This is the one tech channel that has kept on improving, stayed true to its values and continues to amaze us with their established scientific methods. This is the channel that I can still trust on being accurate, true, and if I'm being honest, this channel is the main focus in the tech world where even companies take notice to what you say. Thank you for keeping up with the news, releases and content up until now, and have a great rest of the new year!
This is the channel that I can still trust on being accurate and more importantly, this is the channel to own up to it and be honest and transparent in case something goes wrong and they do release something inaccurate or false. Jays2cents probably too but they are more of a build/unboxing/showcase channel than a real benchmarking/tech channel. Igor put way to much into Pascal with and his flawed fan results but had to backpedal, correct and apologize which he did, also a goat. I didn't like his early assumptions on 12VHPWR fires/meltdowns either but seeing how 12VHPWR is still a mess, even if he was only half right, he was one of the first to shine a light on the issue. LMG and their unboxing lab are a joke anyways and Linus himself is a businessman, not a geek anymore and it shows. GN is still GOAT, time to order some stuff from the shop I guess!
@@jonasduell9953 what I find it funny is how no one seems to notice or care how GN will rightfully criticize Nvidia for their recent products but still make marketing segments for them like when speaking with their thermal engineer. It's all marketing from here because GN is a for-profit group. Inherently, due to the nature of this dark world works, there's always going to be that thin veil of looking after the audience but it's going to cost us.
@@BleedForTheWorld I totally understand your point but compare their sponsored ads for e.g. cases, they mention that the case "had scored high" or "received a positive review" during their last tests. Same with visiting an engineer be it Intel or Nvidia. Publicizing how much development, tech and thought goes into modern air cooling solutions is - at least in my books - totally different than mindlessly repeating mandated points of sale off of a teleprompter in a prewritten ad like most channels do. And while those visits, excursions, collaborations with Kingpin, you name it seem advertisement, I actually doubt that GN really has a big benefit. A techquickie LMG style with 2 sponsored and 2 youtube ads would be faster, less effort and more money without ever leaving the studio. And those engineers are good guys, while obviously working for the big corpos, they have no say about market scheming, scalping, false advertisement, unfair behavior. They try to make good stuff, why not give them a platform.

"2016 called and it wants its resolution back -- which apparently was 1080p" is so relatable, I say knowing full well I only switched to 1440p in 2021 and I won't be switching to 4k anytime soon
Another positive is improvement from Arc drivers and also, FINALLY, a new entrant in the 75W GPU space in the form of the 6GB A380 (can be had in half-height as well to give some life to that old Optiplex that's laying around).
This has been an amazing year for GN as a whole. I love how the team has improved in pretty much all aspects: field expertise, industry areas tackled, editing skills, general entertainment (specially while keeping the information that needs to be presented), and so on. Granted, none of this is anything "new" per say, since you have been staying in that same development track for years now, but makes me glad to see the channel evolving at it's own pace, in it's own terms. And it always puts a smile on my face to see Steve flexing those Chinese language skills.
I'd love to see thermal paste/ pad testing. There's so many for sale now that I tend to just stick with two tried and true pastes, but I am curious how the others perform. Especially long term on GPUs as pump out can be quite bad the hotter the dies get.
Speaking of Mobos, remember when they came with manuals and not just a QR code? Also Gigabyte decided on my new mobo that all the troubleshooting LEDs (which are ALL red) should be right next to each other. At least my old mobo for my 3770k (from 2012) separated the LEDs and put them next to the component it represented.
These videos are some of the only ones that get an instant like from me. Thanks for another year of tech goodness and I hope 2024 is even better for you all!
