You could probably replace the heels on the boots with clear plastic to create the illusion they're not there. It wouldn't be perfect, but it would be something.

    • @Bloodanna
      @Bloodanna 8 месяцев назад +1

You can also put mirroring on the heels/soles!
That is what was done to the Star Wars' "hover" vehicles in the original movies and it creates a decent illusion on shoes as well.
Especially if you tilt the mirroring a teeny tiny bit at the top so it is reflecting mostly flooring.

You can get down in jumping stilts a little bit more safely by taking a big long stride, then lowering your back leg onto your knees from that. If you are strong enough and flexible enough to do an even bigger stride (a split almost), you can get down without any impact.
Actually the reverse is how you can stand up without support, only that it is way harder to do.

I am thinking about making a demogorgon cosplay suit, and it'd be awesome if I could make it as much like the demogorgon from the movie (or my references, Dead by Daylight) using stilts! Problem is, I have to make sure which ones I need for this cosplay. If you reference from the DBD demogorgon, or the movie's, they have a very difficult digitigrade leg pattern, where the 'risen ankle' is elongated, much like a horse. And yet it still manages to keep a height. I might use jump stilts for this one..?

    1:17... Cool goat feet.
2:33, yes, I was thinking Spacemarines.
I'm interested that the Russian army once tried stilt spring boots for their soldiers.
Unfortunately, they couldn't get it to work.
I guess it's a lot harder than I realised before this video and another I just saw. Guy took an hour to learn to walk a short distance on the more digitigrade stilts.
3:06. Yes, they do look fun, and I have seen those before. I didn't realise how hard they were to use!
Could it not be possible to have this with a longer and or wider foot to make them easier?
    5:59, Oh! Thank you.

them. You should be careful of cheap versions the build quality isn't that great and I know many that have snapped also check the springs as you need the right strength for you weight ( or higher is your not bouncing ? )

Armoured Brownies if you do end up giving them a shot, tell me how it turns out! I want to see how well they work out! The main thing about the ones that he made don't have that bulky and offsetting round spring at the back like your two versions, so that means it would be much easier to hide the, inside of your costume and be much more convincing, but would it ruin the structural integrity or the bounce you get from the true ones? No idea, but holy crap it would be an adventure to figure out!

Fair :) Got to work to a budget. Have been looking at that style for a while - even considering trying to make something similar - just never have the time :(

ChaosCostumes makes a wooden type that work well. I got a discounted version at a trade show. They're fun, but I have got to do leg work to build up my thighs!

Is there any kind of hybrid pogi stilts that allow you to stand still with a firm stance while being very stable?

One way is if you can incorporate a staff into your costume. The staff provides a third point of balance, so you can use it to stand still. If you're handy, you might try (securely!) attaching broader feet over/in place of the "hooves" of the jump stilts, though that would probably impede the jumping and agility.

When I do my king jareth cosplay, I could just cheat on my stilts and make a giant cane like he carries lolol. Oooh and I could wear my knee pads from roller skating underneath my costume…
