If they return the V8 with the classic exhaust sound along with new styling in the exterior there is no doubt Maserati could stand on their own and even start to take the lead in the exotic world.

Maserati is taking two strong steps with the Grecale and MC20. They need to focus their R&D efforts on their arguably dated interiors then they could be heavy hitters in the luxury car market. Hyundai is already doing it with their Genesis brand. I have high hopes for maserati.

I have high hopes as well but I agree. They are on the right track with the Grecale interior as well.

@@RonsRides The interior of the upcoming Granturismo looks very good as well. I'm happy they stepped up their game and don't use cheap Chrysler buttons anymore. It looked cheap.

The key is models. Porsche (via Audi/VW) has access to dozens of models and tech it can relatively easily massage into Jedi-level Porsches (with monstrous profit margins). I said the same for Maserati years ago when I first got my Giulia Ti. As an American I'd never seen or touched an Alfa until 2018 and when I did I thought "Alfa can be the Acura/BMW/etc. and Maserati can be the Porsche", just use the same platforms and tech. The Grecale has just proven me to be a prognosticator. 🙂

You're 100% right. And since the Grecale is a direct Macan competitor, it only seems fitting.

If they split up, the development processes for new models gonna take even longer. Not only for Maserati, but also other brands like Alfa that share platform or parts. They first should launch their planned models and see if they are self sustainable

Thats a good idea and what will probably happen. Maserati still has a lot coming down the pipeline the next 5 years. We'll see what happens after that.

  • @normaluser5755

I don't know if it's a good idea. Maserati is the only luxury brand of Stellantis. On the other hand, Lancia could take it's place and start making luxury cars. I would love to see a new Flaminia as a luxury sedan, a new Fulvia as a small sports coupè and a new Aurelia as a luxury GT.

This is only possible if they go a fully EV drive only, developing an ICE drive that meets future environmental standards is impossible for a small company. Even in the EV world, many components are shared if the vehicle is to be decently priced.

Maserati is making many changes and another one could be the nail in the coffin. Electric vehicles haven’t proved themselves over the long term yet. How long will an electric last? Much is still unknown regarding the longevity of electric vehicles.

    • @RonsRides