Just bought the disappointment tour shirt. Still have the 2018 version. My wife laughed afterwards, when I was wearing it, and she saw Steve wearing it too. "Hey! That's your shirt!" she exclaimed. I said "How weird is that?" She had no idea I bought it here. 😁
my new favorite thing about this channel is the snake oil jokes and the all around comedy gold that you guys have been doing more recently. love your channel. the intro for this video was absolutely amazing, I couldn't stop laughing
I bought a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 based on your review, and I am very happy with it so far, decently easy install, my only issue is that it now blocks all the light in my PC so I am thinking of getting an LED strip for the rear of the case :D Thank you to the entire GN Staff for keeping it real and drama free
HELL YEAH! I looks forward to this every year! I just got me 2 of the Disappoint T-Shirts! Now I can't wait to watch the video! Here is to another great year of GN Content! ALL HAIL Tech Jesus and Ocular Moses!

But regardless, keep up the awesome content Steve, its awesome that there is someone with integrity keeping these companies on their toes! Have a safe trip to my city!
It's intriguing that GN has not include 12vhpwr connector in the list. That's the biggest fire hazzard of the year and this problem is still pressist even now.
The connector itself isn't really the Issue it's the fact they are not getting plugged in all the way and the pins aren't making proper contact causing that pin to heat up enough to start Melting the Plastic
Yes, that should have been added here too, but somehow GN thinks it was simply user error that GPUs went on fire. No, as I told before: if it's too easy to make a mistake, it's bad design, especially when it comes to a huge safety issue and high GPU prices.
@@SirWolf2018Give it one more amp and the thing burns to a crisp. The safety limit is 51 Amps at 20°C and the 4090 CAN reach 50 Amps (and higher than 20°C, since it's a GPU) PCI-SIG and Intel are the people who worked on this crap, they honestly deserve all the hate. Nvidia really didn't do anything wrong here by using the standart given to them.
Every single year.. i am waiting for this legendary masterpiece. And.. the seven segment display.. it saved my ass so many times. It should be on EVERY SINGLE MOTHERBOARD (X and Z series, high end B series?)
Here's to another year of fighting the good fight, keeping the C-suites accountable, and making informative, factual, entertaining videos. You guys really are the top of the mountain. I'm looking forward to some more case reviews, especially in ITX where the market has seen some recent innovation. SSUPD Meshroom S V2 review please!!
You should do a review of the Disappointment PC Build 2023 itself with full thermals and benchmarks. Do it as snarky as can be. I wanted this ever since you started doing these. I think it'd go over well.
2023 was interesting. Between motherboard voltages & 12VHWPR am happy I went with a 7900XTX and aged 12th gen. BG3 was really good (still is), so 2023 wasn't all bad.
7900x for me and also 7900 xtx and well my 6800xt died a few days before warranty expired but I got the money back right for the start of the 7900xtx and well bg3 is just a masterpiece I own starfield but could never get myself to get past character creation 2023 games for me: BG3, Age of Wonders 4, Mods with a bit of Skyrim
Gaming, and pc building is just getting worse, and worse, and worse. Its getting so ridiculous how much lies corporations are allowed to get away with, and all they have to do is just apologize then release a plan with multiple steps, and then go back to doing the same thing. Games are also costing hundreds of dollars now just to access a fully made content. The price gouging is absolutely insane.
7 months later and this aged like wine. 4070 ti super is still 800 dollars just to have an actual proper upgrade. the games are getting worse and overrated. hobby is looking real bleak
The most dissappointing thing I had to deal with tech-wise this year was a bad CPU and how its symptoms masqueraded as a host of other problems... I was fortunate to catch it within the RMA period and was able to get something new and even built a whole second machine as a backup in case i have another problem like that again! (it's got the Arc A770 LE because why the hell not!)
I like where GN is heading. Verity of content is very cool and I really look forward into everything new that appears on channel (instead of just another HW News or performance review). Also, these new intros that continous to appear in videos are just cherry on top.
This was hilarious and interesting to watch all the way through. Great intro, too, loved it! Thank you guys for your work, and hope you'll have a good 2024! Man, fully agree with you on the motherboard diagnostics rant - honestly, it's a huge problem in general product philosophy and law: we need legal rights to repair, including some sort of guideline on designing products such that they can be properly and easily diagnosed, disassembled, and independently repaired, within reasonable technical possibilities. A simple and easy way to diagnose any variety of boot-up problems should be a minimum for any computer (even tablets and notebooks, honestly).
