@@sir7riscuit924 this is originally played with hybrid picking like all of Brents solos. Of course you can play it with alternate pick but the correct way is to use hybrid
The intro is a case of hitting all the right notes but not to many notes. Quality over Quantity, a lot of guitarists don’t understand that. That’s what makes Mastodon great.
I love how Troy is like, "you" made the mistake to Bramm at 2:40 or so, haha. I love that they can joke around about making mistakes in front of that many people and not be all uptight dicks about themselves. I wonder if they always point out the guilty one? That is some difficult drumming just before though!
@shillian4770 Think brann was playing the groove again instead of transitioning into the breakdown, that's why Troy really emphasized "to break it down" and then you hear bran rush a bit to get back where he was supposed to be.
He’s awesome in every song, one of the coolest and most fun drummers to listen to regardless of genre. Not to mention he does a ton of lead vocals too, Brann is a legend
They’re significantly better singers now, took them awhile to get solid clean vocals after just screaming with no vocal training at all and fucking their voices up. Just saw them last week and the vocals were rock solid the entire show. Drummer does a ton of lead vocals and the bassist and especially the guitarist has improved a ton.
