I stumbled across your channel by accident the other day and I am so happy I did...thank you for sharing your projects with us as well as your joy filled attitude...a pleasure to watch...
For your beginner sewers, for putting on a zipper to where your not having to fight with the zipper pull, you can start sewing just past the pull, sew all the way down and then turn your project around and unzip the pull just where you began to sew, and sew up the top of the zipper. If your using a zipper foot you’d need to move your needle to the opposite side of the foot. I hope this makes sense. Love your videos! Oh, and I keep some tissue paper in my drawer for working with vinyl b/c I don’t have a teflon foot.
Don't worry about being 'exciting' all the time! I sew/cut/iron fabric while you 'visit' with me! I just sew during the parts that are automatic knowledge with me, and stop-and-watch when I want to see how you do things. You are good company!
I was trying to be supportive, and meant you no harm. I was just trying to let you know that you need not ever apologize for tending to the details. You said something about how it must be boring to watch you poke out the corners of the bag. I was just trying to let you know that how you present things is just fine. I certainly didn't mean to offend you. I meant what I said only in the most positive sense.
These are fabulous!!! So, I’m a momma to a wonderful special needs little girl. Let me tell ya, we have so many medical supplies and paperwork to organize. I’m so excited to make some!! Might as well organize her goodies with some style am I right?! Thanks for this fantabulous tutorial.
Missed you my friend get well soon, I been there and it hits me once in a while, also, my last heavy duty episode was in may 2022, you are loved, love your channel and everything you do, keep pushing keep trying lots of hug
I missed your premiere but wanted to tell you that I just recently discovered your channel and wow what a learning experience you are! I’ve been sewing for a long time, just recently quilting (2 years) and the sheer amount of “tips” I get from each video of yours I watch is mind boggling!!! Not to mention your exuberance and hilarity! You really make learning so much fun! Thanks ahead of time for many hours of pleasure as I start watch all your past videos. 🥰
Matthew, too funny. Tip for vinyl flattening. ..iron over your ironing board/pad and while it's still warm lay your vinyl over face down and press into the heat of the pad. Works like a charm and is instant. Hugs Kate in New York.
I absolutely can’t wait to dig out some fat quarters and whip a few of these up! Beautiful and functional. I’m thinking of binding the inside seams to see how it turns out. Thanks for posting!
Hi Matthew really love this little bag, so many uses. It is fabulous watching you get to grips with some of the trickier aspects of working with vinyl. Matthew you always make me smile, I told my Textiles Group that they must watch your vlog as you are simply divine. Have a wonderful weekend, sending you all my loves and hugs Matthew xxxxxx Dorothy U.K. ❤️😘🙋🏻🌟
Love this pouch! It is now on my projects list. Ever since finding your channel I strive to keep my days positive by making time everyday for FABRIC PLAY!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is such a great video, once again.❤️ I don’t know how you do it but for someone like me (as a beginner with sewing) you truly make me feel that I can accomplish anything you make. I think because you show us the true video of the many challenges that arise when sewing and that even a professional can make mistakes and overcome them. Your a great teacher and inspiration! I love this project and I can’t wait to make it someday.☀️ Thank you always Mr. Domestic 🤩
Well my "virgin" project was not like the one you have taught us here, but I was able to make a zippered pouch out of a placemat....the wonder tape is a dream to work with and made the zipper install a freakin breeze...just thought I would share because your magic has become totally contagious for me to try something new....thank you...
Great tutorial. I'm so glad you did one on vinyl. I love watching your tutorials because you do teach the aspects as to what can go wrong. You also teach people the extra steps needed for that professional look. Then add your enthusiasm and positive style its a pleasure to learn from you.
I have been meaning to make one of these for a long time but was intimidated by zippers. You are so much fun to watch and made this look like even I could do it. Wow! You are just awesome! Thank you for sharing your skill.
I love you teaching method...you are amazing..I just made this peek a boo bag and it came out so cute. Thanks for always creating wonderful projects for us. Staying positive through fabric play...I love that ! look forward to you next video, tips and tricks. Love your fabric line too.
