Maybe I've been watching too many historical fashion videos lately, but your description of yourself sounds very 1930s ideal. Lots of sleek, elegant, columnar fashion plates going on from that time frame. And they were starting to wear pants occasionally, so it's not only skirts and dresses, either.

this is ACTUALLY very helpful cause you didn’t generalised how each body should wear, but more on HOW what we want to achieve. Thank you so much for this !!! 💖
I love how this video wasn't insinuating that one cut is GOOD and others are BAD, or vice versa. Just objective: this will enhance and this will engulf for whatever your body type is. Love it and love you.
This was cool. After 2 years straight of wearing sweats, I'm kind of ready to revamp my wardrobe without going over the top. Casual but dressed you know.
MAN I AGREE WITH THIS SO MUCH ! 🙌🏻 The moment i learned how to dress for my body type, was also the moment i didnt feel the INSANE amount of pressure to lose weight anymore, and gained so much confidence after that 💓
I really liked this video. A lot of this type of videos can be kind of ‘telling you what to wear’. But with this video, she left it open. So you can express yourself with your own style while keeping these facts in mind. Nice job!
I love how you explain this so easily without relying on systems such as the fruit shape or the Kibbe body types. Just the cuts of clothes and the illusion they give. Perfect!
About the V hem: Try the "dutch tuck". It's the opposite of a "french tuck" and gives the same illusion. It has a very elongating effect on the silhouette (longer torso AND longer legs). How to do it: Start with a "full tuck", pinch the fabric of the shirt right above the waistband of your trousers/pants and gently pull the fabric up. Then fold it down to create a V shape. It takes a little bit of practice but this way you can create a V hem with pretty much every regular shirt. It helps if the shirt is long and has a loose fit.
I'm sorry, I can't find any pictures either. But with a french tuck you only tuck in the front of your shirt and with the dutch tuck you tuck in everything *except* for the front. So it's easier to tuck in everything first and then pull out as much of the front as you like. Depending on the length of your shirt part of the shirts hem will remain inside your waistband. I hope this helps. Just try it in front of a tall mirror with different shirts/trousers until you get the v shape right :)
Thank you for this, my mom (She is not a bad mother.), always tells me to lose weight which kind of doesn't make me feel comfortable in my body, and I cry about, I really appreciate this.
Im sorry that your mom says that...she shouldn't. Its unkind and not helpful. Helpful would be her helping you to understand health, nutrition and exercise and in a friendly way, encouraging you. Or better, joining you in your healthy eating and exercise routine...making it fun and a good way to spend time with each other. Best wishes to you. Be kind to your self and your body.
Thank you Kaiti for another video with such a great message! As cheesy as it may sound, everyone is beautiful in their own ways. We should always be comfortable in our own skin and to never compare ourselves with the "beauty standards" portrayed by social media these days ✨ Love yourself before others can love you 💖
Yesss i noticed the same thing with hems!! While a v-hem might be harder to come across, youll have better luck finding a more rounded, high low hem shirt that gives you the same illusion!
You can wear everything regardless of your outfit as long as you're confident that you will look with it ignoring the public's opinion. (Except if you're going to formal event please wear a proper attire xD)
I've been trying so hard to make myself a 'fashion portfolio' so I know what I like and what to buy and what fits and feels me and without these videos it would be CHAOS and pretty impossible so thank you.
I vote this becomes a seriesssssss in my experience wide leg pants give an hourglass effect as well, while elongating them. Because there is more weight at the base near your feet it makes the leg zone look like a triangle, so your waist looks slimmer. This makes them really flattering if you're trying to hide your hips or make a smaller waist. Pretty much they're almost universal!
Learning that i can pull off almost every style, as long as I stay aware of my body and recognize what lines, shapes and silhouettes work on me, has made me so much more confident 😁😊 Also to add to the pants: high waist also adds to the illusion of longer legs, combined with the wide leg 😜
the visual explanation to these tips was very well done! the first two are pretty obvious (slim if you wanna show, wide if you wanna hide), but the v hemline was new to me and quite an interesting effect. would be cool to see more along the lines of that!
Most videos categorise body shapes and give super ambiguous advice. This is spot on, and can be applied to REAL life outfits (clubbing, the office). Thank you so much again for such helpful content!
