    In this video Rick Shiels PGA Golf Professional heads out to The Marriott Worsley Park Golf & Country Club to review the brand new TaylorMade Golf Truss putter.
    TaylorMade Golf are well known for their drivers and irons but in recent years have really focused on their putters and have players on The PGA Tour & The European Tour using their putters. Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson, Jason Day & Rory McIlroy have all used TaylorMade Golf putters.
    In this video Rick Shiels will give you his opinion on the putter!

      I think the truss putter fails for you because 1) left hand low and 2) the ball needs to be closer to your lead leg/foot than dead center, maybe only an inch, but not dead center.

    I watched this video a couple of weeks ago and kinda dismissed this putter. Went to the golf store today looking for a new putter. After rolling some other brands, I picked up the Truss TB2 centershaft. It rolled the ball straighter and better with this putter than any other there. Loved the sound and feel, and the grip fit my hand perfectly. It went where I pointed it. It may not be for everyone, but for my stroke, it was the best of the bunch. Walked out of the store with it. I type all of this to say don’t judge a product by a video review alone. Rick didn’t like them so much, but for me, it seems perfect. 👍

    Been playing my Truss TB1 a while now and I love it. Never mind the PR bs, I like how you stand with your eyes directly over the sight line and how the weighting is positioned in the head. Got it in a super deal so can’t complain about that, and probably will not change it for a while!

  • @hughivphotography1733
    @hughivphotography1733 2 года назад +3

    I just purchased the TB1 and the one thing I noticed is the actual shaft ends in the center of the putter vs closer to the edge. I think this is the major improvement in my game. I don’t like center shaft putters but this doesn’t look or feel like one but performance is definitely better than my edge shafted mallet I was using. The weight adjustments are huge bonuses too.

    From player perspective, the truss design being more to the heal would be for those players with a arc movement back and thru where the other designs would be for a back and forward putter. The new design is interesting and curious how much they will help lower that putting avg.

      This is a fantastic putter. Ball stays on line with great feel. It's a little bit firmer than your softer milled putters, but it does instill confidence. The look is actually pretty when every 299 blade putter looks exactly the same. They all do it. Scotty, TM, Odyssey and there never ending face inserts. This is actually one of the better putters I have used and haven't got bored with. It's simple. Blade looking putter with higher MOI for miss hits. Beaut.

    Recently putted for an hour in a local golf shop, switching between my odysee white ice blade from maybe 10 years or more ago, and the truss TM1 and TM2. TM2 center shafts felt completely closed at address, which is why I liked the TM1. Due to the more heel shaft and arc type strike. But Honestly, the TM1 felt way more stable than my odysee blade. When the new model putter comes out in 2021, I will probably purchase the TM1 2020 model for less. If you dont hit it yourself, youll never know for yourself. Id say the Truss definitely helps stabilize through mishits.

    "It feels like you're drilling a ball into the ground" HAHAHA I don't know about the rest of you, but probably not what I'm looking for in a putter. To be honest, when a brand makes unfounded, untruthful comments, it makes it hard to believe many of the things they say. I like the brand, honestly, I do. However, coming out with a driver that is very similar to the driver to beat in 2019 and calling it groundbreaking. I don't like that. Buying Adams technology (Velocity slot tech) using it, and calling it a revolutionary design. I don't like that. The brand can stand on its own without the untruthfulness. Someone needs to get to the marketing department and help them out. I once heard a politician use the words "alternative facts" in describing their own personal views of the facts. I laughed at the very mention of such a word, but apparently that phase isn't reserved for just the political area.

Yes they probably took a little tech from them and changed it but the m6 driver had the same low back CG placement but it was called the “inertia generator.” Definitely not a TM sympathizer bc they don’t need one. And My Nike VR LTd was the first club I remember with any sort of slot or channel in the sole.

      @@justgettinby8260 It's not about the "stealing." It's about calling it "groundbreaking." How can it be called groundbreaking when it was already done before? Then that would go for every single major OEM. alec ordway I mean the hosel flexing and/or twisting. Those are the only things increasing structural rigidity at that location of the putter could impact. I am not saying it makes putting any easier, but I really do like the design. I have a typical blade putter, but I just hate how it looks. It gives me the feeling, looking at it, like it's not going to be able to control the ball well... It literally looks like a piece of lead on the end of a stick. I have a gold/bronze coloured one.... which looks like a turd on a stick.

    Love Taylormade normally, I have a spider mini x and I love it... my type of putter.
    and these new ones do nothing for me... and the price is BAD!!!!!
    Good review, rubbish putter.

      Agree over time I've slowly moved away from then...where one point in life all 14 clubs were taylormade and now j have a spider tour and that's it...the rest is titleist irons, cleveland wedges and a titleist hybrid and just got the ping g410 driver...I just really lost interest in them and it was causs of stuff like this

      Rob Milligan coming from a fitter you’re so wrong. Taylormade is probably the brand I most equate with looking like top quality. Cleveland sure isn’t, callaway gets really weird looking stuff out sometimes, but Titleist is quality looking too so hey it’s personal preference.

    I think Rick may have missed a trick here. The TB2 is supposed to be square back and through and create stability. It is offputting visually..but it does work. Would I use one? Probably not, I would buy a center shafted mallet putter if I wanted that feel...and for what its worth..those first 3 putts that missed, the face was pointed miles right of target.

      Also watched that video before watching this one, so I am a bit confused as to why Rick would say it doesn't work when the numbers don't lie. Then again, golf isn't always a numbers game and more about mentality and feel.

    • @wabbrenton

      While I think being a little skeptical about marking is fine... It just sounds like he's putting half effort into his new reviews. We can try to justify that numbers aren't everything, but numbers also don't lie. Especially when see them in a relatively scientific fashion with TXG.

    Rick; once again brilliant video. To be honest, putter technology has its limits. Just take Adam Scott who tried everything to be a better putter, different designs and different shaft lengths and still mediocre at best. Now Tiger Woods for example stays with the blade putter and I would bet my house on him making a putt if I had one lol. Another honest and open review. Thanks. All the best Pete

    A putter is a lump of metal with 4 degrees of loft and stick stuck in it. The idea that one lump of metal is better than another lump of metal is a bit silly. £269? They are taking the piss.

    • @Superutubeking
      @Superutubeking 4 года назад

      Hairy Golfer well the putter has a lot of technology in it. Endorsements by top players who are sponsored. Marketing. Clever design and materials. One great putter will probably last you 10 years. When you work it out thats £27 per year for your putter. So not that bad

    • @thehairygolfer
      @thehairygolfer 4 года назад

      @@Superutubeking I'm always cautious when people say a lump of forged or cast metal has technology in it. It's got some weights to perhaps improve stability on off centre strikes but it is still a lump of metal with a face 4 degrees off vertical and a stick stuck in it. I bought my putter in 1990. When I miss it's my eyes or my stroke and an expensive putter will not improve either of those things.

I have some ugly putters that I have bought before like D-mallet, grooved face and I bought them becouse I felt they worked (and still do). Tress makes perfect science to me. Ill try the ugly one you first tried as it makes the the most sense to my. As always, you give great insight.

    Take it from a guy who has been playing golf for over 50 years and has owned more putters than the hairs on Rick's head (not counting the ones under his hat, if any). In putting, the degree to which each factor affects your putts breaks down like this: 8% putter, 10% green, 82% golfer, give or take a notch. BTW, Dustin Johnson just won the Traveler's Championship with a TaylorMade Truss TB1 in his bag. But then, they pay him handsomely to use their clubs; so he does. And speaking of handsome, do subscribe to Rick's channel.
