTS BACK THEN LET GO THE BEST GROUP OF THEIR TIME ,but us USA girls loved them just as much as any english or any other girls in this world at that time which i get tired of people thinking american girls didn't go just as nuts over these guys, but i do know also the other reason for leaving to which i'm not saying ,because any true lover of the walker brothers know it already, but i'm sure i can go on line to get johns songs so sad that your gone john but you are still loved
Can you imagine some unknown young guy on idols or the voice , and the judges ask why he chose this song etc. "Well the best singers were in the 60's so i am really competing agiinst the best, John Maus aka John Walker. Blow some minds.
My continuing gratitude for sharing these Walker Brother videos. You are a Titan among Impresarios! Their music MUST endure all that time, death and destruction have to offer.
Yes, a lost love of mine, but I was the one that ended, and 50 years later we still have these deep feelings for one another, something you cant do a thing about.
