I kinda doubt "The Last Night" is ever coming out at this point. Also I really want to know how the devs figure the game will cost 10 million to complete what they already worked on? If completion is that out of reach then it beggars the questions like why are they still working on it, or why don't they try to rescope the game to cost less and be more manageable, etc? Strikes me as odd is all.
@@MonsieurAuContraire Yeah, it's one of those weird situations where it could be a scam or it could be a game that's so far ahead that it's really difficult to implement.

Thanks for the interesting review. I believe it is fair to call it a full-blown 3d game with a side scrolling camera, because even the animated 2D sprites are positioned within 3d scene.
Agreed ^^^. I think 2.5D is closer to when you have flat sprites in a 3D space (what Square Enix is doing with games like Triangle Strategies). But then again, its all new and experimental, so who am I to say :p
I immediately started thinking about that other game I saw a few years ago with a similar aesthetic that looked so cool and wished I could remember the name...then you showed it lol perfect. Disappointing that Last Night has been through so much development turmoil but hope these both see a release some day. They look fantastic.
This looks incredible! Thank you for highlighting it! Just found your channel :) I'd love for this style to be applied to something like a Disco Elysium (which it reminds me of quite a bit visually in ways).
So glad "The Last Night" isn't dead. Replaced is gonna beat them to it. Could you do a deep dive into "Little Devil Inside"? I think this could also revolutionize indie games but can't find a single thing out about it.
Thank you for these tips. Just updated my wishlist. If you like this kind, take a look into Midnight Fight Express. That was my fist tought seeing Replaced.
Love the STYLE of the pixel art.. it's one thing to be pixel art... but when you can use that style to really create something artistically GORGEOUS it is better than hyper realism any day, imo.
This and Spirit of Samuria really are making 2.5 D look great and special! I've very much looking forward to Replaced, and just finished the Spirit of Samuria demo and equally exicted.
If you wanna scratch that itch about 2.5 cyberpunk game until Replaced is out , you can play Between Horizon. 2.5 cyberpunk adventure, really good indie title
Definitely replacing The Last Night in my must play list. It's crazy to see the devlog of the guy playing with the knobs--that looks super cool, I've never seen anyone play with an external device to manipulate materials and effects in real time. I certainly hope we see one of these games. Cloudpunk was cool, but it didn't scratch the itch The Last Night caused with me. Clearly these devs love Inside, one of my all time favorite games . Good luck to the devs. Both of these games look stunning.
both these games i think would be very cool if there was a vr version of them, but rather than just being inside the game, you should be inside a fictional living room, sat on a couch, playing the video game on a "2.5D TV" that looks like a big screen tv, only the virtual world extends inside the TV. like a diorama box.
@drednorzt one thing I don't get is the steam virtual screen for playing pancake video games on a big screen in vr. It doesn't even support playing 3d capable games in a virtual 3d screen... I think I heard they might have been working on something to do with it a while ago, but last time I checked there was just no way to do it.
this looks a lot like the last night which uses a very similar style but who knows when it will be released. well damn i shouldn't have commented before finishing the video

I’m not understanding where this 300K sales to break even / “$10,000,000” number comes from… what exactly is all that money going towards paying back? & How could you be in that much debt 🤔🤷♂️
while I recognize the clickbait hustle, there isn’t a lot being done here that wasn’t first established by kentucky route zero in terms of presentation methods. which isn’t to say it won’t grab attention, it’s real polished, but these presentation techniques are extant for many years now.
Totally valid, I get what you mean in that it’s not the craziest video out there, however aside from that fact I do hope the video at least somewhat helps with sharing these games to more people, as it’s something I only recently came across but really felt like was such an awesome game concept
@@WAdriftthough there is another game that has done this, this video itself is very well written and made. And now I have a new game i'm willing to try thanks to you, rather than an unlovingly made AAA cashgrab.
your title is misleading and overblown. The game is beautiful but its not "gonna change the indie space" just because they have worked for so long on the game. It is beautiful and has a lot of attention to detail, bit its not revolutionary and I think you are "over-rating" it. Thanks!

It’s full 3D. The camera placements and movements choices don’t make it 2.5D. It’s the character’s degrees of freedom that matter. Not the range of freedom. Also I fail to see how this is supposed to “change the indie game space”. This studio has **dozens** of programmers and **dozens** of graphics, animation and design people !! No analysis, no argument, just empty buzz words amounting to having a clickbait title . 👎
I was looking forward to The Last Night and to think that this game had ALL of its problems because of a controversy CREATED by WOKE ACTIVISTS makes me even angrier about this movement. Thank goodness it's being buried, but this was one of the losses due to this sick agenda.
Its super smooth and some of the greatest animation ever in a game. This is incredible, cutting edge tech and will influence everything. Go home, sonny. Your mama is needing to tuck you in.
'Replaced' and 'The Last Night' both have a lot of the "feel" of Delphine Software's 'Another World' and 'Flashback'.
Another world had such a great feel and art style. Amazed that anyone else remembers it!!
