What an excellent video Julia!!!! I know when I got my most recent pigs ( 2 rescue boys) I used a lot of these tips because they were fighting and it helped a lot! You covered every tip I found very well! Awesome advice 😀😀😀
Brina Hendry Guinea pigs are social animals. So it's better have to 2 at least (and the space needed isn't that much more.) If you end up getting a second one, you should name him Chicken... Then you'll have Chicken and Dumplings 😂😂😂
Tiny Adventures Mine really doesnt get lonley, all he does is sleep and eat and thats because he is 10 years old, after he dies if he dies any time soon I might adopt 2 more
Omg thank gosh I watch this channel!!! I've never introduced a guinea pig to other but I just got a new baby pigger to introduce to my two other piggers I've had for a year now. One of the piggers was teeth chattering and chasing the new one and I was very scared at first but after this vid I feel better about it. Thx!!!😁
I've just separated my boy's as one was constantly harassing the other who is poorly at the moment. Not any easy choice but the cages they're in are next to one another so they can still see each other.
Wow this helped a lot! 😊 I have three guinea pigs and they would always fight so I decided to split them all up but when I reintroduce them and did some of the things u said they are getting along better
Had a pretty decent sized cage for my two male piggies. Introduction was possibly the easiest I’ve ever done after a few hours of being near each other I saw they hit it off so put them together and they loved each other since no chattering nothing. One thing I did do wrong was that I only had 1 igloo for them... the funny thing though they were impossible to separate even after I got a second one they always go into the same igloo and snuggled even with a second one. When one was getting nails clipped or cage was cleaned they’d WHEEEEEK so damn loud lol they were the funniest little pals. Miss them but luckily before I gave them up I made sure the home they went to took them as a pair and still get to see them every few months or so :)
I have 8 guineas however they live out there in my garden wild and do not like being stroked or picked up but I managed to tame 1 guinea pig and trained it to jump on my lap with food
Thank you so much! I have had some issues with 2 pairs being together, And I think it's because of not enough space. Thank you for making this video, i will reintroduce when I make a bigger cage.
Thank you for this, my two boys moved indoors a few weeks ago cause we’re now in minus temperatures and today is the first time I’ve seen the dominant one (Ozzy) chasing the less dominant one (Rolo) and I’ve never heard Rolo squeak so much and so loud I was honestly starting to get stressed out. I made a wall midway through the hutch to separate them but Ozzy jumped over it and proceeded to chase after Rolo while trying to hump him. I put guinea pig relaxing music for them and it didn’t work but seeing this video totally helped me to take a step back and let them figure it out. Hopefully they will have resolved their issue by morning but I’m glad to see that this is normal behaviour that happens once a month or so and if so I’m sure they’ve had good practice over the past 6 months living outside in how to sort this out
1:51 can I just point out how adorable it is that Little One and Pebbles lied down at the same time Also, awesome video Julia, it must have been difficult to edit Pebbles and Wilma into this I’m sure they’re eating as many pea flakes as they want in piggy heaven :)
Same. And they have a whole room dedicated to them and i buy them new toys and hide outs every paycheck. And they still bullied my older dom one and took a piece of his ear.... he had to stay with me in my room till i got his health up...
My guinea pigs fight badly everyday without having them separated. I think I have about a 3ft by 2 ft cage and I may be able to make a slightly bigger c&c cage if that is necessary. I have also been considering making a RUclips account about them. Just wondering if you can give any advice
Getting a bigger cage is definitely a good idea. For 2 guinea pigs, preferably more than 7.5 square feet. I think the youtube channel is a good idea! Sorry the reply is so late, hopefully it's still helpful!
Maybe separate them for a couple days then put them back in with each other in a brand new cage with a whole new setup, most likely they will be happy to see each other again
Mines free roam and theres plenty of space and they still fight until the point where one of them bit the other one was bleeding and left him a scar around his nose.... Also he chatters his teeth like i bet he cant even see him on paint thats how much they cant see each other either..... But why????
Our bonded boys broke up after a year and a half together. Something happened that caused one to get bitten 3 times and the other was bitten on his neck. They are separated but our setup allows them to see, talk, smell and hang out together. Both recovered very well after their vet visit.
I Really needed this, back in 2015 my guinea pig had 2 kids and one of them was called Lucy, she was absolute violent with her mom and her sister she never let any other piggie get close to her lol, this year the mom died after 8 long years and her sister too and it's just her now and we decided to get another Guinea pig and she cant get along with her either so I'm trying my best
My two boys fight all the time. They have 2 Midwest cages, two hidies, two hay towers, two water bottles, and they still go at it. One of my boys is a bully and bites chunks of fur out of the other one. It breaks my heart.
