- Hello Again and in todays video we are giving the posh job a mini renovation to remove a build up of thatch that has accumulated over the last 8 weeks. First of all we get the weibang scarifier out and give it two passes and two cuts to pick up the debris then go on with our usual products, In 2 weeks this lawn will look as good as it did in the late spring.

Couple of weeks ago I did a light scarify with a garden rake (couldnt be bothered to get the cheap scarifier out and I only have a small lawn (100m2). Applied some lawn feed and with the rain it has come up quite nicely. It was your last video at this job that made me decide to do it and sure enough it pulled up a fair bit of thatch allowing the mower to trim it back. Definately worthwhile doing.
i love the sound of a petrol hayter lawn mower
my lawn was seeded 20+ years ago with some cheap mix and has patches of grass that looks like a mini forest lol, a long thin vertical stem with a bush of grass at the very top.
ive been overseeding bit by bit with barenbrug rpr and i hope it will take over the lawn.
Looking really good Daniel and the audio quality/levels on this is really good too.
united will be looking for a new manager in a few weeks, may want to prepare your application and clear your schedule!
Really enjoyed watching your video 💚 very satisfying to watch 👍🏼 you've done a great job ✌🏼👋🏼
Hi Dan, couple of questions.
Is this time of year ok to over seed? Want to rejuvenate my nana's lawn for her.
What type of weed killer do you use to kill off existing lawn to start fresh again? Have a house I'm renovating and want to prepare for next year transformation.
Thanks!
At 2:24 the wheel tracks make the lawn look like its embossed or corrugated at 2 different heights.. trippy!
Hi Daniel do you have any videos where you talk about the different types of grass seeds the pros and cons?
@@Guyana602309 i dont mate
Would love to jet wash the wall would top the whole look of it off
Do you think rye grass seeding is best? Also what is reason for cutting lenght ways and width ways? Thank you
Yes i do think that and for effect and cut twice get bits you missed
You make doing the double or triple wide stripes look so easy - can you talk through how to judge it and line things up at some point
@@jamieosh70 just guess the width dont forget i been cutting grass 30 years
What I do is I just guess the width of the first stripe then each line after that gets measured by the lawnmower because your going over the stripe you done B4 !!
Storm Lillian, you know a storm going to wreak havoc before it strikes because its named after a women😁

Dan I’ve got a lawn that got tonnes of horizontal growth over the years causing a spongy lawn . If I scalp it to reset will it recover in time with a bit of feed at this time of year. Not looking to overseed it but more just get it down in height.
@@MrMattrowland it might do it might not depends how much damage is done to the plant, you will see results of this one Friday but ive had two weeks of decent weather to aid where as your starting now with the ambient temp getting cooler every week that passes
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert cheers pal, gonna go for it, conditions looking favourable and the lawn has good density so I expect it will come back nicely
Another cracking job Dan, I’ve got a red thread problem in my lawn Dan and I was wondering what my options are, I read that a high nitrogen feed knocks it back a bit so I used your equilibrium, if I scarify do I risk spreading it about the lawn
@@19davidwinter88 some telling me dans summer secret knocking it right back
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert might have to give it ago Dan, did you know that it would be good against disease or is it just feedback off customers? Am I ok to mow still or should I hold off for now?
Is now a good time to overseed?
Great order processing and delivery on equilibrium order I put on the other day - literally came the next day.
Its not always like that, its just quiet in the 6 weeks hol as everyones away
I’ve just subbed as I love the way you go about things lol. Also I’m brand new to this. As I’ve said before on other vids just moved to a property with a big lawn like the one in this vid. But it’s full of clovers etc. I did put some weed killer down a few weeks ago. At what point should I consider scarifying and seeding etc thanks for any help
Well weed killer takes 8-12 weeks
to degrade to point that you can seed but you could deffo scarify still
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert so would it be worth scarifying now to try to get rid of the moss and weeds etc ??
Everytime I scarify the lawn looks a lot shorter is it me lol
@@robpullen yeah as the weedkiller will be in the system then when mid september hits maybe think about seeding
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert awesome. Thank you.
Which of the feeds do you think were responsible for the hydrangea boost? I only ask as I have hydrangea too and a couple of trachycarpus which may get the odd rogue summer granular. Id hate for it to do something not so nice to the trachycarpus as they aint cheap
@@Stormin_Mike will be the granular ferts i put on
I’m going to level my lawn with 70/30 sand mix but as I’m going to do an autumn scarification too do I still need compost to mix with seeds?
@@markscott9760 no dont mix in the compost
Do I still have time this year to scarify, topdress and seed if I lay some frost cover? Won't be for 3 weeks tho.
Yes deffo, i once seeded n covered in october
Do you get many squirrels digging holes? They are here digging holes everyday here. It's too late in the year to seed fescue / bent so they need to go.

Great video as always. Can you give me a little adviss please, i have killed off the lawn removed all grass by rotavating and ordered 1 tonne of top soil. Got it delivered and started to spread it put too level the lawn. The soil that was advertised as grade A basically had a lot of gravel size stones. Now Im very worried it has ruined all the work i have done and now not sure what best to do. Shall i proceed with applying the rye extreme seed ?
Not sure without seeing it
@DanielHibbertLawnExpert thanks for replying I will upload a video tomorrow showing it if that is ok. Thank you for taking the time to read my comment.
@DanielHibbertLawnExpert hello Daniel I have uploaded a short video on the condition of the soil. ruclips.net/user/shortsqo8msGnAvcQ?si=8TpSyKFcGk31s94K
What depth did you set the sacrifice at Daniel? It looked quite night barely touching ground would that be right?
Yeah it wasnt deep at all unsure of how deep but certainly didnt enter the soil only on high spots probably
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Thanks. Just got myself a scarifier to try and help improve quality of a few small lawns. Have some overseeing to do and will likely just try and break into the surface.
where can we buy these products Daniel?
@@PaulMarshall-l6g on my website link in description
I really do not understand scarifying, I did it to my lawn in spring before doing an overseed and it basically ruined my lawn. Removed like 60% of the grass and was just left bare as hell… even after over seeding its never recovered how it was before. Yet on this channel I see Daniel de-thatching every day for a week and the lawn still looks thick…. Like am i missing something?
Evatt out
I thought you didn't believe in scarification?
Aeration
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert AHH yeah, watching too many different channels!! My bad.
Daniel...you put a shed load of products in your tank.......if I were to buy the products from you and my lawn is probably bigger than the lawn shown......how much would this application cost me?.......appreciate it looks fantastic so understand it wouldn't be cheap.....as always...love your videos and your lawns look the best....
@@paulcroker8459 yeah appreciate what your saying but your lawn size isnt my problem its like going to tesco saying ive got 10 kids it expensive all this food for 10 kids, they will just look at you and say its not tescos problem the goods are the goods and you should of thought about the cost of 10 kids before you had them, so same for you when you got a house with a big lawn you should of thought its gunna be expensive to feed this.
What condition is your lawn currently in? Don't forget that these products are for a next-level lawn. You should be first to create the foundation.
@@Pans0r this lawn was pants when i took it over, the products are for any lawn
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpertI need to remember this analogy for my customers. I get this all the time on large lawns.
How much!
