I watch this video once every couple of months. I have this uncanning longing for watching a Racer X Second Heat Era concert. Bruce's playing on this vid brings some of that energy!
Chris Choir Exactly! One of my favorite solos on an Aerosmith song was actually played by Brad Whitford. Last Child. In many ways I prefer Brad’s playing to Joe’s. And in many ways I prefer Bruce’s playing to Paul’s.
Bruce and I went to music school together in Indiana and were in jazz band. This would have been 1984-85. Even then he was awesome. His commitment to his instrument was evident early on. Many times I would walk by the practice rooms at 9:00 am and he would have his head buried in his scales. I would walk by the same practice room again at 9:00 pm and it was like he hadn't moved. It definitely paid off. He is such a great guy. After growing a bit tired of playing the trombone for six hours a day, Bruce gave me my first guitar lesson and taught me how to play barre chords. For some reason chicks didn't dig trombone players (lol). I've not put down the guitar since. Thanks, Bruce!
Lots of people can't appreciate the insane amount of hours it takes to become a virtuoso. not only in music, but in life. To get the level of Bruce or Paul or Eddie or Randy or Jimi there is no such thing as a 'balanced life'. You life, breathe, eat, shit, and sleep your craft. Very, very, very few people have that level of dedication.
Odin Hammersmith: Actually there were a few. After college I played in several Big Band and jazz groups and found that there were some chicks in the 1990’s that did dig trombone players! Lol.
Those years still live with us mate. Those great players, like Mr Bouillet are still around but we have their records that still stand up so strongly. Respect to you mate.
Man, the more I listen to this medley the more I think it's the best damn guitar instrumental on youtube! Dude, Bruce man, just rippin it. I wish someone would tab this out, this is just plain bad ass. Thank you Bruce, I know this is old but damn dude you tore it up!
AWESOME ! PROUD TO SAY I SPENT SOME TIME AT M.I. - GIT 1990-91 AMONGST MANY GREATS INCLUDING THIS GENIUS. OPEN COUNSELING JAMS WERE SO COOL !!!!!! YOU STILL GOT IT MAN !!!!
@@davemieze9021 It's really great. Too bad the backing vocals are out of tune, which makes the whole album painful to listen to. Guitar parts are great through and through, good songs, lead vocals are in tune. What the hell happened with the backing vox (and if someone says the backing vocals don't bother them, they aren't musical)
One of the best solos ever on Moonage Dream recording. It's the held, bent & vibrato notes that make Bruce one of the greatest all time shredders with real FEEL.
I've always thought that the chord progressions and solos from Heart of a Lion and Moonage Daydream are some of the best things I've ever listened to in all my fucking life. Simply amazing.
Definitivamente a mi opinión Bruce es un músico extremadamente melódico y talentoso, con mucho toque sentimiento y capaz de cambiar en un segundo el matiz de una canción, sin duda un genio. Lastimosamente no tiene la fama que merece.
Man I was wanting to hear Bruce's brutal sweep he does on Scit Scat Wah. I wonder why Bruce doesn't sweep anymore? Bruce's solo from Live Extreme Vol. 1 is one of my favorite solos ever.
i just learned that solo. it's very fun, but it was so hard to figure out. on the album, the harmonies are completely centered and it's hard to tell who's playing what. then, to top it off bruce and paul cross paths at the end. bruce goes higher and paul goes lower even though paul plays the higher parts throughout the majority of the solo. watching bruce play this really helped me identify who was playing what :)
These Racer X' songs are too good to not ever again be played live. If Paul doesn't feel like doing it anymore and if Jeff doesn't think he can sing live anymore, put together a band with some other guys and tour these songs. I'm sure Paul wouldn't give a flying F, but you never know with musicians...
Excellent vid! Love That era of shred! I love Paul Gilbert's playing, but actually prefer Bruce's playing. Someone mentioned "feel" (what Malmsteen lost over the years) Bruce totally has it, and still rocks 🤘🏻 Holy Hell man!!!! Thanks for your indelible contributions Bruce!!!! Rock on
@@poderes . He thought he was the best and sat back and rested on his laurels . Early malmsteen was incredible but now he is just erratic , frantic and sloppy , rushes through everything as if he in a race to do something else and has better things on elsewhere . All his music is now days is bad vocals , double kick drums in every song at Sam frantic tempo and guitar is just sweep sweep , arpeggio arpeggio arpeggio end of song . Next song more of the same .
Such an awesome player. It's a shame he decided not to play on the last three Racer X albums. His playing and Paul's compliment each other so well. I wish I had gone to see them during the G3 tour in 2007. Also, people on here need to stop badmouthing Paul Gilbert. I know he's more well known than Bruce but who cares? What did he ever do to you? Paul is also still relatively unknown outside of guitar player circles. Other than a single Platinum-selling album with Mr. Big he's still fairly under the radar in the grand scheme of the music industry. Both of these guys should be more famous than they are.
Okay, it's probably already been said here but, I'm guessing that Bruce played all the guitar parts and then played the lead over it.. because, that was some bad ass sh×t right there.. and those Feidman's were sounding excellent :) Plus, he looks great and i'd love to see him play in the Transibiran Ochestra :)
The fact that I’m the only one here in 5 years is depressing. This dude is half of the best guitar duo of all time.
I watched probably 20x in the last 18 months, just didn't comment. In my mind, I was like whoa! Saw RacerX live back in the day, 1988, etc.
I still come back here fairly often. 🤘
Nah mate we just don't comment. I watch so much 80s and 90s shred content all the time
I watch this video once every couple of months. I have this uncanning longing for watching a Racer X Second Heat Era concert.
Bruce's playing on this vid brings some of that energy!
Incorrect sir
Bruce is like Vito Brata ..... maximum UNDERRATED !
Bruce is incredible, from my hometown Vincennes Indiana..seen him many times in Miriah
I have not seen him since back in the day. I'm here because I remember just how good this guy is, Not was. IS.
Bruce Bouillet is probably the most underrated guitarist that came out of that 80s shred era. Absolutely incredible! Apparently he hasn't lost a step.
Agreed while most overlook him in lieu of Paul Gilbert he is just as talented they worked very well together in Racer X.
@@kingdiamondfan4032 his solo on Extreme live is so good with blues vibe on it
Ron Jarzombek
Minus the shred it's kinda like Brad Whitford / Joe Perry dynamic. Joe gets all the love. In Bruce's case Paul gets all the love.
Chris Choir Exactly! One of my favorite solos on an Aerosmith song was actually played by Brad Whitford. Last Child. In many ways I prefer Brad’s playing to Joe’s. And in many ways I prefer Bruce’s playing to Paul’s.
It's hard to shine when you're sharing six-string duties with Paul Freaking Gilbert. Bruce did and does, and that's a testament to his talent.

