    I see there is no shortage of negative feedback on your review. I commend you for the effort of trying your best at giving the people a chance to see some potential facts between two products. Your time spent showing the results have helped me get a clear idea of what I may end up choosing for my truck. Merry Christmas and may You find wisdom and fortune in your future.

      🤦 the eBay intercooler flows much less. That's why mishimoto got the higher reading under no pressure (the blow drier flowed straight through). Another thing to consider is the temperatures under pressure will change based on restriction of flow. That's where the mishimoto intercooler will shine.

  • @bradleehill9662
    @bradleehill9662 4 года назад +10

    I applaud you for the attempt of trying to measure the air temperature. The biggest flaw is the flow rate the ebay as you call it seems to be more restricted then the mishimoto thus giving you a higher temperature reading. You must also take in the cubic feet per minute. Then compare temp. Plus cfm

    • @bradleehill9662
      @bradleehill9662 4 года назад +1

      I know that inlet is constant but outlet will be different. I do hvac and this is my cup of tea. So if you could get a tool that would measure air velocity. This would help the comparison. Plus you don't want to put 30psi into cooler and recieve 10psi cause its restricted. If you want super efficient go with tube in fin. Wagner makes awesome but super expensive

      @@bradleehill9662 I thought bar and plate was the better choice for A2A.and tube and fin being the better for W2A?

    • @bradleehill9662
      @bradleehill9662 3 года назад +2

      @@pointblank6 so efficiently speaking the tube and fin has more surface area, along with faster heat transfer over longer period of time and it does it consistently this is why factory race teams that do endurance style racing wrc layman's use these style of intercooler. This wasn't always the case but bar and plate is great for drag racing due to lots of solid material for heat transfer to occur during your short burst of power so each has a niche in the racing application scene. Alot of people don't quite understand efficiency properly, so for every one unit of measurement you put into your equipment you have that same unit of measurement in return this would be 100 percent efficiency. But if you put in 100,000 and get 90,000 in return that would be 90 percent right well tube and fin is like 90 percent and bar and plate is more like 50, but bar style flows more freely at this time unless you spend a couple thousand on intercooler alone i.e. no piping ect.... hope this helps trying to short hand alot here

    yes but does ebay channel the air as well creating less restriction/ lag than moshimoto. ebay does seem to have more surface area which can help explain the better cooling numbers

  • @timlowe1146

    Thing is your using 2 different intercoolers a bar plate and a tube and fin both have pros and cons you needed to test the Mishimoto tube and fin with this one or a eBay bar and plate with the Mishimoto. Ebay intercoolers I’ve found have bad pressure drops.

    • @OliverFetter
      @OliverFetter  3 года назад +2

      That's a good point! There are definitely other pros and cons to consider. I don't have the $$ to test a bunch of intercoolers - just what I had on hand.

  • @jacklloyd1980

    Also paint is an added layer of insulation on a material that's supposed to heat conductive. I wonder how the mishimoto would do without paint? Looks like it could be sanded off easily.

    • @OliverFetter
      @OliverFetter  3 года назад +1

      Hmm that's a good point. You would have to consider the inside surfaces as well and those wouldn't sand as easily (also I don't want to sand the paint off :D )

  • @kawaka600
    @kawaka600 4 года назад +3

    you did not standardise the way the air flows onto the thermometer; with the first cooler, you had it set up blowing directly onto the point of the probe, it was set up completely parallel and there was a noticeable gap between the point of the thermometer and the cooler. For the second cooler, you had the thermometer set up at an angle meaning there is more surface area exposed to accept the heat; the thermometer was positioned closer and almost inside the cooler. that's why you got a noticeable increase in the second cooler. try it again standardised and you'll get a different result guaranteed! good try though

    • @OliverFetter
      @OliverFetter  4 года назад

      Yo! That's an interesting point. It is a meat thermometer though, which is designed to check the temperature using the tip of the probe. In both trials the tip was in the same location, it shouldn't really matter where the rest is. If it worked like you are suggesting and I used it to cook, I would get underdone food depending on how I stuck it in..and I just don't think that's the case! I think there are shortcomings with the set up, like flow speed, air density, etc, but it is very possible the eBay cooler legitimately transfers heat better, and I don't think it's because the thermometers were placed 20 degrees differently.

    • @jerrybudde1343
      @jerrybudde1343 4 года назад

      @@OliverFetter You have a gap between the cold side and the thermometer on the cheap IC but you have the thermometer touching the metal inside the cold side on the mishimoto IC.

    The ebay does not Trump the mishimoto. Ebay ic's have absolutely terrible flow rates. Most mishimotos are 1250 cfm and up. The same style ebay ic except 4in core and a little taller I do believe was found to have 700cfm with a consistent curve of increasing pressure drop with every pound added to the inlet. More boost equals more restriction. Not a win at all. I'm pretty sure the higher the atmospheric pressure there is a diffrent rate of heat transfer that Occurs.

    Not valid Comparison, all this test is proving is tube and fin is more efficient then bar type intercooler, if you going run this test make sure you testing bar to bar type or tube and fin type, here the real dirty between both intercooler, tube and fin is more efficient is reducing heat, but cons to fin and tube intercooler is they have limited to how much boost you can run before it fails, bar type is least efficient at reducing heat but can handle higher boost pressure
