Nice video, I wanted to say that on the wii version, if you use the latest 0.5 version it helps with the special stages quite a bit, AND as that version has mod support, you can get a mod that removes most of the unnecessary decorations and it runs at basically full speed, even better than the wiiu
I was gonna say, surely that special stage lag is an optimization issue with the early port and not a Wii hardware problem, right? Because there ain't no way the Wii isn't powerful enough to run those if programmed right, they're not exactly graphically intensive and several 3D Wii games have more demanding graphics and still run full 60 or at least smooth 30. (Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart, Sonic Colors at 30fps, etc.)
@@legoboy7107 Yeah, the REAL reason its slow is because its all running on the cpu and not the gpu, the ways I said just help it run a lot better on the cpu, still doesnt use the gpu, but yeah thats why 3d runs slow, other games and stuff use the gpu but this for now at least doesnt

The PlayStation Vita Port is Actually my favorite and it is not hard to install at all ! it supports mods and loading times are like 5 to 10 seconds I love it ! The only downside is that special stages run at a low ass 20 fps but I feel like it is one of the best ways to play it unnoficially thanks to the PSVita buttons and D-pad
I recently bought Sonic Mania off of Steam for $5. My first purchase on there. I’ve had a great time! It works great, considering I have UHD 620 graphics.

It's notable for being considered creepy to those who grew up with the American soundtrack of Sonic CD due to it using the final boss theme and also the image that's used on it. I'm not going to spoil it here but you should be able to find a video on youtube by putting in "fun is infinite sonic cd"
8:10 I will say getting CFW on Wii U has never been easier these days and you get the benefit of having it show up as an app on the main menu which adds to the authenticity of the port. But I'm hoping someone manages to finish the special stage part of the port as some point 😔 it's practically flawless otherwise
You might need to do the (select + D-pad up) over clock thing bcuz the special 3D stages are kinda slower than the switch but with that trick they work pretty well.
while I was stuck at someone else's house with nothing but my 3DS I did a full playthrough on the 3DS version, very nice aside from the issues with 3D models and loading times
I'm genuinely surprised the Special Stages struggle to run on some platforms. They aren't exactly...graphically demanding. Maybe it's the framerate? Either way, seeing my favorite Sonic game - and YES, the best Sonic game ever - accessible in so many ways warms my heart.
I was 6 when this game came out so when I turned 9 I got it on my ps4 and I stayed up for 3 days playing it and I basically grew up playing it with my best friend on his switch and PlayStation together
And guess what. NETFLIX IS RELEASING AN OFFICIAL MOBILE PORT. So nice bc the port of the decomp isnt working on my phone (it just shows a black screen but the audio still plays)

I own SEGA Dreamcast, and I don't think that Sonic Mania is the best 2D Sonic game (CD is there for me), but i do think that this is the best way to experience 2D Sonic for people, who never saw original games, and i like it for that (Also i have PS4+ version)
You'd be surprised that the DOS port of Mania shows how intensive the fade effects are... I ran it on two Pentium IIIs, slower one of which is 550 MHz... and oh boy, are they intensive. And if you are not using the Windows Sound System version, the audio may stutter. No, I was not using VMs or 86box. Actual old P3s. 😂

In response to 6:47, the 3DS is a complete and utter piece of garbage. The Vita actually has good games, due to it not being a complete potato that's only good for its few exclusives. It's also one of the best handhelds to mod considering it's literally the size of a 3DS XL, plus the homebrew scene is great. Dreamcast emulation, actually good N64 emulation, basically anything before the 6th gen can be emulated and works just fine or is acceptable. Around 40-50 popular Android games have been ported, you can emulate DS games (not perfect so far though), you can emulate an exact replica of a PSP, XMB and all at a constant 60fps, with near perfect game compatibility with only a few not working right, and you can stream your PS3, PS4, and PS5 to the Vita also. It's probably the 2nd best modded handheld to get, 1st being the Switch. Steam Deck's still the best. Also a Vita's like $70-$130, sometimes even in box, and that's around or even cheaper than the price of a used or new New/Original 2DS/3DS XL/LL.

The Special Stages actually *are* but it’s because Sonic Mania does not use the GPU to render 3D models whatosever. It’s all software-rendered.