Yes I have two girl guinea pigs the one that I first bought she's just so mean in the second one is just so nice but the first one just tears up the second one that I got and I do not know how to stop it
At a certain point u gotta just separate for at least a while, then consider neutering if it’s the only remaining option. Hope things are better by now though for your boys 🤞
My guinea pigs won’t stop fighting I have two in a five foot two hides two bowls two water bottles two things of hay we buy them so many toys and treats every morning they get veggies and fruit yet now one of them is scared of the other
I have a pair of sisters, a trio of boys, and 2 boys side by side because they are both very territorial and will bite other piggies and make them bleed.....I have tried bigger cage, more hides, tunnels, beds, etc. but nothing works! They just prefer to be solo piggies I guess!
We've had our boy guinea pigs for about 6 weeks now (they were babies when we got them), and they've gotten along fine until this evening. They've been following each other around a lot, mounting, making a sound different than their normal rumble strut, they've attacked each other a few times but after a while they leave each other alone. We separated them for a short time but they were losing it wheeking and pushing their stuff around and what seemed like they were looking for each other. They seemed really distressed so we put them back together but the same thing. At what point should I be concerned (not that I'm not already 😅) Any advice is appreciated!
I got a rescue guinea pig yesterday and it attacked them so many times that there were marks blood and tufts of hair. I think It is best to take her back and see if I can find a better fit. My other 3 were so scared of her that they wouldn't go anywhere near her (not even within 1 foot) and if they did she attacked.
I'm trying so hard to follow this advice with my 3 boars (3.5 yrs., + 2@7 months). One of my recent adoptees viciously attacks his brother and the 3.5 year old, 12-15 times per day, to the point where I'm tending to bleeding wounds.
Thanks for the great video! I just got 2 girl guinea pigs and they started out fighting so I had to separate them. But now I think 🤔 I need to follow your tips instead! 😁 thanks
Hello I have a 1 year and 7 months old male guinea pig. He used to have a cage mate the same age as him but passed away around March. When that happened we got another guinea pig, he was obviously 2 months when we got him but they bonded right away. The little one would rely on the oldest one a lot, like a father to put it that way. After like 5 weeks the little one got a UTI and I had to separate them for like 1-2 weeks until he got better, I didn’t want my older one to get an infection too since it’s contagious. During those two weeks I did have both of there cages right next to each other so they were still able to see each other and everyday they would wheek for each other. When I reintroduced them they were a bit iffy but got over it in 2 hours under supervision. They were alright with each other not the same as before but still bonded. After 2 months of reintroduction the little one started getting a little aggressive and wanted to start mounting the oldest. Obviously it’s because he has hit puberty, and the oldest knows that so he’s been patient with him and hasn’t shown no sign of aggression. It’s been two weeks and the little ones aggression has worsened. He’s bitten the older one, he’s pulled hair, grazed him with his teeth that left him with bruising, scrape marks from teeth. The oldest got fed up and bit him on both sides of the cheeks and after that he calmed down a bit. After we came back from a one day trip, the oldest one had a graze mark on his thigh. We’ve bought toys and a new edible house for them but they are still iffy with each other. What should I do? I have 4 guinea pigs already.
Thanks for this. I have worried sometimes that one of my guinea pigs was bullying the other, but from your description, what they do sounds like normal guinea pig behavior. I'll try and use these tips as well, just in case.
I need help. I have two male pigs and one keeps climbing on top of the other. The other really hates it and they keep chasing each other. Today, they kept biting and I had to separate them. Help? Please
I have four guinea pigs (2 set of bonded guinea pigs) 2 of my younger guinea oigs are in a pen together and grew up together ( we got them from an old lady who had pregnant guinea pigs) but my free range guinea pigs go up to the wire alot , and one of my baby guinea pigs really likes them where as the other baby hates them , they have got out a few times and have all gotten in a fight (no one was seriously injured, just a few bites) so I've separated it so they are let out in the garden at different times but now my two babies are fighting
One of my guinea pigs is bullying the other, they got a massive hutch but since it’s cold I brought them inside my cage is store bought but compare to other cages my cage is pretty big (ofc not big enough for always keeping them ) the cage is temporary but I also knew one of my piles bulies the other but it happend way more inside now and I’m guessing cuz it’s smaller than the hutch and it’s a new home but my guinea pig alice(who gets bullied) gets nibbled and screams a lot and gets traumatised so whenever I’m petting or picking her up she screams until she realises she is safe and it’s not my other guinea pig
My guinea pigs are sisters and they just kind of put their noses up and boop each other in sync and make noises I thought they were being mean but I was just paranoid I gave them a little alone time and gave the ‘beta’ some snuggles and attention and then the ‘alpha me some love and then they were fine I think they just needed some time apart
My Guinea pigs just met for the first time, at like 12am, so I didn’t have enough time to let them fight and watch them to make sure its not serious. They’re separated at the moment, but I will try again tomorrow.
