I over seeded and top dressed 2 weeks ago but I think the pigeons thought I’d laid on a banquet for them.
Love your vids, always give me loads of motivation. On the Kawasaki the issue is the pilot jet in the carb. It’s a bit tricky but if you can get it out yourself it needs reaming with some fine hobby drill bits. Find the bit that just sticks in the jet and ream it until it goes through cleanly. Problem is corrosion from ethanol clogs it up and after a few years the engine is running too lean without choke. It works I’ve done it to mine but had replaced the carb once before learning this👍Newer carbs are a bit more corrosion resistant.

Great little tool the seed slot thing i did manage to buy one. Perfect for doing little wildflower patches scalped lawn then ran over with that so seeds definitely in soil not ontop of grass. Keeping an eye out for old gym weight to slide down handle see if makes it easier

Daniel I need to renovate but i want to also level with sand. Should I re-seed 1st then level once seeds have germinated or level 1st. Im just concerened of undoing the leveling if I seed after and then cover with compost. I am trying to cut at about 6-8mm so I need a super level lawn
Can I check what type of grass seed you used for this lawn? And what type of soil would be most suitable?
Do you ever have the fleece stick to seeds on a new lawn? I intended on covering the seeding in a light layer of field no4 but it just kept sticking to my trainers and lifting the seeds. I raked it a little as I could no longer walk over the surface without picking up everything. The seeds are mixing a little bit with the top layer of rootzone with some mixed and some showing on top. When I water the fleece contacts the seeds and sticks to them. Will they still be ok when they finally start to germinate and root into the soil ?
I sowed then on sunday. I guess I could try raking them again as nothin g will germinate until next week as its fescue / bent and its been cold this week. I guess probably leaving as is would be best though.
My lawn is in almost the exact same conditions as this lawn is in...a week ago it was almost perfect but it had a few lighter green spots exactly the same as this 1... i didnt need to dig them out tho, i just lightly hand racked the whole lawn and threw a handful of granular feed that also kills grubs over that spot and a week later the lighter green turned darker... i actually think it was grubs as the whole lawn was fertilised a week before but only after i put a feed that kills grubs did it go darker.. feed was lawnguys summer granulated
Great video Daniel. I've just done a scalp, scarify, over seed and top dress on my lawn after subscribing to your channel and your guidance. I haven't used setting wetting agent though. Will this just slow the rate the grass germinates? Keep up the good work 👍
Did my back lawn 12 days ago without any special products. The lawn doesnt get much sun but the seeds started to come through on the 10th day. I'm sure it's slower without the special potions, but has also been annoyingly cold at night

Thanks Daniel for the effort in making the videos. For those without unlimited money to do a full renovation, can you show us how to do things without the need to do overseeding and top dressing, such as scarification, fertiliser and regular feeding along with mowing?

My pallet order of Field Compost No.4 arrived at 5PM yesterday afternoon delivered by a lovely Polish lady lorry driver, my prep work was already done so wizzed around with the drop spreader with Dan’s rye seed mix then wetting agent followed by top dressing with the very easy to spread No.4, then covered with fleece as it’s still chilly of a night here in Cheshire, finished with another application of the wetting agent ( rain forecast correct for today) So let’s see in the next fortnight how it goes 👍 P.S long suffering Blue Nose had a great respite last night on the road to league survival and scuppered Red Shite’s winning the Prem, that’s what you call a Brucey Bonus! 😁👍

Big fan and recommended you to all my mower buying clients. Just a question on your point on kawasaki's on 8mins. Running on just choke means the carb hasn't been cleaned. Quite surprised st that given the amount of work you do. Andy

Great video as always, I have an 18month old turf lawn that now seems to be full of meadow grass. Do I have any options to get rid of it it other than dig it out? Thanks Daniel
All turf is full of it thats why i never use it,
No options you will have to live with it because you will have no lawn left if you dig it all out

Hi Dan. I've started my renovations for this year. I have some equilibrium, Sow Pro and Slow Growth left over from last year. Is it still good? The equilibrium looks like it may have a bit of mild or something in it - black bits. Thanks mate.

Why just the fleecing on the edges? Is that just to stop the seeds blowing into shubbery/path and to stop wedds and also to not lose the seed? You made me LOL on the Swiss role comment. Huel shakes are the future!!!

Where did you get that edging spade? I have been through several, each one breaking at the ‘neck’. Best i have ever used was a really old one that had a blade like yours no bent over edge to stamp on.

Do not use mushroom compost you will have thousands of mushrooms! I havent a clue mate as never been in an american garden centre

Guys I need some serious advice 🙏
I am starting my Lawn from scratch. Taking out all the current grass and weeds by shovelling approx 10 inches deep.
Then I am shaking off the mud and throwing away weeds and grass and any roots aswell as the stones by seiving all the mud leaving just fine sandy mud behind. I will level it all out and will water it over the next few weeks to see if any weeds grow and will take them out.. I think I am taking the right steps however I really need to know what is the best fertiliser/Grass seed to use and sow on my back breaking project! Many thanks for your advice (im new to all this and a bit of a noob) Just need some URGENT Advice from you experts. I want just pure grass without any weeds and something that wont grow fast i.e less mowing sessions and doesn't require much watering. I think ive covered all info but any other questions to help you help me please feel free to ask. Many Thanks!

If you have a scarifiering attachment on your allett why do you still use old faithful out of interest?? I also see other with a completely separate scarifier and don’t know why you have 2 machines when one will do both ? Is it size or am I missing something ?
Missing watching my previous videos, ones blades as in ye olde faithful, and alletts is a spring tine, which wont enter the soil
Hi dan your lawns are awesome very impressive by the way mate im a derby fan id be lying if i said im not nervous for Saturday we should win but weird things have happened if the team turns up they'd have a field day but this season games you'd expect to win we go and lose bet you can say that with Bolton this Saturday should be a rehearsal for Wembley don't you think i bet it'll be Bolton who go up beating Peterborough at Wembley will Bolton rest a few players this weekend for the playoffs or do you risk it and play everyone and hope nobody gets injured anyway best of luck in the playoffs 👍

How do you deal with ants? I can't take 2 steps in any direction without standing on a ant hill. 150sqm absolutely covered in ant hills.
Raid ant killer isn't working, tried dusting the hills and tried digging and dusting the nests.
NOTHING works, the lawn is now just a ruined unusable mess.
How many bags of No.4 do you use for say 100 sqm?

i find this process of overseeding is so tiresome! Will it grow won't it grow?...the uk unpredictable weather !..the watering costs ...the added costs etc etc ....Will the slower patches fill in . can't walk on it for weeks can't get to tend the other parts of garden as you can't walk on it for weeks I will just get sod in the future !!! ...have followed every step of overseeding to the letter 10 days in now and negrass growing hooray but its worrying where its slower to appear..I'm shredded ...cheers ..