I built a PC a month ago with a an Asus x670e and 7800X3D combo, and a Samsun 990 Pro. The BIOS was well before the big update, too. Hell yeah, cursed parts.
The funny thing is , Crysis was build with an engine designed to be 10 years ahead of current hardware. Starfield was designed with an engine from 10 years ago. 😆😆😆
I really loved the video with Stone and helping him get the boards. I had classes like his in high school, but not to that level. It was basically the CCNA course over two years. His response when you told him what was happening was great.
Anyone else appreciate how the production values keep going up in GN videos, but they haven’t once turned into generic RUclips clickbait or meme humor? Even their comedy is grounded and higher brow
It's amazing that you have become so trusted and renown, that you're able to host so many awesome guests and have access to on-site manufacturing tours.
Got into PC building in the later half of last year and just got a 990 Pro SSD for Christmas. I had no idea about the firmware issue.... will be updating ASAP. TY!
Steve (and team) thank you for staying focused on a footprint of good content, done with a small crew, that keeps the bar high. When I think about your channel's own high and low points as a long time viewer: The great: - Great balance of human analysis and technical depth - Remains a stand out channel for content that you can get no where else like the EVGA story, industry updates, etc - Love the work done on acoustics, thermals, and continuing to advance frame rate analysis/diagnostics The improvement points: - Beware getting dragged into rants with other channels, you can be right and STILL be dragged down by the content, the key is emotional balance, not letting factual analysis devolve into name calling or interpretive gray area - As much of a diligent pro as Steve is - might want to consider adding a second on-camera colleague which creates opportunity to tag team content and build resilience in the GN brand to make content if something happens to Steve or Steve just needs a break
I would appreciate an educational series about why modern cpu's are fast and what modern software does to be so slow. People need to know why they are paying for really fast cpu and photoshop still takes minute to launch
Great intro. Only thing I think would make it better would be to have the "build me" letters dripping in -blood- snake oil. I wonder if this year nvidia will target 320x240 resolution in their new video cards. I really want something that can run doom(1993) properly with lots of AI upscaling and DLSS :D :P Happy new year to all :)
I'd love to see a tour of TSMC, or another chip fab plant. Specifically to see the process of creating the wafers. Ie. from raw silicon to fully printed wafers. As well as the process of cutting them up and turning them into individual products. Would be super cool to see. Thanks for a lot of great content GN, keep up the good work!

Thank you so much for the very kind words. That's incredibly thoughtful of you to put into writing like that.
I think the terrible design of the 12V HDPWR video card connector deserves a special mention. Low key surprised it hasn't caused a house fire yet.
The editing is actually insane in this one. Probably the funniest and most spiteful Disappointment Build special to date.
“Insane” lol you’re easily impressed
I'd love to see thermal paste/ pad testing. There's so many for sale now that I tend to just stick with two tried and true pastes, but I am curious how the others perform. Especially long term on GPUs as pump out can be quite bad the hotter the dies get.
This would be good. There's a channel that does a lot of this, I believe it's called snarks domain (I think)
It's worth checking out
Thanks!
My gigabyte one hides them behind the gpu😂
My MSI B550-A Pro I've just bought a month ago has manual.
I remember when video cards came with video cables.
I have an asus z790 mobo and it has a paper manual
Don't you know? You're supposed to shut up and be grateful that our Motherboard overlords are willing to give us debug LEDs at all.
No mention of the the 12VHPWR connector debacle, not a consumer issue, still needs to be recalled and changed. My 4080 burnt up with it in fully.
Ah I love these disappointment videos. Bought 4 shirts this time! Thanks Steve & the team!
These videos are some of the only ones that get an instant like from me.
Thanks for another year of tech goodness and I hope 2024 is even better for you all!
Did 12VHPWR make it on the list along with the gaslighting that it's the customer's fault when it burns?
