I played the actual song for my wife one time. She said “sounds like his guitar has a sore throat” - I told her that was one of the best compliments you could ever give a guitar tone!
When The Stones got Mick Taylor in the band by 69.They went back to their original Rock/Blues sound. That opening riff is by far one of the most raunchyiest of all time. 😃 😊 😀
Hi James James, I just bought a new telecaster as a reward to myself for beating cancer!!!! Are there any other open g songs you cover or breakdown for us? Btw I love this Tele! Not as much as your wisdom and patience! I can't tell you how important you've been to me lying here in bed for months playing my strat with your songs.... I'm not sure how I would've gotten through this ordeal without you. From the bottom of my heart thank you for being my outlet to forget about everything I was going through for a little while..... Thank you again, you're the best!!!!!
Great to see it played out. One of the most brilliant solos ever. Only Mick Taylor could put that strange mix of notes together and turn them into intoxicating pleasure. Thanks!
Syrupy bluesy riffs and fills conjure images of smoke-filled bars and endless nights. Just outstanding. That opening riff's been my ringtone for the past several years and never disappoints.
Sir you are truly a great guitar player and i miss your tutorials and stories very much. I hope this comment finds you well and wish you all the good luck and happiness in the world. I hope you return to the channel in your good time. Until then my good man!
This is amazing. The retune mid-song is incredibly classy, musically done. But the fills you threw in during the open G intro were especially tasty and inspiring... so much to learn from this video! Thank you again.
The thing with JJs channels (PT and this one) is that even with the covers he posts you can learn the song so easily or at least something about it. For example, I have just realized that if I crank up the reverb from my Marshall I will nail the guitar tone from this song completely. Or maybe listening too much to the Stones is blessing my fingers or my god damn right hand. Thanks for everything James!!!
The guitar tone is absolutely spot on James..and it has to be because this is the most vicious visceral opening riff to any song ever placed on record...when Keith put his mind to the task at hand...guitar magic usually occurred...😊
James, I enjoy all your lessons and your playing is always spot on. But that has to be one of my favorite of all time... freaking awesome! You play with a feel for the song that others on utube just don't have.... You certainly have a gift, no doubt about it! Thanks James
As awesome and iconic as Keith's riffs are on this track, I really dig the choppy clean chords Mick plays. They are the perfect compliment and foil to Keith's crunchy, aggressive guitar part.
Damn, Thank you James for playing the song in its entirety. I can play and dont need a string by sring or play by play as most guys are doing with this song ....cool that you tuned up and did the Mick Taylor part after open G .....Thanks
Love that 335! Great looking in ebony! Much better than the 2017 blueberry and pink bursts Les Pauls! I'm happily and grateful for the Gibsons I own but the new ones don't do it for me at all! With Memphis Plant closing up, I hope they reorganize their focus before they fade away!
Bruce Wayne I'm a Fender guy, but I still feed bad for Gibson players, what is going on with that company? Closing a plant, pissing off their signature artists, bad color/design choices....WTF?!
That is so helpful. I am hoping to plat and sing this with the band I’m in one day. This has cut down on my work load tremendously. I plan to do this sort of video on my RUclips page one day. Thank you for your time and dedication
Idk if you will read this but man I really appreciate what you are doing. I've been playing a while and the other videos are not a fast enough pace for experienced players who learn in a second like allot of us. On a personal note you've helped me through a tough time. After losing my daughter last summer to drugs I ended up grieving in a house in the coast of maine and reinvigorating myself in my playing. You are the only one that delivers and I'm not bitching atwhoever for taking 4 minutes to show me where my third finger goes when I play a chord etc...✌
I played the actual song for my wife one time. She said “sounds like his guitar has a sore throat” - I told her that was one of the best compliments you could ever give a guitar tone!
Exactly! Love Keith's chunky sore throat tone!
You can get that tone if your guitar smokes a lot and takes shots of whiskey or bourbon.
Yup It's just sick!!!
is so cool that someone dont know too much about music say their opinion
Now all you need is a bass player with a torn speaker to compliment the sound
Greatest opening riff ever.
It just might be.
James James non Chuck Berry division.
I would agree
Nick paflas the only competitor maybe could be the opening of “money for nothing”
Most days i think so, but then "Monkey Man" or "Gimme Shelter" come to mind and create a disturbance in my beliefs.
Mick T sure knew how to throw down a tasteful, memorable solo.
Man that riff is infectious

Damon r Congratulations friend!!! Music is the greatest outlet in the world. I love my Tele too man. Stay Strong!!
thats a touching tribute to a great guy
God bless you
Congrats, I wish I could beat my MS, but there's no cure...yet
@@77Avadon77 Wishing you all the best ! We know a couple of people with MS. We try to be very supportive and help out as needed. Chin up .
This man has the best t shirt collection I’ve ever seen, especially on the Stones.
Keith is a genius. Good job.
All of the second half was played by Mick Taylor, with Keith chipping in with a bit of dirty rythym.
Thumbs up here that this is The Best Stones Tune of All Time. Thx, JJ!
This is absolutely wicked. The tune is obviously seared into your soul and your playing is superb.
🍻
And I commented on this before getting to the 2nd half jam session.
👏

Richards couldn't have played it any better, one of his greatest riffs in my opinion.
Thank you Mr James! Those of us with Sticky Fingers salute you.
This is amazing. The retune mid-song is incredibly classy, musically done. But the fills you threw in during the open G intro were especially tasty and inspiring... so much to learn from this video! Thank you again.
Outstanding!!!
always has the best shirts
Absolutely outstanding.