I am so glad I came across this video! I just happen to have a lot of unused vinyl (that my granddaughter and I used to roll fondant on when we did a lot of cake decorating) and a great variety of quilted fabric that I used for making baby grocery cart seat covers. I have a feeling I'm going to be making project bags for days.....maybe even weeks. Thanks Matthew!
Dear Encouraging, Joyful, Talented Matthew 💕 What a treat to find this particular video for working with vinyl - I am using sewing as Joy Therapy during this whole Covid Thing, learning to make new things. Fabric Play is so important! Thank you for your fun, insightful teaching - so nice to learn from you. 🧵🤗💕
I just discovered your channel. Absolutely love your humor and upbeat attitude. You made this video so pleasant to watch. Am definitely subscribing to it. And gonna check out the rest of your videos. Happy sewing.
I love your videos! You are so real! I have a love/hate relationship with the wonder clips. I do pin my vinyl, but make sure my pins are in the seam allowance so there are no holes in the body of the project.
hi, I click your videos because u have a big smile and full of joy :D and fortunately your channel is about sewing, currently I am learning to do that, thank you!!
Excellent tutorial video!!!Have been looking for this particular sewing project for awhile, and couldn’t have found a better tutorial than yours! It was enjoyable and filled with great tips! Thank you so much! Can’t wait to start! 😊👍🧵🪡
What a great tutorial! I think I’m going to make a bunch in a couple different sizes and maybe make the top bigger so I can fit a grommet or two on to hang up in my craft room as a reminder of what I have in progress!
Hi I found your tutorial today and watched it then I had to make one to take away with me next week . As I can’t add a picture I can’t show you but your tutorial made it so easy
Great tutorial as usual! I've made a couple of these using another tutorial that involves binding it like a mini quilt; your way is much easier and will now be my go to! 😊
You are a great seammaster!!!!! Your technique is awesome. I love your mistakes left in parts! Thank you so much!!! I have a baby Lock sister marching to the Brother!!! Excellent just excellent!!!!
Super awesome project bags! Great tutorial, as always! Super jazzed you got your Ikea toppers too! Mmmmmmmmmmmore storage!!!! I love for those bookshelves. Lol. Long live the Billy Bookshelf system. Lol. ❤️❤️❤️
“Use this foot to sew tacky fabrics.” Will it turn funkadelic-ly tacky fabrics into beautiful projects? Tee hee. Love seeing your turtle fabric. 🐢 Great instruction, as always. Thank you. Very much enjoyed your organizing series. Your videos always bring a smile. Blessed be.
I love your fabric line so much that I don't want to cut into it until I figure out the perfect project "just for us!!!" I have never made anything for us. There is always someone else whether friend or relative. lol
Cute bag. If you added a loop on the side, you could add a key ring to be able to hang multiple project bags together. To ge the vinyl to lay nice and flat, you can use a hair dryer to "heat" it a little bit, then finger press it flat. When it cools, it will retain the shape you want. Love your fabric choice, but metal zippers are no where to be found in my sewing room.
I am so glad I came across your channel, your personality is so awesome, and I don't usually see much enthusiasm in this category on RUclips. Kudos! I try to have energy and positivity on my channel, so I know it can be tricky to stay upbeat on camera, but you make it look so easy! :)
Beautiful Matthew. Could you teach us a box in which many such flat transparent pouches are attached to each other just like pages of a book. I am unable to decide how to do so. I need to make this for putting jewellery. Thanks
LOVE this Mr. D, thanks! Fab fabric too, just perfect for this project. I'm going to try serging the final seams. I love vinyl by SewHungryHippie, so many great choices available. You can use a blow dryer for a few seconds to soften up the vinyl to make turning the project easier. Will you be at QuiltCon in Nashville next month? Would love to meet you!

How to square up a panel

Love that turtle fabric. A hair dryer softens the vinyl for turning right side out, and smooths it when you’re finished.
Don't worry about being 'exciting' all the time! I sew/cut/iron fabric while you 'visit' with me! I just sew during the parts that are automatic knowledge with me, and stop-and-watch when I want to see how you do things. You are good company!

Never knew you could shorten a metal zipper, let alone sew through one. Thank you!

I love how you did the zipper tabs, way less fumbly!!! Also, I don’t know when I last heard the term “foxy”, LOL!!!! I loved it!!!!
I love your videos! You are so real! I have a love/hate relationship with the wonder clips. I do pin my vinyl, but make sure my pins are in the seam allowance so there are no holes in the body of the project.
I am "sew" going to make a dozen of these! I was needing something like this last night for one of my projects!