Nope he dismissed it and it is issue. I don't get Steve on this. Northridgefix had dozens of 4090 repairs of those connectors.
Just bought the disappointment tour shirt. Still have the 2018 version. My wife laughed afterwards, when I was wearing it, and she saw Steve wearing it too. "Hey! That's your shirt!" she exclaimed. I said "How weird is that?" She had no idea I bought it here. 😁
Hahaha, that's awesome. Love that story!
I learned so much from you. Love you guys!
That intro was definitely something to behold, my lord. Keep up the good work, guys!
What an intro! XD
Happy 2024 to Steve, the GN team and PC gamers all over the world!
Haven’t even finished the video and I’m already dying 😂😂😂 Thanks Steve!
my new favorite thing about this channel is the snake oil jokes and the all around comedy gold that you guys have been doing more recently. love your channel. the intro for this video was absolutely amazing, I couldn't stop laughing
I've been waiting for this year's disappointment build. I can't justify a modmat or set of tools, but I can always use a shirt. Thanks, Steve.
I bought a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 based on your review, and I am very happy with it so far, decently easy install, my only issue is that it now blocks all the light in my PC so I am thinking of getting an LED strip for the rear of the case :D
Thank you to the entire GN Staff for keeping it real and drama free
Great cooler for not a lot of money.
I have one on my 5800x3d and it never goes above 64 degrees.
I'm sorry, Steve, I'm afraid I can't do that 🤖
it looks like you’re trying to write a GPU review, Would you like help with that??
*Thanks Steve!*
Always informative as well as entertaining - learned about tesseracts today 😂
Cheers to a Happy New Year for everyone!
I forgot how absolutely savage GN can be.
His roasts are BRUTAL
the humor in this video was on point literally everywhere, just fantastic
"asus has the best warranty" out of that printer had me :D
Great job this year.
HELL YEAH! I looks forward to this every year! I just got me 2 of the Disappoint T-Shirts! Now I can't wait to watch the video! Here is to another great year of GN Content! ALL HAIL Tech Jesus and Ocular Moses!
Great to see you around, Evocati Productions!
@@GamersNexus Appreciate you Steve! I still watch every video even if I don't comment as much as I used to. I will be working at the same Casino's that I am sure you will be at next week for CES, would love to meet you in person one of these days. But regardless, keep up the awesome content Steve, its awesome that there is someone with integrity keeping these companies on their toes! Have a safe trip to my city!
Now there's a name I have not heard in a long time 👋
look all the cool cats are here. Hope you all have a great 2024.
I would really enjoy seeing a round up of motherboards and you walking through the bios for each of them. It's something I'd love to get to know more
It's intriguing that GN has not include 12vhpwr connector in the list. That's the biggest fire hazzard of the year and this problem is still pressist even now.
That'd require Steve to admit he was wrong and that's not happening. You'll have tech leakers admit that before him lol.
The connector itself isn't really the Issue it's the fact they are not getting plugged in all the way and the pins aren't making proper contact causing that pin to heat up enough to start Melting the Plastic
@@deltasixgaming you are an idiot if you believed that.
It was already included on the Disappointment 2022 list
@@deltasixgaming The connector itself really IS the core issue. Watch the recent video by der8auer on it.
Never paused/rewound/replayed an intro so many times to get all the chatgpt scripts, bloody brilliant stuff ❤
Great video! Shout-out to the 4090/4080 power connector also, which is insane.
The safety limit is 51 Amps at 20°C and the 4090 CAN reach 50 Amps (and higher than 20°C, since it's a GPU)
PCI-SIG and Intel are the people who worked on this crap, they honestly deserve all the hate. Nvidia really didn't do anything wrong here by using the standart given to them.
I look forward to this video each year more than any other :)
Every single year.. i am waiting for this legendary masterpiece.
And.. the seven segment display.. it saved my ass so many times. It should be on EVERY SINGLE MOTHERBOARD (X and Z series, high end B series?)
