As a regular IKEA customer my go to is just some cake and coffee then on the way out grab 2 hot dogs with onions and mustard and ketchup JOB DONE Gary.

Another nailed on review mate. Have to say, the meatballs and the Daim cake are always the star of the show. Always get a hot dog as well, for the money they're great. You MUST try a Costco hot dog meal deal and pizza! Plus their absolutely magnificent mint choc chip gelato and also cherry gelato.
(56) We don't have one (that I know of) in Montana. And Lingonberry jam is an acquired taste, quite tart. The fish was a real bummer, poor thing was already dead. Didn't have to kill it again. Thanks for the upload, Gary. Hopefully the next eatery will be a real knockout!!!

for me the key to the lingonberry jam is to only take a tiny tiny bit with each bite along with the gravy, that way it comliments the rest but doesnt overpower it

Hi Gary, ive been loving the videos for a long time and very looking forward to the Whitby videos. We spend a lot of time in Whitby and theres some fab little cafes and restaurants that are well worth visiting for reviews. Our favourites are Magpie Cafe, Marie Antoinette's, Pizza West which my son and I think are better pizzas than in Italy and Abbey Wharf. Have a good trip and thankyou for the videos 👍

I absolutely love the IKEA meatballs, but I have them with chips. The red sauce is actually lingonberry jam. The other great eat there is the Gravadlax with the dill sauce.

@@GaryEatsI always used to thing they were fine for what they were: a dirt cheap snack at the end of a slog shopping trip. They were tasty enough rather than amazing. Same for the ice cream. Meatballs are always pretty good. Interesting also how the menu varies overseas. In Spain, I had a really nice meat on the bone thing with mash, since it was one of the few GF options there.
Ive had the meatballs at Ikea not for me but the lingonberry jam a bit different. Very good value. Very convenient if your shopping in one of their stores.

The UK's first IKEA store is in my hometown (Warrington) and was opened not long after I was born. I remember them having ball pools to keep the kids entertained while the parents shopped.
I was watching an episode of The Basil Brush Show years back and he was presented with a plate of peas. He said he didn't like peas and was told "Just give peas a chance man".
Excellent video as always!! Have had mediocre meals in IKEA when I visit, never really good but never really bad. Haven't visited for ages but seems like the prices have massively increased. I normally just go to the fast food place on the way out and get the hot dog instead. Always seems like you have to add plenty of seasoning or sauces to make some of the food palatable. I've only taken the salmon -excellent, especially the smoked salmon platter - which I don't believe they have anymore. I haven't been back for five years - at a 2.5 hour drive, and no longer needing anything in the showrooms (I'd moved houses back then), not driving back just for food.

Hello Gary. Having watched many of your videos, I have no doubt that the following apply. 1. Only buy fish and chips in a specialist fish and chip restaurant . 2 The best curries are served in curry houses. 3 Only eat the house specialism. Gary, while I agree the fish and chips was not the best it was affordable, and lots of people are happpy to eat it and not worry too much about the quality, being guided by the price. The meatballs looked quite good, and good value for the money. These are tough times for folks so if it's a treat for them I think we have to bow to peoples pockets, but a good review yet again, thank you.
I agree with that. Kids always like it at the Ikea food place, you know what you're getting, and it's cheap. It is what it is and if you catch them at the right time the food can be a lot better than that. The fish Gary had was probably stuck on the hot plate for an hour or two so was dry as a bone. Fair comment.

I've only taken the salmon -excellent, especially the smoked salmon platter - which I don't believe they have anymore. I haven't been back for five years - at a 2.5 hour drive, and no longer needing anything in the showrooms (I'd moved houses back then), not driving back just for food.

I dont go there much but have always found the quality and prices superb value . The salads were brilliant . and the puddings were top quality too.

Hello Gary. Having watched many of your videos, I have no doubt that the following apply. 1. Only buy fish and chips in a specialist fish and chip restaurant . 2 The best curries are served in curry houses. 3 Only eat the house specialism. I wonder what other Swedish dishes Ikea have on the menu. As always, excellent video.

Hi Gary we were there yesterday at the Wembley store ..had the meat balls mash and peas, ok for the money meatballs are good I always go home with a packet of them .

Gary, while I agree the fish and chips was not the best it was affordable, and lots of people are happpy to eat it and not worry too much about the quality, being guided by the price. The meatballs looked quite good, and good value for the money. These are tough times for folks so if it's a treat for them I think we have to bow to peoples pockets, but a good review yet again, thank you.

I agree with that. Kids always like it at the Ikea food place, you know what you're getting, and it's cheap. It is what it is and if you catch them at the right time the food can be a lot better than that. The fish Gary had was probably stuck on the hot plate for an hour or two so was dry as a bone. Fair comment.

The problem with Ikea meals is that there's always a couple of nuts missing so you can never finish your meal.

I don't know about the UK, but here in Canada, that red sauce with the meatballs would be lingonberry sauce/jam. They sell it by the jar in store.

Good evening Gary👍to be fair to them the price point was very good especially in the current financial climate. It was a shame about the Biriyani and fish but the meatballs and dime cake alone make it worth a visit. Low yet fair scores and another great review,cheers✌️

Thanks for the review Gary. I’d say all very processed food, but the meatballs are apparently legendary, although I’ve never had them. My grandchildren loved them and I think they sell them in tins in the shop. Spot on marking as usual ! 👍
