  • In this video, I will show you how to cut holes in meshes with Unreal Engine 5, one of the most powerful and realistic game engines in the market. You will learn how to use different tools and techniques to create dynamic and realistic holes in your meshes, whether you want to make windows, doors, bullet holes, or anything else.
Here are the tips and tricks that I will cover in this video:
How to use the Mesh Cut tool to create simple and precise holes in your meshes

I appreciate how Winbush walks through ALL of the steps regardless of how repetitive or trivial that step may seem, whether it is in the introductory courses or some random little feature topic like this one. Rather than simply saying “activate this plugin” he always includes the little steps like the “restart UE” part of the process. As a result there are never any surprises or guesswork involved in following along. Thanks Winbush, you make UE so much more approachable than it initially seems!

I remember there was a time when I would be at work and trying to figure something out so of course find it on RUclips to only see the tutorial skip all over the place because they assume you know what they know and I always drove me crazy. I always said I'd never do that and always assume it's the end users first time in the program so every step is essential 🤙🏾💪🏾

Something I used to do was I'd generate an image on Midjourney of objects and places, create depth maps on LeiaPix of them and then take that into Blender and put it together properly. Then I'd import it into Unreal Engine, set the Specular to 0 and create environments for cinematics. It'd look real and was my clever way of being able to have a decent amount of control over my environment. Lately though I've abandoned this and been tinkering with modeling inside of Unreal Engine since I've been getting creative with it. This method you're showing here is a fantastic way to create windows and doors also on buildings.

All these awesome tips are paving the way for Project Avalanche! I can't wait for all my work to be contained right within UE5! I await the day when I wake up to a post informing me that Winbrush just released a Project Avalanche tutorial! I would definitely pay for an entire series.

Nice. I was doing this exact thing last week Winbush, we seem to be on the same path here.
This week was learning how to cut up Megascan atlases and converting them to static meshes inside UE5, then turning those meshes into Niagra systems. Managed to get some really nice falling feathers with gravity and wind from the megascans feathers pack. Hours or fun. ;)

Amazing. You really helped with something else recently, maybe it was cloth sims, I forget, but SO helpful. Your short lucid style getting right to what is important, SO MUCH APPRECIATED! If you ever get around to dynamic texture/material lerping (like wiping with a cloth) that would be a life saver. That's the tutorial I need now. Smart multi layer render targets. Totally stuck.

They should add “modifiers” to meshes like Blender does it.

    Provers 3 verses 5-7
    5. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
    6. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
    7. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