The intro was awesome, you really made me laugh^^
Thank you all for what you do and I wish you the best possible 2024!
7900x for me and also 7900 xtx and well my 6800xt died a few days before warranty expired but I got the money back right for the start of the 7900xtx and well bg3 is just a masterpiece I own starfield but could never get myself to get past character creation
2023 games for me: BG3, Age of Wonders 4, Mods with a bit of Skyrim
You all did great work this year for the consumer and industry. ❤
I love the sass that GN has started putting in these while still keeping things serious and informational.
Idk how you do it, but each time the intro gets better! I love these videos so much, I really look forward to it each year.
Thanks Steve!
That intro was another banger, very well done Steve and the team at gamers nexus.
I look forward to this every year Great Work GN!
I built a PC a month ago with a an Asus x670e and 7800X3D combo, and a Samsun 990 Pro. The BIOS was well before the big update, too. Hell yeah, cursed parts.
These video intros have been so incredible lately. Love it.
you production value has gone up 1000% all the new videos are fantastic you guys are killing it !!!
The funny thing is , Crysis was build with an engine designed to be 10 years ahead of current hardware. Starfield was designed with an engine from 10 years ago. 😆😆😆
I love how EVGA logo is on the top left as if it’s peering into the hellfire it just escaped from
These intros get better every year. Thanks for another great year of coverage and unfearing journalism.
The worse the year, the better the intro from GamersNexus Video! :)
I have to ask: What's the "Build me" written with? Whiteout? Or are ya'll actually crazy enough to use thermal paste for that?
... it was thermal paste, hahahaha
9:08 bullshit from Samsung too, my 870 EVO was also affected. It gained 181 bad sectors until there was a firmware update.
It's amazing that you have become so trusted and renown, that you're able to host so many awesome guests and have access to on-site manufacturing tours.
Thanks for 2023, Id love seeing more about power supplies and like redundant systems in servers and calculating power budgets and such nowadays
When I think about your channel's own high and low points as a long time viewer:
The great:
- Great balance of human analysis and technical depth
- Remains a stand out channel for content that you can get no where else like the EVGA story, industry updates, etc
- Love the work done on acoustics, thermals, and continuing to advance frame rate analysis/diagnostics
The improvement points:
- Beware getting dragged into rants with other channels, you can be right and STILL be dragged down by the content, the key is emotional balance, not letting factual analysis devolve into name calling or interpretive gray area
- As much of a diligent pro as Steve is - might want to consider adding a second on-camera colleague which creates opportunity to tag team content and build resilience in the GN brand to make content if something happens to Steve or Steve just needs a break
Love the humor and direction the channel is going. Keep it up guys!
Happy New Year, Steve and everyone at Gamers Nexus! May 2024 bring us more exciting hardware and less snake oil from any company.
I would appreciate an educational series about why modern cpu's are fast and what modern software does to be so slow. People need to know why they are paying for really fast cpu and photoshop still takes minute to launch
That's not "modern" software, it still runs based on the old initial code in 90% of the cases. Because rewriting "functioning" code costs money 😆
Great intro. Only thing I think would make it better would be to have the "build me" letters dripping in -blood- snake oil.
I wonder if this year nvidia will target 320x240 resolution in their new video cards. I really want something that can run doom(1993) properly with lots of AI upscaling and DLSS :D :P
Happy new year to all :)
Disappointment Tour shirt is always my holiday gift to myself every year! Here's to another year, who knows what will happen to make next years shirt❤👏
Love how the into perfectly summed this year like literally everything claims to have “ai” now. Next will be a pencil sharpener with ai lol
No, next will be the pencil itself.
Coupled with your intelligent, AI power iPaper.
surprised not many people are saying anything about it - but loved the intro! it's definitely been a year
As an unironic owner of 4060ti for local ai, I had a really good laugh!
Really outdid yourself on this one, Steve.
Happy new year!
Same, cheapest way to get 16gb of modern vram
man he really killed the "can it play crysis" meme live on stage. Just executed it in front of everybody.