I listen to this pretty well every week. Go to to work, havin' a smoke on break. One of greatest vibes of the last century and a few to come.
This is my Favorite Stones song of all time Perfectly done Great job !!!!!
You are the only guy that got this song down perfectly!!! Such a rocker, thank you kind sir
I love this song, and need to learn it.All I know is Midnight Rambler, and Angie.
The guitar tone is absolutely spot on James..and it has to be because this is the most vicious visceral opening riff to any song ever placed on record...when Keith put his mind to the task at hand...guitar magic usually occurred...😊
Love what you do. Thank you
wow , excellent. This song is one of the reason Keith is a guitar legend, even though he's not a EVH type
No matter I am, this track comes on, something's going down
10 stars, my man!
This guy can play
That was freaking awesome.Wow! 👍🎸
Oh yes,excellant,classic,REAL R&R !
James, I enjoy all your lessons and your playing is always spot on. But that has to be one of my favorite of all time... freaking awesome! You play with a feel for the song that others on utube just don't have.... You certainly have a gift, no doubt about it! Thanks James
Just terrific! Retuned on the fly and didn’t miss a beat. Mick Taylor channeling his inner Santana on the solo? Sounds that way to me.
Not sure which is the better Santana impersonation: this one or Time Waits for No One.
Defintely a santana vibe. I also hear a some robby krieger in the beginning of the solo where it goes dorian for a sec.
love your sound man,,
@@GTrules123 , Mick Taylor was on Jimmy Fallon in 2013 and played CYHMN with the band. He still has it. Search Vimeo
I’ve always said that had a Santana vibe to it , Mick is an absolute perfectionist on this 😎
Ha! Thumbs up for the mid song re-tune.
Wow!!! I think of all the groups you play The Stones better...even though you play everything great. Always a pleasure to watch you play.
Fantastic says it all
Damn good, man !
I have come back several times to watch and listen to this. I M impressed What a pleasure to listen to.
Thanks! I needed that.
Awesome tone and impeccable timing...
As awesome and iconic as Keith's riffs are on this track, I really dig the choppy clean chords Mick plays. They are the perfect compliment and foil to Keith's crunchy, aggressive guitar part.
Drive it Home James! Amazing!
Rocked all the way through this while coding this evening. Thanks James.
That’s incredible. You hear every little nuance and attitude along with every note. Amazing to watch.
i really like your interpretation of stones songs but most especially this one............ and re-tuning in mid song. lol. awesome.
Wonderful as always, Mr. James! Thank you!
Holy cow that was amazing, a real joy of a guitar lesson. Thanks James.
Damn, Thank you James for playing the song in its entirety. I can play and dont need a string by sring or play by play as most guys are doing with this song ....cool that you tuned up and did the Mick Taylor part after open G .....Thanks
I always enjoy and appreciate your lessons......very very talented dude....
Gosh I love playing that song. That open G loose Keith feel is such a nice groove to lock into. Well done man
Bravo! You have that down cold and perfect tone too.
such a fun one to play!!!! Well done as usual.
You are always good, many times fantastic, but this... really really F’ing good. As always James, thanks for all you do brother.
Thanks JJ, that was KILLER!
Note for note!! I’ve been working on this tune for a few days and now I can see how much of it is played. Thanx man!!
Hello James... I used to follow your old account and remember your lesson for this song. Many great years of lessons. Thanks so much for your time.
Thanks so much. I've been wanting to play this for a long time, but couldn't figure out how to transition from rhythm to solo.
Missing you JJ.
Wow, great job, loved it, I've got a long way to go with that song lol
Your dedication pays off. 100% 😎
Love this song! Thanks for the tutorial. Like the shirt.
PERFECT.
One of RnR’s greatest riffs. I compare this one to slave. Both have their own unique grooves but still screams Rolling Stones
thanks for all of your great videos!
Cool great song from 70's
man they jus dont make music like that no more what a era. did you jus tune to standard jus like that sweet.
This song is so great the chordal riff is the equal to any single note riff of any song.
Nailed it again
Man, very enjoyable, you make it look really easy
Badass song. Sounds great!!!
amazing!
That could be the greatest guitar lick ever.
Amazing tune. Thanks man
Love it great job
wow! I can finally cover this based on your video! Thank you!!
That's STILL freekin awesome.
Hey man ...been watching for some time now and your style and play is cool...dig it. Appreciate the lessons too!

I too hate the lessons where the guy teaching acts like its the first time anyone has ever picked up a guitar.
Even your re-tuning was part of the song. Amazing.
Amazing playing sir!!#!
Awesome as always! Still need a lesson on the Mick Taylor solo but I might be able to get it with this video. I'll try.
just a reminder that you rock
Damn good!!!!!
