  • VW 040 DP head chamber work we do and share with,
    this is for either a 1679cc project or a 1776 powerplant

    We discuss the goal and reasons to the shape we are shooting for
    the texture finish as it helps isolate the head from the combustion heat
    that makes it easier to tune and will be responsive to tuning changes
    Do let us know if you suggest us to do a 1679 or 1776 for my Bug
    Our page is active as we post almost daily stuff we do at the shop check it at

    I would go with 90.5 I am Bulding a 1914cc engine with 94 mm and I have a 044 old stock cb heads I bought 15 years ago still needs porting and polishing

      That’s a possibility… it’s just I remember my old 1679 beat a local 1776 so I’m not always worried about displacement 🤣

    Sir, what do think if b18cr head bore the combustion chamber to 86mm same size with piston 86mm for b20 block. Is it any benefit from it? Ofcoz it will drop the compression right? Or any advantage for doing it

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  4 месяца назад +2

      No need cuz if u look at the chamber the valve seat has extension to the chamber to guide flow so removing that makes everything else junk
      and how about GSR heads? They never get chamber bored doesn’t mean they flow bad
      So the question is why do it

      @@SRDmotorsportsmaybe people want to make the size of gasket matching with size of piston bore? Or maybe it can make tuner to do more advance timing since it will improve the cooling efficiency of the engine?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  4 месяца назад +2

      yeah depends on the builder and tuner preference just too much deshrouding also makes for a bad discharge coefficient

    How important is it that each chamber is the same?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  3 месяца назад +2

      Yes definitely… that’s a must… I will cc’ the chambers when the build happens as it would depend if it’s gonna be fly cut for an 88 thick wall or a 90.5mm piston/cylinder 😎
      So it is very important actually