How long should you give guinea pigs to bound if one wont submit and the other is aggressive? I also have a suspicion the cage may not have been big enough. I have a sow and just got a neutered boar.
I got one gui ea pig in april but shortly after i realized that he needs a brother. im just kinda scared. thanks for making this video it helped me so much!!
I have four piggies now. I got 2, sisters. They love each other and get along swimmingly. Then I introduced a new piggy. (Bella) Luna (one of the sisters) has always been horrible to Bella, blocking food and water supplies, chasing, teeth chattering and even scratched her once and she bled. I tried and tried to play it out but I’ve decided to separate them. Then I got Bella a new friend, Minerva. She is tiny, 12 week old skinny fluffy baby. I thought at first the bonding was going well. Bella is clearly trying to be dominant piggy by chasing and nipping at Minerva who always high squeals very loudly... They’ve been in their cage together for just over 24hrs but Bella is still nearly constantly chasing and nipping at Minerva who is still wheeking loudly. Once Minerva has moved away Bella leaves her alone. They’ve both eaten next to each other. I don’t know whether to split them up or not. The new piggy is so small and skinny it’s hard to tell if she’s lost any weight. I haven’t seen her drink yet so I’ve been wetting the veg so she stays hydrated. No blood between Minerva and Bella has been drawn but she’s just so tiny I’m worried Bella will injure her unintentionally. Advice welcome!! Idk what to do!
My boys sometimes have like 7 hideys, because they're cage is so big and the fleece is hard to clean but I clean it and there are only 2 piggies in the cage Domino and Butter Cup, and they are my only piggies and I have so much extra time that I have a hamster named Ginger.
I had to pull one out because one of them was bullying longer than usual. It usally last 2 minutes but It was going like 15 so decided to pull one out. Now if I live alone I might have a space that's bigger for 2 than the cage we have now.
One of my guinea pig bites fur off his siblings and parents except for his mom but that guinea pig is a boy!!!! Everytime he sees any guinea pig other than his mom, he will start making that angry sound and bite into the fur of the guinea pig and make them sqeak real loud....Help!!!
I separated my new baby guinea pig when she was introduced to the adult female of the house. She was over affectionate towards the new baby who was at the time adjusting to the new environment which caused them to fight. I separated them into separated cages at night and slowly reintroduced them back together during the the day. After a short while the adult female eased off which allowed the baby to get comfortable around her and this ultimately lead to them having a long lasting friendship with one another :)
Definitely have a huge cage 11×10 × 5 . Have a ? How many babies does a pair normally have . Heard they can have up to 5 pup's IDK first time breeder . I like your playpen cage & especially the piggies . Thank you for all the helpful vids & info 🤔💯cheers 👌😎

I have twins and they hate each other so much one even one of them had a bad eye cuz of her twin and then I have other twins and they love each other so so so so so so so much
my two guinea pigs have been with each other since they were born. they’re always fighting (pulling fur) i sometimes see blood on their bodies and separate them. they have their own cages but during the day i put them in the same cage. they can’t get along. and i don’t know what to do abt it. i’m always watching videos on how i can help them get along and they all say the same stuff.
I just got home today and I walked over to my guinea pigs and one of my guinea pigs mouths was well .... dislocated a little bit and I don’t know what to do I need some help ....

AHHH Thank you soooo much for all the Guinea Pig tips. Because of you we are going to get one. We’re naming him Dumpling
Brina Hendry Guinea pigs are social animals. So it's better have to 2 at least (and the space needed isn't that much more.)
If you end up getting a second one, you should name him Chicken... Then you'll have Chicken and Dumplings 😂😂😂
You have to get 2 because they get lonely
Tiny Adventures Mine really doesnt get lonley, all he does is sleep and eat and thats because he is 10 years old, after he dies if he dies any time soon I might adopt 2 more

Luna (one of the sisters) has always been horrible to Bella, blocking food and water supplies, chasing, teeth chattering and even scratched her once and she bled.
Your awesome Julia!
Thank you so much!
Best RUclips Channel on earth!
I love all your piggies they are so gorgeous!
Thanks once again!
So I was wondering if c&c cages are good cages for two guinea pigs also do you have any tips on free roaming
aww i got a guinea pig today and so did my brother
I separated my new baby guinea pig when she was introduced to the adult female of the house. She was over affectionate towards the new baby who was at the time adjusting to the new environment which caused them to fight. I separated them into separated cages at night and slowly reintroduced them back together during the the day. After a short while the adult female eased off which allowed the baby to get comfortable around her and this ultimately lead to them having a long lasting friendship with one another :)
For mine it was the opposite, my older one was aggravated by the baby's affection😑
@@indiaariel2u hehe, silly things x
