My husband was the spitting image of Scott Walker and he passed away 5 weeks ago. I have been playing his music a lot lately and this song brings tears to my eyes and makes me cry he had such an amazing voice and the lyrics incredible. Love you Scott xx

In the mid 1960’s I was working for the Granada Theatre group as a trainee theatre technician . The Walker Brothers were starring top of the bill on my last live stage show with the company .The fans were surrounding the theatre waiting eagerly to get in to see them perform that evening . I was already a fan of this wonderful trio led by Scott with his unique and unforgettable voice . I never forgot the privilege of being able to work on stage along with them , helping prepare lighting and sound for a performance that , by the reaction of their adoring fan’s screams and applause , would have been something they too would never have forgotten .

I love this song so so much i bought all scots Lps in the mid 60s i loved lights of cinncinati but this was the big one for scott only got to number 7 in the charts but who cares it will allways be number one for me it brings up all the wonderful memories i have of my youth in the 60s what a great time to grow up i am 74 now and suffer with my health but this song takes away the pain and helps me relive those lovely days so far gone now, thanks for posting whoever you are
Scott missed his calling. These songs were where his true talent lay. They have another word for this.... perfection. There is such a disconnect here between the teenie bopper world he lived in and the more sophisticated world of adults. Beautiful interpretation of the lyrics and even more beautiful his voice. Really, I believe this was his very best effort.

PIERCED6966 In my misspent youth too many years ago, amongst many other great times, I played with Humperdinck (Gerry Dorsey) in the clubs and with the Walkers when on tour in Germany. Ged and Scott were both amazingly professional and had voices you ached for. But they were two different breeds of singer. Scott would have been very ill at ease on a Las Vegas stage but that was where Ged came alive and did his best work. Very sorry to see John W had passed away as well.

Heard this song for the first time in years as one of the many lovely songs played on 'Heartbeat' (a much missed series). I'd forgotten how beautiful it was, and what a lovely voice he had. I was about 13 at the time, and I and most of my friends loved the Stones, Beatles, Who, etc - but one friend (Linda) thought Scott Walker was the best. We couldn't understand it, but I do now!

Just listened again to wonderful Scott walker's voice. Was feeling a bit down, but this version of Joanna made me smile again, it's so beautiful.

Amazing voice what a gift he has given us
When I was a young boy growing-up in Mozambique what a dream was to lesson to JOANA by Scott Walker. It made me dream of a wonderful and romantic world and my Joana was just a tear away
Heard this song for the first time in years as one of the many lovely songs played on 'Heartbeat' (a much missed series). I'd forgotten how beautiful it was, and what a lovely voice he had. I was about 13 at the time, and I and most of my friends loved the Stones, Beatles, Who, etc - but one friend (Linda) thought Scott Walker was the best. We couldn't understand it, but I do now!
Still stands up today as one of the great voices in music. Would love to hear Scott sing today.