I would like to add some of my research down here. Those who have wide shoulders go for those tops in which the straps placed as far as possible from each other. It compliments your wide shoulders. Those who have narrow shoulders go for necklace type straps which gives more exposure to the shoulders. And shows off that your shoulders are wide. Will post a video on this. Thanks for the inspo girl. And good stuff Kaiti yoo ❤️✨
A v-hem recommendation I just discovered as a girl shaped like a rectangle! Any cute patterned scarves you have- fold in half, tie in back and you get a beautiful, strapless v-hem top with a super cute back! (Plus more mileage out of something you might already have or can easily thrift 😊)
It would be nice to talk about different body types. You look so lovely in everything, and tragically not all of us are blessed with that kind of shape. You're killing it though!
PLEASE make more content like this. I wore dresses only for a really long time, and once I transitioned into normal wear, I realized I had absolutely no idea how to dress myself. That being said, I've gotten a lot better, and I've definitely expanded my comfort zone- but more advice is _always_ appreciated.
I just realized this year that I look good on anything high waisted. I love that youtube recommended your video, I really need these tips, I'm working on my insecurities 🤧
I have a short torso, so high waisted pants make me look square and drowned by the fabric, because the area where my waist "cinches in" is very sharp and small, there's no place to see an "hourglass" figure when the waistband of my pants is filling it and making me look boxy, and also when I sit down, the waistband of my pants digs into my ribcage weirdly. So I usually wear midrise jeans, yep they're not as cute, nope, they're not trendy, but I don't look as boxy :/ I just finished the video and WOW I'M NOW INTRIGUED ABOUT THAT V HEM
Yes i noticed how awkward I really look using high waist when i have a short torso, the internet just told me that if you’re petite you should lengthen your legs but my legs are already too long for my body but I still do like my waist although it’s not as long since it is tiny so i just use high waist paints (only wide legged bc as she said how it gives an illusion of people not knowing where your legs begin and end it can actually give the illusion that you still have a longer torso) I put it in the middle of my belly button not way high up just right where you hips start to curve. So yes that’s my hack on wearing high waist jeans.
Thank you for being wholesome and informative. I would love to see more about this! For example: low waist vs. high waist pants and skirts, sleeves (you look amazing in the puff sleeves!) and necklines. We need to love our bodies and wear clothes that look good on us, regardless of fashion and sizing.
This was so helpful 🥺 I’ve been wanting to change up my style to be a bit more presentable or at least have more thought put into it, so this will be very helpful
This was SO helpful!!! As someone who has always thought she was just ugly, everything changes when you start dressing for your body type. I was really looking for a video like this, thank you ❤️
okay first of all, this video was so helpful I'd love to see more! but also, I think it could be really cool to do outfits for the MBTI dark/shadow sides. It's only a small part of MBTI personalities, but the shadow sides have a lot of depth and I can definitely see them making some really cool outfits!
I really love the overall message of this video, that each person should dress for their body type, but the specific advice you gave doesn’t apply to everyone. For myself, I avoid A-line and opt for bodycon/pencil skirt/sheath style silhouette because A-line makes me look wider and shorter than I really am. Check out the Kibbe system for finding your most flattering silhouette-it’s truly a game changer.
I just wanted to thank you for this. I just started a new job at a tractor dealership as a sales person. Before I worked in a mechanic shop wearing a men's uniform. It's been a real struggle to find flattering professional clothing and makes me feel good about myself. I'm 5ft tall and don't even weight 100 pounds. You explaining all of this helped me so much. Thank you!
Wait I was actually stressing out this week bc I bought a dress for an upcoming wedding and it didn’t look great on me. This video explained why my body was looking the way it did to me. Thanks so much Kaiti. This was so helpful!!
This was helpful! Another thing that could be an interesting expansion on this topic would be if you were to work with a friend/volunteer to help them find which silhouettes and styles are flattering on them specifically. I think it would be INSANELY helpful to be able to watch a video like that of someone with a similar body type to myself. Not sure if this is something you would consider or if others would find this kind of thing helpful 🤷♀️ I used to struggle like this a lot until I discovered some tricks to help with how short I am and then things were better for a while. However since having a baby now my body’s shape is completely different again and I am struggling with figuring out being both short and curvy.
