Disagree with you. I like the 10th gen style, and those cocky adults that just could not get it. They need to get over themselves. The new 11th models looks too much like a VW jetta.

100% agree. Personally the 10th gen SI design was a dealbreaker for me. As a mid 30s professional, it was far too "boy racer." 11th gen is a winner. I only wish the US version SI was based on the touring trim like in Canada, with heated seats/steering wheel, wireless CarPlay/charging, auto dimming mirror, and the SHIFT lights..so cool.

It still cracks me up that Honda in the last gen initially removed the volume knob and out that slider on the steering wheel, people complained and the volume knob came back. VW in the new GTI decided to take it even further and thinks it’ll be a success…
Regarding the looks of the new civic. Looks are subjective and I personally like it. It’s more conservative that I like. I thought the last gen was way over styled. The only thing I don’t like is the overhang of the “upper bumper” as you call it in the video.

Soooo, since most places you drive are a mix of smooth, good pavement and bumpy, fractured crappy pavement, this car, as a commuter, is overall WORSE than the 10th Gen. I don't know if I would want one of these. The 10th Gen had a great, stiff chassis, and a ride quality that was actually pretty pleasant most of the time. The ride quality was not one of the things that I complained about when I owned that car. What was, was the lack of torque in first and second gear, and the increase in stupid piped in engine noise in second gear in sport mode. Not bad around town, but on a twisty mountain road, the fake engine noise was so bad on second gear curves, that after awhile, I much preferred normal mode over sport. The ride was more compliant, it handled just as well, and you got rid of a lot of the noise. Did Honda make the current 11th gen ride quality too stiff? Let me know.

It wasn’t as though the prior gen was edgy…..it was ugly. Two words: fake vents. This version looks great. Think the earliest Si models…..they didn’t look markedly different visually (I’d owned an 89 si - wonderful car). Not sure what Paul is on about wrt the taillights being too big. But then again I love stealth performance variants of sports sedans - think older M and S versions of BMWs and Audis. Some badges and special wheels and then the rest was performance gear.
On the other hand - have never driven a civic type r because I can never imagine owning one and driving something so god-awfully ugly.
I could do without all the red on the seats and door cards. Stitching would have done just fine. And if they are gonna do those seats, why do the rear seats look like they were from another car? Where is Paul’s design acumen on that point?

yes that vertical face is ugly....its very similar to the accord..... and i think that is the only reason why camry beat accord in sales

There's actual buttons on the steering wheel??? Is that something new??? Did I miss something?

The 10th gen was a bit of a disappointment to me. It completed the task of a capable, affordable, and comfortable commuter car pretty well. But it really lacked a soul. Hope they made the 11th gen better in that department

Does it drive like the GR86 but Fwd 🤔 I’m also thinking of the GR86 Rwd or Fwd - I’m going to test the Civic first but I can’t go hard like you guys it just came of the truck on Wednesday…So I have to be gentle 😏 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

Definitely think Honda improved the looks. The 10th gen was to over styled for my taste.

  • @ErnestMarvinEsteban
    @ErnestMarvinEsteban 2 года назад

I have to disagree with the styling though... I love the 11th gen's design more than the 10th, looks way classier and a design that can last for 10-15 years.
I feel the 10th gen is "overdesigned". Too cringey. too robotic. Looks like a gundam.
I can imagine myself driving the 11th gen and not be overly anxious on how people would judge my taste on cars. lmao.

Why does it matter what others think of your taste? If you love it, drive it. Styling is subjective so for every person that thinks it’s “ridiculous”, there will always be someone that feels the opposite and loves it.

Love it... except for the red door panels and seats in front and black door panels and seats in back. Come on Honda, glaring cost cutting can ruin a car.

Need to add back heated seats. Rides well but looks bland. Shoulda been a hatchback.

I just got it in black. I disagree with most of this review. I actually prefer it looking less sporty..because its NOT a type R. Handles amazing and is comfortable. My literal only complaint is the hond Bluetooth audio lag is complete trash.

Couldn't disagree with you guys more on the styling. To my eye its more mature and less embarrassing to drive as a mid 30 something lol, especially the hatchback.
