I like how all 3 groups treat the Splatfests differently The Squid Sisters splatfests seem more focused on just duking it out to see who stans which idol more, and thus their performances are on a smaller scale as the Splatfest is more about Turf Wars than music. Off the Hook's splatfests are much more music-centric so their Splatfests are designed around their music, and as such the event is turned into a big concert Deep Cut's splatfests are more event-centric. They treat the Splatfests as a big cultural event (which is really what it is) and make sure to go all out, making the Splatfests no longer focused on just the Turf-Wars, but also on making sure everyone is enjoying themselves and has something to do, so Splatfests have been turned into big festivals.
best opinion, thought out response i’ve seen, I love the idea of Deep Cut turning the splatfest into something of a cultural event. I think it’s a great evolution for it, and makes complete sense, considering things like the Superbowl being a holiday in America (idk what it’s like for other countries but i’m sure they have very culturally ingrained sporting events as well, im just not knowledgeable on them)

I saw this and felt a wave of nostalgia and sadness coming over me. Like it's not gonna come back anymore and I can't believe the Splatfests there are over already. I wish the amiibo's did get that function. Maybe a future update to the game could do it but idk. I would love to re-live that moment of Pearl and Marina performining again. It's a bit of a shame their performance isn't fully shown in this video

I already said I know it's not gonna happen but I would think it's so cool if they add an update for the anniversary or something so the amiibo can unlock that splatfest song performance again. (Or they should do that in Splatoon 3 that if you scan Pearl and Marina, that next to their gear, the game will ask you if you want to re-live their song and brings you back to the square for a moment. Wouldn't make much sense but I would love to see that)
The animations are smoother but a lot of it also has to do with character design. The inkling and octoling body proportions with the big head don't really lend themselves well to making the dances look good. But deep cut has a lot of design choices that counteract the amount of attention the head demands. They have colored fingertips that draw attention as they move around. Shiver's fan prop helps exaggerate her arm movement, and frye's baggy pants do the same for her heavy footwork. The other groups don't do as much, so the giant head being relatively still distracts from the dancing and makes it awkward.

i wish the floats and stalls were a lil lower and easier to see but i love how it's this massive carnival with a different feel for part 2, wayy more exciting
It is realistic, but I'm not a fan of it. It makes it hard to hear the song well, even when you're standing really close. Compared to Off the Hook, their music sounds crystal clear even from afar, so they're easily visible on the stage too.
god i love how shiver and frye have basically the same choreography but they both put a different spin to it really shows the contrast of their personalities
I like how Frye is doing what looks very much like Bharatnyam or Manipuri dancing while Shiver is CLEARLY doing Bon Odori, traditional Japanese fan dancing, but still in absolute sync and in complimentary fashion, with the music being a clear combination of traditional Indian and Japanese instruments combined and music. It gives their group a TOTALLY UNIQUE identity that flatly sets them apart from the two other sets of Idols, while providing a lot of unique cultural flavoring to their performance.
My thoughts exactly!!! It’s such a beautiful combination of Japanese and Indian culture, deep cut seems to heavily be inspired by unity and celebrating each other’s differences no matter who you are. Incorporating cultural dances and sounds from different countries makes a super cool vibe for their group, three different species of idols coming together for the most epic event in the splatoon franchise!
While big man doesn't dance as much, he seems to fit the quota for Brazillian music as well, so we could say that we have a mix of east, west and latín America in one group, all of them mixing perfectly with one another!

I love Deep Cut, too but my fave will forever be Off the Hook. I didn't really grow any attachment to Callie or Marie, but Pearl and Marina are the best and I can't wait for them in the DLC

It's fascinating to see the difference between the 3 difference groups: squid sisters focused more on the usual idol dances & music, but almost detached from their audience. Off the hook make it more like a concert & acknowledge the audience as something to entertain. Deep cut act not only as the hosts for the splatfest, but actively hype up the crowd not just by waving their hands at the audience almost as a queue, but also moving around the streets catches the attention of players.