i just wanted to say that just every single body is beautiful! and if you like it.. wear it!! even if it doesn't suit your "body type", YOU ARE STUNNING!
I found this very helpful! Would you ever consider collaborating with someone to do a video on how to dress for bustier women? I feel like a lot of trendy clothes require you to not wear a bra and for some of us that isn't an option (due to size or just comfort in general)
It's amazing how well you've analyzed and explained this content. this was really helpful!! love the humor tooo. we're totally on the same wave length. thanks girl for the advice!
Kaiti’s videos are like my morning coffee. Now I feel like I can start my day ❤️Also she was not lying about that V hem!! I bought a top like that a few weeks ago and when I tried it on I couldn’t figure out why it looked so good....Thanks to Kaiti, now I know 😂
Exactly, and an hourglass shape can wear anything well because they’re evenly proportioned. So many people get frustrated because they can’t wear what they wear. They don’t realize that they can wear something that looks great on them as well. They’re trying to wear something that flatters a different body type which leaves them frustrated. It’s a metaphor of life to be honest. People doing what’s best for other people instead of doing what’s works best for them.
i love this short yet effective video! it really helped me with what i’m insecure about and how i can hide that (because we’re all dealing with that sometimes). you should do colours next time because i struggle in finding what colours fit me… it affects my confidence when i go out. i think that would dramatically help me and many others a lot!
Tbh, this helped a lot, I figured out I look AMAZING in skirts and not dresses, and AMAZING in crop tops and baggy shirts and not in medium tight shirts. And I figured out my style from watching this! TYSM!!!!
If you feel good in your skin, you feel like you look good. If you are uncomfortable in your body, you will not feel like you look good. I haven't come around to liking my body again after my most recent pregnancy, and it doesn't seem to matter what the silhouette is, it's my attitude and how I feel in my skin that determines my attitude.
Love this! Fortifies my interest in wide leg pants. You’d think that wide leg pants would make someone with wide hips look even bigger but I think you’re right, I’m hoping it engulfs band makes my whole bottom half look uniform. Would love to see content on Kibbe types if you’re familiar, or more about hems and different lengths of bottoms for different shapes of folx. Thanks!
im short and i have quite wide hips which makes my legs thin on the bottom and very thick on top i found that wide pants make me look chubbier because it kinda hides the curve of my legs? i think height has some role on how wide pants look on you
Thank you for this video! A lot of videos I notice tend to focus on how to get an hour glass shape and puts down other body types. This video is straight to the point!
I agree we should be able to dress for our body type, but as much as everyone talks about that the only available clothes right now are designed for girls with smaller chests and all are revealing backless cropped halter tops. It's impossible to find something I'm comfortable in. I usually love summer fashion but this year's is by far the worst, I have never been more excited for fall (I usually hate fall fashion but it's the other way around this year) Hopefully fall will bring normal-length tops
Actually, when you store weight in your thighs, wide leg doesn't look good. At all. I never understood that advice. It only looks flowy and wide when you have thin thighs
Agree. I've got a pear shape body and its Hella unflattering. Plus it attracts too much unwanted attention to my hips. The only way it works if I lost 15 kilos..
This really helped thanks! I myself have a pear-shaped body and I'm still kinda struggling what suits me, especially pants. So if you could give any tips on a pear bodyshape that would be amazing!
@@courtneyw5240 thanks for the advise! Flare indeed looks good, I also wear a lot of wide leg jeans, but maybe straight jeans look better? High waist looks best I think, it's also a little more comfortable, in my opinion :)
Yes! I am a pear shape but my kibbe body shape is a soft classic. You can look into soft classic style recommendations for more info. But since understanding my my body and playing around with a few styles, these are some of the rules I live by: Mid to high waist for your bottoms always! I try to stay away from skinny jeans and jeans that are too baggy. I opt for flare jeans and Straight jeans that are fitted at the top or hip area. For dresses, jackets, and skirts, I always make sure there is waist definition. I stay away from shift dresses and go for more fit and flare styles. For the jackets, styles with belts are great or even fit and flare jackets work too. You can also do cropped length denim jacket or blazers I struggle with tops but I always make sure the length hips above my hips and no below These are just some basics that are helpful but always wear what makes you most comfortable and confident ❤️

