No, it was more like 170 miles added. That last digit was the tenths. You can tell by how it was yellow compared to the others. And yes, there was a time when the odometer would roll backwards, but eventually they fixed that.
If you haven't picked a Thanksgiving movie, consider Planes Trains & Automobiles (also from John Hughes). It's a hilarious and heartfelt road comedy with Steve Martin and John Candy
Ahh! I think I might have to check this one out during Thanksgiving week. I've got one set for Thanksgiving week, but I'd like to add another one. Thanks so much for the recommendation :)
Despite Matthew Broderick's problematic past I'd still recommend the film Election (1999). It has extremely frenetic energy to it and also stars Reese Witherspoon and Chris Klein. Grosse Pointe Blank (1997) is another film gem starring John Cusack (and his sister Joan), Minnie Driver & Dan Aykroyd.
Oh wow! I just went ahead and googled this after reading your comment and that's absolutely insane! What an awful tragic loss for the Doherty family. And Jennifer Grey being there as well and sustaining such severe injuries. WOW!
@@jessebatres6895 And Jeffrey Jones (the principal) with his "diddlin" history tainting this film really is a bummer. Luckily they decided not to bring him back for the sequel to Beetlejuice.
True! And I was surprised how much they included his character in Beetlejuice part 2, but they did it in a clever way. Although, I was surprised they had his (the actor's) face on the Tombstone.
YES! Grosse Pointe Blank is one of the best comedies, along with So I Married An Axe Murderer, LOL. Alan Arkin with his dry sense of humor is hilarious and is in both.
This was a fun weekend movie at a unique theater we had til Katrina rolled in and ventilated it. It played late movies after they had their initial run. Tickets were a couple bucks and they had recliners and tables. You could get nachos for the group or even whole pizzas, massive drinks. It was a fitting end to a night of cruising, a little stoplight drag racing, and general carousing. We'd all wind up at The Silver Screen for a midnight show. This was a favorite. Even Deadpool paid homage to it. So did Spider Man Homecoming.
Haha! Yeah I was thinking the same about that unnecessarily huge ass doggy door. 😂😂 Man, it blew my mind how all of his actions would be voided since he broke multiple laws
1. Alan Ruck was 29 when filming. 2. Charlie Sheen didn't sleep for 48 hours prior to his scene to get into character, 3. Ah, the days when MTV played videos. 4. I'll be checking all of these out :) I feel like an idiot for missing the closing credits scene but now I feel like making a little skit and add it to the end of some reactions.

May I suggest watching *Point Break* with Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze? I won’t spoil anything, but I absolutely love the strong themes throughout the movie. As a kid, I didn’t fully grasp them, but watching it again as an adult, they really stood out.
16:21 JESSE~ I wasn't even thinking about your love of cars until Ferris told Cameron he had to fix the issue with Rooney. @@jessebatres6895 After this movie, John Hughes included closing credit and post credit scenes or moments in a few of his films. Before this movie, there weren't post credit sequences outside of Airplane! In Gremlins 2, the film broke and there was a blank screen and everyone in the theater groaned, until the Gremlins made shadow puppets and we realized it was part of the film.
This is one of my favorite John Hughes films. A classic that me, my Mom and my uncle watched in the theater when it first came out. We laughed our heads off and then went out for pizza afterwards. It was a great day out. If you liked this film, I would suggest checking out other Hughes cult classics like Pretty In Pink, Some Kind Of Wonderful and The Breakfast Club. Also, another great non-Hughes film in a very similar vein called No Small Affair. They're all cult classic 80's coming of age films.
Please tell me you didn't miss THE end scene? 😧HOW COULD YOU!? It's one of THE classic End Credit scenes in cinematic history. It's even parodied by Deadpool in his movie. You need to go back and release that footage to make this movie truly complete. ;)
I FUCKED UP! My camera had died when Rooney was in the bus and I looked up and realized it wasn't recording anymore and then I stopped the film when Rooney saw the sign "Rooney Eats It".
It's no wonder Jean turned out the way she did when you see how her mother treats her. When she did the emergency stop near the end of the film her mother instantly assumes she is fooling around and never even considers that she probably hit the breaks for a legitimate reason. She just starts getting angry and sorting her papers. She doesn't even bother to look up to see if there was an actual reason for Jean stopping. Seeing that sort of behaviour compared to how she sees her mother treat Ferris, it's no wonder she feels and acts the way she does.
Great observation! It helps us sympathize with Jean's character a bit because I think many of us can relate. There's always that one person that seems to get away with so much or get praise and rewards for giving minimal effort. Jean sees through it and is frustrated that no one else seems to realize it as well.
Sorry. I haven't been on here for a while. I was an 80's teen and loved this movie, my wife hates it. My daughter I showed it to her a few years ago and she was addicted to it. Great fun movie for sure.
I looked up more details and trivia on the film and read about. So awesome whenever films get to capture real events like that and man it's such an epic scene! Props to all the parade attendees who are forever captured in cinema! :)
I agree with you, Ferris is a sh*tty friend. I never understood why everyone thought he was so cool. Ferris totally took advantage of Cameron and was only thinking about himself. He never once considered Cameron, except for that brief instant when he thought he had drowned. I've always felt that Ferris is a terrible person. Yes, Cameron has to deal with his father but he had to do it on Ferris' terms. That wasn't fair.
In almost every movie there's a nice car/vehicle's that either get stolen or wrecked or fall off a cliff and blows up on impact by falling over a cliff
To me this has always been a perfect movie. Sure the fact it's oozing nostalgia but the combination of the camera work, the music and score, as well as one of the best scripts ever ties it up for me. But there is one major issue: the character Edward Roonie is played by Jeffery Jones. He plays an adult chasing essentially children around Chicago. Later on after the film he would be listed as a registered sex offender of children. So the ick factor is pretty high for me personally.
What's awesome about this film as well is that I liked it even more when I was editing it, and got to watch it again :) It's one of those that get better each time. Yeah, I was actually getting that uncomfortable feeling with the principal as well, especially when he was lurking around while Jeanie was home alone. I watched Beetle Juice about 2 months ago and that's when I first heard about this actor's history.
I had a chance to visit Chicago in November 2019. Cold as hell and raining and it snowed the second day I was there. Very beautiful and photogenic city!
I’d read somewhere that an oft overlooked point is that the money made by Mom from the deal with the Vermont people that she lost because of Jeannie, she was going to use to buy Ferris a car. So he kinda screwed himself there.
