Nice one Tyler - wish I could justify upgrading - but atm I'm very happy with the image from my OG - would love the refined IO of the X though. Beautiful imagery as always, particularly at 12:16.

@Tyler Edwards Dude, you crack me up "I don't script my videos" that's actually what I love about your style! What did you go with to bring the lens mount and rails to the proper height to allow us to use motors? And yes the AF was solid through the video, haha. I don't know that I can see a real difference in image quality beyond the cleaner shadows and gradients, probably my eyes.

Nice one Tyler! Love the Komodo X and I find it a lot more attractive than the OG Komodo for all the hardware upgrades and the HFR.

I have the original Komodo and I'm very satisfied so far, so I'm not even considering upgrading to the Komodo-X. The improvements are good, but not really necessary for me personally. If anything, I'd love to upgrade to the V-Raptor since it's my absolute dream camera, but that price point is not justifiable right now. Still, I do love watching your footage shot on the KX, it does look awesome!
V-Raptor is a sweet camera but honestly too much camera for me right now. OH Komodo is still a great camera too! Thanks for watching!

yeah looks cool. the quality of a camera can be seen in its vintage quality I think. a picture should be judged on its yin (vintage quality) an yang its clear crystal digital quality (yang)

Great video Tyler. Nice sample footage. Part of me wishes I had the X for the monitor alone...however as you know, it's just not a big enough upgrade FOR ME. I say that, however I've yet to get my hands on one so far so we'll see.
Ya, the og is still such an incredible camera and the boxes the X checked for me may not be important to others. No need in spending extra money for no reason.

Would have upgraded from the original if they did internal ND's like the C70. Also the IR pollution can be a battle sometimes vs my C70 which has none.
Yup the IR filtration on the c70 is def stronger. I have a few ir cut filters laying around so I’ll throw those on when needed.
What ir cut filters do you use?

Great video man! I did have a question though. You mentioned it would be nice to have 4K and 5K anamorphic modes. Are there anamorphic modes in 6K?
oh, yes, there are 6k anamorphic modes! just not in 4k/5k

Hey Tyler. You can change between FPS modes by creating user presets.
True but it isn’t as efficient as a max FR toggle when bouncing between resolutions. They even added a max FR as user page item, dunno why it isn’t in the user button option though.
Have you mapped it to the user pages yet? That speeds it up even more. Also Jarred said a few days ago it can't be done on the Rec button. @@TylerEdwards

I’m really enjoying mine. I just can’t make a decision on the 7 inch monitor. I heard the connection isn’t really secure.
It’s mostly the RMI cable that is causing the problem. Definitely everyone’s biggest gripe with the monitor.

I use all sorts of lenses. The talking head in this video is the sigma 18-35

Do you think that the V-Raptor would add anything substantial to your filmmaking? Also, is the V raptor too physically big for certain aspects of the job (meaning, would you rather use a komodo x for its compact physique)?
Not particularly. VV would be awesome and the higher FPS would be cool, but that's kinda it. The size of the V-Raptor is actually aweosme and I honestly would love to have the KX that size.
What is the boot time compared to the OG Komodo?
it's like 10 seconds more - but black shading is only like 20-30 seconds so that's a massive improvement over the OG.
It takes 10 seconds more than Original Komodo?
I haven't timed it but it does take longer and that's my guess. But worth it, given how much faster it is at everything else. @@creativegreatsvisuals

I’ve owned just about every blackmagic camera and use bm cams alongside KX. They’re great cameras too. There still isn’t a GS camera on the market that comes close to KX though
@@TylerEdwards I don’t see anything special about it. It’s not better than a FX6 of any other camera that has similar specs. If anything I think BM has better colour science. It’s an overpriced piece of garbage. Same as Canon for that matter.
Not worth double the price over the OG. Not even close. No one can tell the difference these days especially if you are posting it online to vim/ YT/ IG
I own both. The benefits that make it worth it to me are not image quality (though low light is significantly better in real world cases)
For me, frame rates, audio, locking mount + quality of life improvements like CFx cards, DSMC3 accessories support, USB-C and AF improvements make the KX worth it over the OG Komodo.
OG Komodo is great, but the KX is absolutely worth the extra cash.