Maybe I've been watching too many historical fashion videos lately, but your description of yourself sounds very 1930s ideal. Lots of sleek, elegant, columnar fashion plates going on from that time frame. And they were starting to wear pants occasionally, so it's not only skirts and dresses, either.

Reality shifting?
Overview:
Body-con dress- enhances your figure
A-line dress- alludes to your glass figure and gives you summer legs
Wide leg bottoms- engulfs and alludes to long and slim legs
Skinny leg bottoms- enhances
V-hem tops- draws attention to the center of waist and alludes to wider hips
Straight hem tops- normal and better for those with hips
thank you!
Hi, what are summer legs?
this is ACTUALLY very helpful cause you didn’t generalised how each body should wear, but more on HOW what we want to achieve.
Casual but dressed you know.
this is me
hey, I'm doing the same thing! you got this :)
MAN I AGREE WITH THIS SO MUCH ! 🙌🏻
The moment i learned how to dress for my body type, was also the moment i didnt feel the INSANE amount of pressure to lose weight anymore, and gained so much confidence after that 💓
This makes me so, so incredibly happy for you. KEEP GOINGGGG
same with me but for me it was gaining haha
@@gavin-corey-regels4784 thats nice too, so happy for both of us 🥰🥰 so nice to know you can still look good without changing yourself at all hehe
BTWW! the V-hem I think is referred to a “scarf hem” !!! I got more results with looking up that- at first I was just getting v necklines 😭
Perfect!
literally so true. dressing for your specific body type is super important. certain things are flattering on certain people.
EXACTLY.
Omg I need this desperately in my life! Any pictures/ videos as examples?
Yesss pls point to pics and examples
I'm sorry, I can't find any pictures either. But with a french tuck you only tuck in the front of your shirt and with the dutch tuck you tuck in everything *except* for the front. So it's easier to tuck in everything first and then pull out as much of the front as you like. Depending on the length of your shirt part of the shirts hem will remain inside your waistband. I hope this helps. Just try it in front of a tall mirror with different shirts/trousers until you get the v shape right :)
@@kimreni Hey can you link any video related to it?

Thank you for this, my mom (She is not a bad mother.), always tells me to lose weight which kind of doesn't make me feel comfortable in my body, and I cry about, I really appreciate this.
Im sorry that your mom says that...she shouldn't. Its unkind and not helpful. Helpful would be her helping you to understand health, nutrition and exercise and in a friendly way, encouraging you. Or better, joining you in your healthy eating and exercise routine...making it fun and a good way to spend time with each other. Best wishes to you. Be kind to your self and your body.
tell her that it makes you uncomfortable and ask why she is doing it. Communication is the key
As a fashion student this is really inspiring because I'm very much looking into a career in styling so this is great learning, thank you xx
I love how energetic you are! You definitely gave positive vibes while telling us about fashion.

(Except if you're going to formal event please wear a proper attire xD)
this is just NOT true. yes confidence is good but most people would feel better knowing that their clothes actually flatter them duh
@@airahli6581 i don't think you understand that if you have confidence, you'll obviously think your clothes flatter you lmao
If someone was confident, why would they click on this video
The confidence is bestest costume ever....when you dressed up with confidence it would be looking Fabulous

I vote this becomes a seriesssssss
in my experience wide leg pants give an hourglass effect as well, while elongating them. Because there is more weight at the base near your feet it makes the leg zone look like a triangle, so your waist looks slimmer. This makes them really flattering if you're trying to hide your hips or make a smaller waist. Pretty much they're almost universal!
The editing is always on point ✨😌❤️
Thank you 🥺
Righttt
yesss always killin it

Learning that i can pull off almost every style, as long as I stay aware of my body and recognize what lines, shapes and silhouettes work on me, has made me so much more confident 😁😊
Also to add to the pants: high waist also adds to the illusion of longer legs, combined with the wide leg 😜
the visual explanation to these tips was very well done! the first two are pretty obvious (slim if you wanna show, wide if you wanna hide), but the v hemline was new to me and quite an interesting effect. would be cool to see more along the lines of that!
We NEEED more of this! PLEASE!

Super helpful, especially with the comparisons
I have a short torso, so high waisted pants make me look square and drowned by the fabric, because the area where my waist "cinches in" is very sharp and small, there's no place to see an "hourglass" figure when the waistband of my pants is filling it and making me look boxy, and also when I sit down, the waistband of my pants digs into my ribcage weirdly.
So I usually wear midrise jeans, yep they're not as cute, nope, they're not trendy, but I don't look as boxy :/
I just finished the video and WOW I'M NOW INTRIGUED ABOUT THAT V HEM
Yes i noticed how awkward I really look using high waist when i have a short torso, the internet just told me that if you’re petite you should lengthen your legs but my legs are already too long for my body but I still do like my waist although it’s not as long since it is tiny so i just use high waist paints (only wide legged bc as she said how it gives an illusion of people not knowing where your legs begin and end it can actually give the illusion that you still have a longer torso) I put it in the middle of my belly button not way high up just right where you hips start to curve. So yes that’s my hack on wearing high waist jeans.
mid rise is the only that will hold. Forever. Trust me. They are the best
I do wonder how a v-hem would do on a short torso, I'm ready to experiment.
low rise baggy pants could look nice on u too!!

