How to change the circulation pump on dishwasher that is not cleaning properly

Our Dishwasher (GE Model Number DDT595SMJ0ES) was not cleaning the dishes and I figured out that water was coming into and draining out of the dishwasher just fine but not circulating in the dishwasher and so the dishes did not get clean. The dishwasher circulation pump had gone bad and so I took off the old one and replaced it with a new circulation pump. It was fast and easy to do and it saved us a lot of money to do it myself. The new pump only cost about $85 vs. the cost of a new dishwasher. It worked great until the water stopped draining out of the dishwasher a couple of months later. FWIW - The motor can be easily jumped in isolation by twisting an old power cable to the leads and plugging it into an outlet since its 120v ac. Doing that would have confirmed if you needed a new one before buying the replacement.

if the wash pump hose is leaking how do you just change the hose?

You can buy a new hose. I just removed and cleaned the one I had then put it back in place to make sure that was not the problem.

reply. How does new hose fit into the non clamped side? Do you have to remove the black plastic cap on the pump? Thanks

@@asuchemist3371 If I remember correctly there are clamps on both sides. I'm not sure which hose you are referring to. The main drain hose that goes back to the sink drain? If so it has a valve on it which is a one way valve (The black end) that prevents waste water from flowing backward from the drain back into the dishwasher. Sometimes this one way valve can get clogged or broken and prevent proper draining of the dishwasher. Ultimately I tried fixing this dishwasher so many times I had to get rid of it and get a new one which was annoying but our new bosch dishwasher has been great.

@@fathersonrepairdiy10:27 the hose here on the pump. mine has a leak. I want to see if it comes off without having to move dishwasher.
I am close to getting a bosch too!