that level of dedication is normal.. there are tons of insanely good players..
qigung Don't you ever wonder about all the trombone groupie chicks that you could have been with. 🎶🎶🎶🎶
Odin Hammersmith: Actually there were a few. After college I played in several Big Band and jazz groups and found that there were some chicks in the 1990’s that did dig trombone players! Lol.
Man i wish I'd ran into a player like this when I was gigging more. I guess if I had moved to LA I might have had a chance to haha.
That is one of the coolest Epiphone style guitars I have ever seen! Bruce is amazing!
I wish Racer x would all reunite for another record!!
They’re not in their 20’s anymore lol

“The Shrapnel Years”
I’m also glad I got to live the Shrapnel years!!

OMG Bruce you are not forgotten.
2nd heat just kills.
You are so underrated and fantastic.
Nuff said!
You know you are a Racer X fan when you can name each tune the moment he starts a new song segment!
Bruce is amazing! I was lucky enough to see racer x in the 80's. It was mind blowing and I couldn't hear for a week. Extreme Volume for sure.
Nice guitar..❤️✌️
mini hum cool sound

Thats the way p.g. used to hold it till it messed up his thumb
PaulといいBruceといい何でこんなに上手いんだろう、もうこのくらいのレベルになると誰が上手いとかじゃなくてプレイスタイルが好きとか嫌いとかになるんだど思う。
One of the most amazing pieces of work on the guitar ever. Very nice.
Heart of a Lion has always been one of my favorites ❤ I loved watching and hearing Bruce play that!
I met Bruce when my company made some T-shirts for him a couple years ago, nice guy.
Starting the day with the great songs by the great virtuoso
