It's incredible how immersive using a virtual reality headset is! Not only do you 'see' inside the cockpit but you almost feel the turns as you bank left and right, or go up and down in the aircraft! How about yourselves though? Do you own and use a VR headset or are you thinking about getting one? Let me know below.
I have the Reverb G2. The immersion is amazing. The downside is that after some time your eyes really get tired. Also, it's not for everyone, it may cause nausea.
@@zephirusvideos I've heard and read great things about the Reverb G2. Eye tiredness is the main problem, or downside we're finding, where I'm looking at ways to improve it, for example potentially getting prescription lenses. It's interesting you mentioned nausea as I tried showing my Mum but she felt nausea within seconds of putting on the Quest 2.
Just ordered one for myself! I can't wait for the experience. I am going to do gliding on it and replicate the experience I had earlier this year when flying one In real Life. Thanks for the video!
Hi Striker, thank you for the comment and kind words 🙂! The Quest 2 is an excellent device and I have recently posted a review for the Quest 3 too which, if you are interested, is here: ruclips.net/video/iQOvJDVSwH4/видео.htmlsi=vqosBzZxtvLEjAbo . The Quest 2 remains an fantastic outstanding device though and I hope you enjoy it as much as we have.
I've used VR in MSFS as soon as it was available, and tell you what, it was full of bug for a long time, but lately it's been very stable. You can try some tricks, like place the headset on the floor and recenter, now stand up and walk sideways in flight, now you're wing walking. :)
🙂 I did notice you can look through the canopy of an aircraft while flying, which was brilliant flying low level in the jet (we were looking back over a wing of the Hawk). I didn't think of the wing walking idea. 🙂 I'll keep it in mind next time I visit.
@@james_newall You and your dad enjoy, MSFS is insanely flexible. Try the slew mode also, even to get into space with an ultralight. Or the drone mode to "walk thru" buildings. Have a good day. :)
Hi Ryan, thanks for the kind words and comment it's very much appreciated 🙂! It depends on where in the world you are but in the UK the PC build and VR headset came to approximately £2,300. However, prices have come down now so I would image it can be done for [considerably] less. I have posted a link to the video I made showing how I build the PC, where I have added links to ALL the components (including the monitor) in the description here: ruclips.net/video/47XtdfSXSE0/видео.htmlsi=O4xcEZ4_9LI1OQul
Hi mribss, thanks for the comment! Absolutely, I will getting the Quest 3 when it comes out and will post a review soon after 🙂(so stay tuned for that!). For now though, the Quest 2 is fantastic and has greatly improved the in flight experience my Dad is having with Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Should we tell him that he doesn't need a Oculus Link cable? We now have wireless VR option for the Quest platform.. be it Oculus Air Link or Virtual Desktop (and others... like ALVR)
Hi Kayo, thanks for the comment. I bought the link cable as a 'just in case' where I originally connected the Meta Quest 2 via WiFi, but the visuals were dreadful with noticeable lag/delay in flight making the whole experience unpleasant. The link cable resolved this though and we haven't had any problems since. That said, I was concerned for having another cable in the room, and more weight pulling down on the headset... but in reality, this hasn't proved to be a problem as neither of us noticed it while in game. Thank you for the ALVR suggestion though, I will have a look into it.
@@james_newall Yeah, it works better if you have a dedicated router or a wifi6 router from the isp... but ever since i tried wireless vr, i never switched back... the cable is so much of a hassle... not to mention all the addons and modifications i've done to my own Quest 2... (battery powered headclamp, headphones, fan for cooling the mask.. etc) makes routing a data cable very uncomfortable.
Hi Bob, thanks for the comment! Absolutely! I'm planning to get a Quest 3 when it comes out and will post a review soon after. Make sure to subscribe so you don't miss it 🙂

Now you have to buy a seat that moves :)
I must admit my Dad threw a bit of a curve ball mentioning of a seat and I am currently looking into what the 'best one' is.

Amazing. 😢
Great video. Thank you! What is the total cost to achieve the build to that spec?

You might have to invest in the quest 3 which has pancake lenses which are better visuals. Out in October I think. 👏