HEY BESTIE
I really love the overall message of this video, that each person should dress for their body type, but the specific advice you gave doesn’t apply to everyone. For myself, I avoid A-line and opt for bodycon/pencil skirt/sheath style silhouette because A-line makes me look wider and shorter than I really am.
Check out the Kibbe system for finding your most flattering silhouette-it’s truly a game changer.
Second that Kibbe system is really useful
I personally appreciate the pen you’re holding as a microphone it makes the video even spicier
you literally made every other person thinking sideways feel confident
I just wanted to thank you for this. I just started a new job at a tractor dealership as a sales person. Before I worked in a mechanic shop wearing a men's uniform. It's been a real struggle to find flattering professional clothing and makes me feel good about myself. I'm 5ft tall and don't even weight 100 pounds. You explaining all of this helped me so much. Thank you!
Regarding the tops with a V hemline, there are currently plenty of those in Zara. This could also be easily recreated with the bandana-top look ✨
thank you for the recommendation!! except navigating zara’s website makes me never want to shop there 😩
Wait I was actually stressing out this week bc I bought a dress for an upcoming wedding and it didn’t look great on me.
Not sure if this is something you would consider or if others would find this kind of thing helpful 🤷♀️
I used to struggle like this a lot until I discovered some tricks to help with how short I am and then things were better for a while. However since having a baby now my body’s shape is completely different again and I am struggling with figuring out being both short and curvy.
I love way you talk🌺
i just wanted to say that just every single body is beautiful! and if you like it.. wear it!! even if it doesn't suit your "body type", YOU ARE STUNNING!

Pls eat more! 🙁
you are beautiful please remember to eat correctly :( you don’t deserve to suffer
I found this very helpful! Would you ever consider collaborating with someone to do a video on how to dress for bustier women? I feel like a lot of trendy clothes require you to not wear a bra and for some of us that isn't an option (due to size or just comfort in general)
yess definitely would like you to analyze more silhouettes!! maybe in warmer / more layered clothing??
& great video loved it!^^💗
Why am I just finding this channel NOW??! Needed this in my life years ago
I bought a top like that a few weeks ago and when I tried it on I couldn’t figure out why it looked so good....Thanks to Kaiti, now I know 😂
RIGHT!? ITS LITERALLY MAGIC!?
One of my top tips for clients is buy clothes for how they fit your body, don't make your body fit random clothes in the store
Loves! That v lined hem shirt was absolutely everything on her with the orange bottoms! Yes love!
The editing amazes me, how you put yourself side by side is so cool!
I don't typically tolerate mind games, but I'll make one exception for the v-hem top. Damn! I would like one (or more) in my wardrobe asap.
i love this short yet effective video! it really helped me with what i’m insecure about and how i can hide that (because we’re all dealing with that sometimes). you should do colours next time because i struggle in finding what colours fit me… it affects my confidence when i go out. i think that would dramatically help me and many others a lot!
Hahahaha “ most of them” ✨Zendaya✨ (0:33)
Tbh, this helped a lot, I figured out I look AMAZING in skirts and not dresses, and AMAZING in crop tops and baggy shirts and not in medium tight shirts. And I figured out my style from watching this! TYSM!!!!
you're a QUEEN for this, as a fellow long torso girlie i am BEGGING you for more of this content
Thanks!
im short and i have quite wide hips which makes my legs thin on the bottom and very thick on top
i found that wide pants make me look chubbier because it kinda hides the curve of my legs?
i think height has some role on how wide pants look on you
Girl everything you're saying makes perfect sense BUT what do I do to my potato tummy 😭
I got thick thighs and I love a wide leg pant, having it hug your thigh then go loose on your calf is so cute
@@islagurney3272 wide leg pants means it's loose from your thighs/knees, not your calf.
Right. And I'm short. Which is annoying. Everything is built for tall people.
Bell bottoms can look good on thick thighs
I know you didn't ask me but, I am pear -shaped too. I believe mid- rise and some high-rise jean( skinny/ mom jeans / flare) look good on pear shaped.
@@courtneyw5240 thanks for the advise! Flare indeed looks good, I also wear a lot of wide leg jeans, but maybe straight jeans look better? High waist looks best I think, it's also a little more comfortable, in my opinion :)
@@Anna-gy4uc Your welcome, I think so too that high waist look better too.
Yes! I am a pear shape but my kibbe body shape is a soft classic. You can look into soft classic style recommendations for more info. But since understanding my my body and playing around with a few styles, these are some of the rules I live by:
Mid to high waist for your bottoms always!
You can also do cropped length denim jacket or blazers
I struggle with tops but I always make sure the length hips above my hips and no below
These are just some basics that are helpful but always wear what makes you most comfortable and confident ❤️
@@Miaalovesya Those are very good rules! You're right, it's indeed important to just feel comfortable and confident in your clothes :))