I think deep cut is my favourite. The dancing animations are just soo expressive and really give us an idea of their personality even if we’ve only known them for a few weeks.

I honestly love the performance of Deepcut. All of them are amazing Ofc but Deep Cut just expands. I’m praying that we would be able to have deep cut amiibo that can not only do pictures but also song requests. It was so sad when they didn’t do that for Splatoon 2, so we would never really see that splatfest look again(only on RUclips ofc.) So hopefully when the amiibo is out they could do both!

Not just the Splatfest performances get bigger and better, but also the Splatfest battles. In Splatoon 1 they were only Turf War at night. In Splatoon 2 we got the x10 and x100 Battles and the special 3rd map. Now in Splatoon 3 we got x333 battles, 3 Teams and tricolor battle. Nice :)

I love how much personality Deep Cut's performance has. Shiver and Frye are technically doing the same choreography and dance moves, but Shiver's dance looks much more practiced and fluid, and Frye looks like she's forgotten some of the moves and is just improvising and frenetically flailing around. Compare that to the Squid Sisters, who are both professional idols and therefore have identically practiced dance moves (which fits those characters, too!) And of course Big Man is just vibing.
Totally agree!! It gave me the impression like, Shiver taught Frye the moves but she wasn't able to get them exactly or something, so it has her little charm to it :)
Right?? And the music also syncing into the beat of their swaying. I love how Shiver looks so smug yet comfy and Frye looks so upbeat and ready! Plus it’s like Shiver is looking at Frye saying “You ready?” and Frye is like “Oh heck ya!” I just really love that idle animation -^-

Quite like they move around in the 2nd half, gives the Splatfest in the hub more variety to keep it fresh. Kinda funny at the start there was no audio lol. Their idle animations kinda cute.
You can kinda see the inspiration of the culture to the three of them when they are alone, Big man is carnaval (kinda Samba) music Shiver is ancient instrument And Frye are kind alike a mix between indian and turkey style
I love how the floats are quite similar to concerts in tokyo dome where they have carts roaming around with the idols as well. It's the little details!!
I love Deep Cut more than Off the Hook, no one beats Callie and Marie but Deep Cut comes in a close second for me. Shiver and Frye, plus that Big Man, are just way more fun than Pearl and Marina

ooooh it's hard for me, deep cut has an asthetic I absolutely love, also I love their personalities. meanwhile off the hook I know better thanks to octo expansion. I will not be surprised if deep cut overtakes off the hook quickly if they're part of single player mode as most people suspect

I feel like the deep cut animations are a lot less "clunky" or uncanny looking than the dancing animations in the previous games

but if the floats go any lower i'm going to suffer from blunt force trauma. Maybe the floats could be shorter

That's because Splatsville is bigger than Inkopolis Square, so they had to change the sounds to compensate.

Shiver and Frye are technically doing the same choreography and dance moves, but Shiver's dance looks much more practiced and fluid, and Frye looks like she's forgotten some of the moves and is just improvising and frenetically flailing around. Compare that to the Squid Sisters, who are both professional idols and therefore have identically practiced dance moves (which fits those characters, too!) And of course Big Man is just vibing.
Totally agree!! It gave me the impression like, Shiver taught Frye the moves but she wasn't able to get them exactly or something, so it has her little charm to it :)

I gotta admit I love splatoon 3's music the most simply because it gives powerful united vibes when it leads up to the main crescendo I guess XD It's like a "let's do this" song

Quite like they move around in the 2nd half, gives the Splatfest in the hub more variety to keep it fresh. Kinda funny at the start there was no audio lol. Their idle animations kinda cute.
You can kinda see the inspiration of the culture to the three of them when they are alone,

I love Deep Cut more than Off the Hook, no one beats Callie and Marie but Deep Cut comes in a close second for me. Shiver and Frye, plus that Big Man, are just way more fun than Pearl and Marina
